Ben Yedder | Monaco set to activate release clause?

What I like most about him is his attitude, rarely complains and works hard. He could be a very solid addition
This. He has very good technique (was a futsal player), great movement, hold up and link up play and he's definately a work horse. I like him.

Yep. I think Lukaku to Inter is a goer all the signs are there, they're just trying to stump up the cash.

We've obviously informed Sevilla we are going to activate the clause as soon as it happens, maybe they wanted to sign a player first before making it all official?

I don't know what Sevilla's squad is like and whether they needed a new striker anyway, but it all seems coincidental.
I think he's basically informed Sevilla he wants to leave, I imagine we're probably a top choice if we're interested, so may be waiting on that before making final decision, but he'll be leaving regardless IMO.

If he signs he’s 100% going to score a few last minute goals over the Christmas period. Seems like exactly the type.

Probably a game like Newcastle at home (genuinely have not checked whether that’s during the Christmas period this year but it seems like it always is so just assumed it).

:wenger: He’s on another planet to Wilson

He's not though. Callum Wilson is a very good player. They don't have particularly similar styles though, and I imagine Ben Yedder will be cheaper and injured less.

It’s brilliant, people on here were rating him right up until there were credible sources linking us to him- since then he’s become “the la Liga Callum Wilson”

This place honestly brightens my day

Callum Wilson is a good player who's struggled with injuries, I don't see it as criticism. I rate Ben Yedder even higher

Having not seen much of him, is the opinion on here that he would be a better fit/player for us than Lukaku has been? If so, it seems like a good bit of business if we manage to end up with some surplus cash as well.

If Lukaku goes, this is a good signing. Has things to his game other than just a finish.

He is. It doesn’t mean Wilson is a bad player. But the respective levels each player has proven themselves at is night and day.

To be a better fit than Lukaku all you’ve got to do is be able to control a football and not look like you’re passing one for the first day in your life. If he can do that, he’s an upgrade and we have hope.

how I wish we hadn't never sold one of those: Javier Hernandez - bet he'd have been a good Ole fit

I don't agree. Spanish defences are shite. I rate them both but they're different players and I suspect Ben Yedder is a much better fit for United.

people seem to forget all the goals Lukaku scored when we actually passed the ball to him in dangerous areas

Buy him, buy him, buy him.

Absolutely mint player in my opinion and could be a deadly poacher for us.

Plus I signed him for United on FM and he's an absolute machine :D but in all seriousness, after seeing Sevilla making some moves in the market this morning I think this will happen and I'm really pleased about it.

True but people have not forgotten the times he had missed the simple chances which consequently led us to lose the match. Unfortunately for us it was many occasions.

hmmm.. I think one or two (or six) could be blamed for that too last season. I know what you are saying: I had to laugh/cry when the ball bounced off his shin for the 10th time in a game but some o the times the ball was fired at him as if it had come out of a canon. I'd like to have seen how many goals he scored with the likes of Beckham, Giggs, Carrick or Keane passing to him!

I’m sorry, you can’t deny that proving your prowess at one of the top Spanish clubs in recent years and in the Europa League is equivalent to doing it with Bournemouth. That’s the long and short of it. Again, I appreciate that Wilson is a good player and deserves a step up but as of now it’s quite clear one has proven more than the other.

It's harder to score and create goals at Bournemouth than it is at a good Spanish side. The players are by no means leagues apart. Wilson's problem is staying fit.

So correct me if wrong, he will add a lot of mobility to our front line, a good first touch, some pace and high work rate, in a way Lukaku doesn't - while also being a good finisher?

Not sure what to think about the prospect of signing him. Isn't he 30?

28. Same age as Griezmann. And available at a very reasonable fee for a very good player.
I see. Well his rumoured buy out is relatively cheap considering todays market. If Rom leaves I'd rather us go for Piatek but considering Ben Yedder's price it would be a decent deal short term.

Piatek would be a good option too but I haven't seen much chat about us looking at him.

I really like Ben Yedder and I think it would be an excellent signing.

I know nothing of Ben Yedder but I have to ask if he's as good as people are saying why is he at Sevilla? Why has he only got 4 caps for France and didn't he only come on off the bench in the game against us when he scored twice?

I mean I get given Rashford will be first choice next season a replacement for Lukaku doesn't need to be 'top drawer' so from that perspective a player of his stature makes sense but there seems to be a serious amount of hyping of him in this thread?

For the price he'd be a fantastic signing as long as the wages aren't crazy. We need some additional firepower and experience.

We need a mixture of ages in our signings otherwise we'll create a very unhelpful imbalance where we're relying on players who are't ready and shouldn't even have that burden.

Is this guy a high work rate striker? Could he be our Firmino?

Not seen enough of him. All i remember is he scored against us in the UCL and knocked us out iirc?

Even with his age, £35.9 million for a very good goalscorer in this market is a cracking deal that shouldn't be dismissed in my opinion. Especially if we sell Rom for double that (or close to it).
I don't think anyone will pay that much for Rom. We'd be lucky to get £50m. Inter seems the only ones interested and they'll pay feck all.

I have very mixed feelings about this. On the plus side he's decent and he's cheap. On the other hand strikers of his age with no experience in the EPL whatsoever tend to struggle in the EPL. Falcao, Shevcenko and Higuian comes to mind. I would have rather seen United going for someone younger.

Sevilla are a good side, it's not as if they are a no mark club. And yea he was on the bench against us which was surprising, and he then proceeded to come on and score twice to knock us out. As for the France thing there are brilliant players keeping him out the team.

I don't think there is serious hyping him up, I think there is a lot of chat saying that he is a very good player who is experienced and available for a brilliant price. He would certainly add a lot to the squad in my opinion.

I think we will get between £50-£60 million for him. If we get Ben Yedder for £36 million that's pretty good business all round.

I really find him an interesting player. Not just the finishing, but the link up play, his dribbling, he's quite fast also, I really like him. What I really like about him also is that he is two footed, he dribbles a lot with his left foot and doesn't waste time to put it in his right foot.
