Gaming Batman Arkham Knight

No need to be so defensive, a slight ribbing. Although I'd say if your getting 10% through a game and just dropping it your not really giving it a chance to impress you, TLOU is a perfect example of a game that builds and builds so by dropping it in the first 10% your just robbing yourself of a great game, its like turning off Goodfellas after 20 minutes.

I know its a great game, the introduction, and the level of detail and storyline is one of the very best I've ever came across... but after back from work for long hours everyday, I really find it stressful to engage myself in such a "demanding" game. Maybe 10 years ago I'd love to spend my time playing it, but nowadays I prefer to go easy and have more fun, and take less challenge in gaming. I even have "easy" mode on Batman, just for experiencing the cinematic atmosphere.

Think it's in the gameplay settings - it's not on the control option screen , which just shows you the controls. It's labelled as battle tank toggle, or something like that. So instead of holding L2 to change to the tank, you toggle L1 (then the two weapons become R2 and L2, which is also better). L2 also then becomes the brake while you are driving.

Will double check this eve, but think that is how to do it.

Yep the toggle option worked, feels a lot more natural now driving the Batmobile. Thanks.

Anyone able tell me what exactly I'll be missing out on if I start playing this game without downloading the update beforehand? It takes 7 hours apparently so I want to put it off if possible. It says that I will miss out on some "network" features. Would I not get any trophies then?

Network leaderboard are broken anyway.

10 years ago, it must have been been really frustrating to you then as there weren't that many cinematic games (MGS for instance) available.

Too much performance related discussion on here, so I'm too lazy to read through the last few pages, but what are all your thoughts on the game?

I'm really not that far in but I'm very disappointed. I'm struggling to immerse myself because of how woven the fecking batmobile is into everything. Tanks and clunky driving is not why I play Batman games. The early Riddler challenges are the definition of a chore. It's a shame because graphically [on the PS4 at least] it's fantastically gritty and really captures Gotham and the story seems pretty decent, even with the Joker forced into it again. I expected it to at least somewhat rival The Witcher 3 for game of the year but it isn't holding a candle to it so far. Asylum is still by far and away the best, linear directions are key for a detective game based on immersion like this, in my opinion.

Cheers for the spoiler! :nono:

Bought Arkham City and Arkham Asylum for a combined price of £6.50 on eBay. Once I've smashed through them in the next 2/3 weeks, I'll probably buy this.

The main missions are good but the open world part of it is needless. Nothing more tiresome than travelling around the map to get to your next mission.

I've started Asylum loads of times, but for some reason can never get into it. Nothing wrong with the game I can think of, I'm just not that in to these games I suppose compared to the huge backlog I have :(

I have the same problem funny enough. It has all the ingredients of a great game and is polished as anything can be these days, but once I log off I never feel the urge to get back on.

I think this is the third time I'm starting it.

Yeah I just want to get it played so I can fully enjoy Arkham Knight, someone on here told me that's the best thing to do.

You don't need to play them. It'd help if you did but you far from need to. You'd figure things out quickly or could easily just have a quick read up on stuff.

Not sure I'm going to enjoy this as much. Limited time to play means I can't immerse myself in the game, and the first batmobile sequence was just tedious

I think I'm close to the end of the story, but my god do the Batmobile missions become tedious. I didn't mind them at first but I'm on like my 4th consecutive mission where I have to use the Batmobile. I'm actually not looking forward to going back to it atm becaus of it.

I think the game is good but they've really shoehorned a lot of Batmobile stuff into it.

I've only played about 50% of the game so far and I have to agree the constant use of the batmobile is annoying and the worst part is that it does handle badly

I don't get the hate, I liked the Batmobile parts :D Both the tank parts and the Driving ones, they're a decent challenge and can get pretty intense.

Infact they're the only parts where I took a break from playing the game to try some of the AR challenges.

How far are you into the game? They become a lot more frequent and annoyong. At first I liked it but they've made sure most sections requore some use of the Batmobile and it becomes tiresome.

80% through the story and 85% through the full game. Perhaps I've been breaking up the Batmobile sections (unintentionally) well enough by going into the other missions for good periods of time and I've managed to break them up by fluke so they dont feel tiresome or even all that frequent, I did play long periods of just chasing down the APC's through the streets though, I loved those missions.

I'm not far off completing the game now and have 100% most of the side stuff. I wasn't sure what to expect but I think it's easily one of the best games this gen. It would be in my top 3 for sure.
The Batmobile does play a big part but I personally like it. I see some people are changing controls but I don't think you even need the brakes just ease off the accelerator a bit and you can get around any corner. I've never played the other games which does make me think I've missed out a bit on some of the story but I think you can put the pieces together and work out what's happened. The characters are brilliant and it has the perfect balance of open world, linear missions & storyline within it that makes it my sort of game.

I just switch to combat mode to make turns.

Around 10% in and I'm bored already :(

Even on hard the combat is way too easy and travelling from one end of the city to another for a mission is so annoying.

Well shit, I've only just noticed this s creepy ass shit happening tonight, first few actually caught me off guard a bit and check out how many times that freaky last one changes

How is it compared to Arkh. City, Kp?

Constantly trying to break with L2 in the batmobile is annoying! My brain is hardwired to the L2/R2 brake/accelerate combo.

aye its not in the 'controls' section of options bizzarrely, its the bit where it says 'Battle Mode Toggle' or something similar, you just change that

Ok spoiler alert but I feel like I need to tell everyone because I think I've found a fault with the end of the game that is easily done and its really fecked it up for me. I googled it and up came this.

Basically for those who don't want to read spoilers leave someone from Gothams Most Wanted besides Riddler and his 243 riddles unless you want to find all of his trophies to end the game.

So basically don't collect the riddler trophies until everything else is done?

No. Im trying hard not to spoil anything but there's something you need to do after completing the main story. Just leave someone like Penguins missions so you have an easy option to end the game as you need to capture one of Gothams most wanted to trigger it. I've left myself with just Riddler and to end it I have to get all of his trophies which is going to be a right pain. Of course if you are going to get them all anyway it makes no difference. I just wish I had the option and I don't.

The presentation, atmosphere, setting, voice acting etc in this is as good as it gets IMO

Also the batmobile adds a lot to it, otherwise it would be for many too similar to the previous games

I am enjoying it but not going nuts over it yet. I'm blaming the fact that 2015 has been a very busy year so far with massive games so I'm a bit burnt out more than anything

It's definitely an upgrade for the series though, I'm surprised to see some not enjoying it at all.

The best thing about the entire Batman series.
