Also, Mikhi is pretty much indispensable if I go for the unorthodox, certain first-round exit formation I'm toying with
Was going for the same one

Aye it was between him and Suker for me. Lubanski is a complete attacker from what I've seen although it's a bit what if around him - injuries pretty much ruined him at the age of 26.Btw, would love to hear more about him if you or Theon would have time - as I understand it, he is widely regarded as Poland's best ever player (alongside Boniek and Deyna), who sadly missed out on their 1974 World Cup run, losing on some media and fans attention. His story looks a lot like Streltsov's

I left mine with harms but I think we both went offline at the exact same time.
I was not referring to you but the next posters. For example, prath92 and Skizzo seem to live in Asia for instance.
FERENC DEAK
Yeah, he is right up there as Poland's greatest ever player along with Deyna, Boniek and Lato. He seems to be regarded in even higher esteem by the Poles and won the UEFA Golden Player Award for Poland as their standout from the last 50 years. Precocious talent having made his goalscoring debut for the national team at just 16 and being very productive over the next 10 years or so until his injury. Used to tear it up in Europe a lot for Gornik Zabrze, scoring against United in 1968 (pushing them dangerously close to an exit on their way to the big one), Rangers in 1969 and is one of the all-time top scorers in the Cup Winners Cup (and has the best ratio amongst all the top players including the likes of Gerd Muller and Hristo Stoichkov). Featured in a World XI in 1971 for Yashin's farewell game. No wonder the rise and fall of Gornik coincides entirely with Lubanski's career.Btw, would love to hear more about him if you or Theon would have time - as I understand it, he is widely regarded as Poland's best ever player (alongside Boniek and Deyna), who sadly missed out on their 1974 World Cup run, losing on some media and fans attention. Rangers fan who saw him in 1969 said:The first I can recall was by Wlodzimierz Lubanski for Gornik Zabrze back in 1969. We were 3-1 down from the first leg in Poland and we had never overturned a two goal deficit in our history (a sad stat that still stands today). Ibrox was heaving for the second leg with an expectant 70,000+ crowd. The atmosphere in the old Ibrox on those floodlit European nights was special but it was given an extra buzz by the return of Jim Baxter. Not the Slim Jim of old but a rather portly version of the man who had left a few years earlier. Overweight or not Baxter had Ibrox jumping when he scored with a volley, unusually with his right foot.
Step forward Lubanski. He proceeded to tear us to ribbons with one outstanding solo goal and a virtuoso display. Given that this was in the days of the Cold War and information, like people, very rarely made it beyond the Iron Curtain, it only seemed to make a greater impression on the young me. We had all seen Pele, Eusabio and George Best on TV but this guy deserved to be mentioned in the same breath.
Man City manager Malcolm Allison said:Lubanski's in the same class as Eusebio
Brilliant read, @Raees. Although I have to ask you to delete some of the eligible names from the text
Oh, and he is 10th most prolific scorer of all-time, not 11th - according to this table

nks mate, I think after that game and his game v Italy where I think he wasn't great either should put an end to Da guia being ranked amongst the very great defenders of all time.
Tbf, he did win the Copa America Player of the Tournament in 1945 and did feature in the Team of the Tournament for the 1938 WC, which is quite bizarre given how he'd given away 3 silly penalties in that tournament! Not quite sure how that happened and maybe the pool of defenders in that tournament wasn't so great or something (well David Luiz did make the TOTT in 2014 after all ). Brazilian centre-backs eh?
