Television Beast Games

I've just caught up with all the episodes of this in the last two days.

Every one of the 1000 people who start are clearly all picked for this show because they are so emotionally charged. It's also interesting to watch how people flip flop between sacrificing themselves for a team and then instantly return to their own selfishness. Finally, the amount of money being thrown around is insane - and the belief that everyone has that they are going to be the one who takes 5million dollars home is also intriguing; especially when along the way they have been offered large sums of money to leave the process.

The production value though is really good. The whole set up of how it's filmed, the set and the behind the scenes shots of the control room really add to what is clearly a clever and psychologically thought out game show.

The extra island round was mental, why wouldn't you have gone for the island given there was only 10 players that decided to go for it. I'd have fancied my chances in a one in ten survival round.

I guess we'll find out on Thursday how many people survive the island give away -
there were 9 playing for it, against 4 navy seals. You'd surely fancy the navy seals to win in this instance.

Thought it was a case of last one caught wins the island.

I didn't really enjoy the island episode, the Navy seals hunting was an anti-climax.

So obvious who will win the hanging man challenge.

love that Jeremy left it all to chance (why would anyone choose that option, but anyway) - probably because he thought god would lead him through, then just got dumped out because no it’s actually all just dumb luck pal

Couldn't stand the woman who won the island. Petulant bitch.

That guy who took $650,000 having the nerve to say he'll leave some for the next contestant.... $27,000. Just brutal.

MrBeast appears to have no empathy at all; just wants all anguish caught on film and zoomed in on.

He has no soul in his eyes whatsoever. Emotionless. Like a robot.

The game itself is a lot of fun though and pretty clever.

Yeah, souless and dead-eyed. The few times he smiles is when the contestants do something devious or in obvious anguish. I get that it's a gameshow and all, but this is life-changing money for the contestants and he has no connection to that whatsoever, well, his behaviour suggests he doesn't, at least.

Makes for an interesting couple of episodes, the way this one ended.

Twena or whatever her name is is a lunatic. Basically turned down 2 million so far.

I guess you could argue she wouldn’t have been chosen 1 if she hadn’t turned down the original million.

part of me was thinking the 650k guy was just smart and part of me felt he was a wanker. That’s the kinda show this is. I guess really I don’t get why if you’re gonna feck everyone over why not just take all the money - it really doesn’t make any difference at that point. Same goes for the 2nd guy. I mean feck if you’re gonna be a wanker follow through with it, why not

The first person should've just taken the million. But I don't blame the 650k guy, he gets to financially reset - it's why they're all there.

Sick of their fairness talk. You're there for money, idiots.

He could have paid off all his debts and still left loads of money for the bird he was calling “my daughter”. He comes out of that looking like a real piece of shit. His kids are going to watch this one day. What price self respect?

Especially when he was giving Deano a bunch of shit the episode before. Proper twat he is.

The 2nd guy set the bar by taking over double what they’d agreed, saying he was “taking his fair part”, how was that fair? after that I don’t think he could really blame someone for not sticking to the agreement.

But taking 650k was genuinely hilarious, especially when that was more than he actually needed to clear all his debts, and saying “he wanted to leave some” for the girl and leaving like 25k as if it was the honourable thing. He really came across as a wanker.

I get why the 2nd guy would think he deserved more, he single handedly ensured his team stayed in on the physical challenge.

Yeah agreed he didn't need the extra. Would you still view him as a POS if he had taken the exact amount to clear his debt though? I do agree he comes across badly, but I don't blame him.

Of course, he's a wanker. But if you're going to pull off a move like that, then at least own it. He just came across as a crying bitch. Then he tells the others about his alliance's plans

He actually smiles quite often. I find his pained perma-smile unsettling and his oddest physical trait.
I know what you mean, that's more a grin, like it's etched, but I'm taking about when you get that full extension. I can't unsee it now as I've taken to watching him quite intently because of his indifference and detachment from the anguish. He also does a weird side eye to the camera when he feels like he's capturing worthy content.

I'm going to hazard a guess he's like that because he films content with the public where he's offering them life-changing sums money so often that he's become removed from anything but the extremes.

Having put a number on his exact level of debt he could have paid it all off and still left a life changing sum of money for the girl he was pretending to be besties with. Which would be a far better situation for him to ultimately explain to his kids than what actually happened. Because at some point they’re definitely going to want to know why daddy was such a crybaby bitch about another contestant, who did basically nothing wrong, 24 hours before screwing over someone close to him for money he didn’t really need.

 that's true. I must admit it made great TV - those tears the game before, they really built him up to be this outstanding human. Then when he came out his house, I was expecting him to be shocked that the 2nd guy didn't stick to the $100,000 each, only then for him to absolutely decimate what was left in the box. It was brilliant.

Yeah it’s been great. The worst of human nature laid bare. Been a theme since the beginning. All laid on with stupidly over the top yank schmaltz. It’s become my number one television guilty pleasure.
