Rebecca Adlington 12/5
Lewis Hamilton 11/4
Chris Hoy 11/4

Fouth Fav - Phillips Idowu 29/1

Has to be one of those three. Aslington slight fav at present. Hamilton would need to win the F1 for him to be in contention. Would fancy Hoy myself at this stage as I am sure the British Public will be thinking what a great effort the cycling team made.

United should get team of the year for winning the double, but it will probably be the British Cycling team.

I think The the whole GB Olympic team will fall under one team

I think Phelps is a shoe-in for Overseas winner (6/5).... The reason I say that is that he seems to have a good relationship with the BBC already and he will make himself available for the night I am sure - be that in video link or in person on the night.

Bolt is only slightly behind him at 13/8 with Nadal at 8's

They are normally a bit more spesific. Seem to remember them giving team of the year to the Olympic Rowing Team and the Mens Relay team in the past. It could be the Ryder Cup team if we win it in Valhalla.

I would bet my house on Bolt or Phelps getting Overseas Personality.

Though to be fair, Padraig Harrington has a good chance.

What do you think if Hamilton wins the f1 - will he win it the BBC SPOTY.

Nah cann't see Ryder team win even if they win in Valhalla, Utd and the whole GB squads are above that acheivement

Any other year, Hamilton would win it - we haven’t won an F1 drivers Championship since Damon Hill in the mid 90's.

But with the success in the Olympics, it will be Adlington or Hoy.

I think Hamilton would get it if he won Formula One, regardless of the Olympics.

Thats what my money would be on anyway.

Oh I love an outsider coming in.

Andy Murray now second Fav behind Rebecca Adlington. Lewis Hamilton was second Fav yesterday but has now gone out to fourth Behind Hoy after losing his win.

Feck knows who will win this this year.

If Murray wins the US and hamilton wins the F1 and you have Hoy & Adlington in the Background, feck knows. Hope BBC's editing on the night is fair.

Rebecca Adlington 11/5
Chris Hoy 4/1
Lewis Hamilton 4/1
Andrew Murray 7/2

I think if Murray wins today then he'll win the award and rightly so, regarless of what Hamilton does. If he doesn't and Hamilton wins the championship then it'll probably go to Hamilton. If neither win then Adlington should be right up there.

That would seem fair to me anyway.

Even if Murray and/or Hamilton win my vote would still go to Hoy.

Thing in Hamiltons favour is the timing of the season, if he wins the championship that'll be freshest in the minds of the voting public. The other is that bar Adlington, his main rivals are Scottish. In a year where a Scot does well and no-one else particular compares, that might not be a problem. But I suspect it might factor in a tight race against an Englishman. Might seem a bit unseemly, but thats the way of it I reckon. And the Scots can hardly complain, they stoke such divisions all the time

Far more people will watch the racing climax of Hamiltons season that watched the Oympic swimming or cycling, or tonights US Open final. That said its so long since a Brit won anything in tennis, if Murray does win I reckon he'd be the bookies favourite

no slam winner since 1936 id say murray was a strong contender IF he wins...tho its a public vote is it not ? in which case he has too many knockers to win it.

probably Chris Hoy

one thing tho its great to have choices for once last few years theres not been many contenders deserving

Back to three horse race now.

He touched 7/2 at the off but now out to 24's

Walcott.. joke right? Even as a gooner you would have to laugh that off. Has he actually got a personality?

Im hoping and voting for Hamilton/Hoy/Adlington.

if hamilton wins the f1 championhip, he will almost definitely win spoty through a split vote, especially if the media portray it in an "overcoming the odds and biased officials" kind of way

First Englishmen to win the F1 title in 12 years, double Olympic champion at 19 or 4 time Olympic champion. Can't really complain about lack of talent this year, but if Hamilton manages it I think he just might get it.

I would want it to be Hamilton, but I think probably Adlington.

Hamilton clear and worthy Favorite now - into 1.65 or 2/3 on with Betfair...

reached 10's before last 2 corner...

I expect it to go back out to evens as more people question whether he was a worthy winner - But I reckon he is better then Adlington anyway

I hope it goes to Hamilton, he came so close to winning the F1 in the previous season, and he is the most exciting British talent around at this point in time.

But after Zara Phillips won it the other year, Rebecca Adlington has got to be in with a shout. Especially with the Toffs.

So much press this week about Adlington.... She is even in the Radio Times talking about winning it....

Hope she doesn't.... Hamilton is more deserving.... even Murray & Hoy.....

As an outsider and from a country that actually has real quality swimmers, it is Hamilton hands down

If Murray wins the Masters, which it's looking like he will, he'll have a good shot.
