Tbf. Nobody heard of Sane, Sterling, Aguero before they got to City.
I had only heard of Jesus in passing and even then I thought he had died a few years back -- how wrong was I?!
Was this all just a set up for the joke? Because obviously Sterling and Aguero were pretty well known to most football fans, and Sane was well known to anyone who followed German football.
Couldn't be a better time to come to United as a striker, job requirements are:

I actually like him. Need to play him with a partner upfront to get most of his qualities imo.

Vardy and Aubameyang are both over 30 and scoring 18+ goals for teams that are not dominant.

All those players are World Class strikers, so yes, it’s expected of them to continue to thrive in World Class teams.
29 is not old, but we need signings who will contribute for at least 4 years, WBY, imo is not world class, he would of stepped up before 29 years of age.
Leaning more and more towards this being a good thing if Lukaku leaves.
He is probably okay with sharing the spot, is proven goalscorer and would probably fit us better than Lukaku. Always liked Lukaku and he scores goals, no denying that but it feels his time here is at an end, I expected more and perhaps that is part of the problem, most people feel he disappointed and under performed and yet he was our most prolific forward last season.
Ben Yedder has experience and can help ease the pressure and guide our young trio of Martial, Rashford and Greenwood. Considering the options out there and our needs for so many positions in the squad this seems a viable option.

Given that we have a lot of attacking talent in Martial, Rashford and Greenwood that hopefully can kick on and progress the next couple of seasons, getting an experienced striker like WBY seems like the best solution to my eyes. Not another young striker, we've got plenty of those.
I don't think we'll be signing him, though, but his age is perfect.
Admittedly I have seen very little of Yedder but from the bit I have seen and reading up about him he seems like a typical West Ham signing. Approaching thirty and one good season after years under the radar.

We have Rashford, Greenwood and Martial , all quit young. We need some experience to help them along. If we want to play am more dynamic system then he would be a good fit

Honestly had never heard of the guy before he knocked us out of the CL. Is he a late bloomer? A temperamental nomad looking for the right club? A decent player who's had a standout season?
Compared to Lukaku the guy plays like an actual footballer. Not sure how good he is over the course of 90 mins week in week out though.

Lukaku does not fit into a dynamic system. Even if he stays I cant see him being a regular starter
Didn't he play futsal? Deffo knows how to control ball and has a first touch.
Looks to have great close control, agility and balance. He also looks to have decent acceleration. Some good finishes as well. We lack that kind of player and have done for a while!

His goal per game ratio for Sevilla is misleading, you need to look at goals/per minute to get an actual idea of what is scoring rate looks like.
In Europe especially he's averaged 1 goal per game in both EL and CL and has scored against us,Liverpool,Barca,Madrid and so on.

We absolutely do not need every signing to contribute for at least 4 years. Thinking like this is what got us stuck choosing between Morata and Lukaku. It’s perfectly acceptable to get a short term player in until such a time as an appropriate longer term player comes about.
The problem for us is that our short term buys, by and large have all been awful (Schwein, Matic, Sanchez, even Ibra didn’t particularly pull up any trees as much as I enjoyed seeing him here).

Is the league they're playing in really relevant? The point is, the majority of top teams have strikers over 30 leading the line yet we are obsessed with young players. It's actually extremely rare for a striker to be top class in their early twenties.
I think ben Yedder would be great. 3 or 4 years out of him and then hopefully one of our younger guys is ready, if not then we buy another player who is ready.
Don't think so, have seen comparisons on here to Tevez and Suarez in style of play.
We desperately need someone like that imo, so hopefully that's the case.

Just to add, that by all account he seems to have a decent mentality. Toulouse really messed with him when he, IMHO, rightly deserved to leave and kept him... He wasn't happy, kept it shut and helped them to stay in Ligue 1 during his last season.
Not a world beater, but a really good/nice player to have.

He's a Fergie signing, you don't mess about with strikers. You look for proper players and Ben Yedder is exactly that.
Be so excited if we get him, this is the clinical finisher we need. And he can play a fair bit too he’s good link man as well as finisher
This has gone eerily quiet. Really hope we are in for him along with Bruno Fernandes, got a strong feeling that those 2 would add lot of goals and guile.
