I think they genuinely believe what they're saying. I think this "progress" term in football is one that a lot of people use but don't fully understand. They think that because SAF took time to build at the club and be successful it's the case for every manager. Now Arteta is their example whilst there are numerous examples of this not being the case. It's only progress if you're moving forward, but more importantly, you can only progress if you have a real goal. We have a goal of being successful on the pitch but I doubt there has been any clear vision or plan on how to get there.
So many great players joined is in these years and all more or less flopped or there where similar issues. Maybe, just maybe the club was run by a bunch of absolute cretins.
Meh. If him flying in and out of Germany for treatment was part of an agreement with LvG then its a stupid now as it was then.

It basically is, and there is a part about managers at the end. Schweinsteiger has experienced so much in his career but we didn't get to hear much about it. Schweinsteiger is well-spoken and easy to listen to, he clearly takes in a lot of what's going on around him. It would have been good to get a better range of topics and questions. Gary even asked him about fecking Rashford.

I will forever be baffled by the love many of our fans had for Cavani. Guy was great when finally fit in the second half of the '21 season, then got pissy when we signed Ronaldo and basically was "injured" the rest of his time here when he wasn't begging to leave the country

The overlap isn't a United, channel and they get a lot of complaints for having too many United people on and conducting poor interviews. I love United but have some diversity. There are plenty of outlets speaking about United all the time, and Bastian has so many things to speak about. He's very knowledgeable about football and made Gary look like a chimp.
To be fair, his story about Robben and Ribery, tactics against Barca were more interesting than anything United related.
He can claimed to how much he loves the club, but he wasn’t the greatest of professionals during his time at United. Was always injured or missing due to flying out to watch his partner play the tennis while collecting his paycheck. He generally took the piss here
BFS was past his best when he signed for us but really liked him. Last minute winner v Watford was fun.
i remember that being reported, but then thought well he has LVG's blessings for his treatment so didnt get worked up over it
I was more thinking an English audience, they dont care much about German football. The English (which is most of Gary his audience) think it is turd after all. Does Gary his audience want to hear about the German league and how Bayern dominates that league? Or how Schweinsteiger went from a winger to a midfielder? I think his audience would rather hear about Mourinho, Manchester United and Rashford. Those are things they already know some about and what they remember happening. Maybe the World Cup or the CL Finale could have gotten a mention but otherwise i dont think it would appeal that much to the more casual English overlap watcher.
I could be wrong... maybe they do want to know all about Schweisteiger his career but i doubt it.
I dont get this problem that some here have with players doing their recovery somewhere else. For Pogba it was just another easy stick to hit him with because he was already disliked at that stage but it is normal for players these days. Being injuried is bad enough, watching your teammates play football every day while you are out injured makes it even worse. Footballers have claimed that watching your teammates train is hard mentally.
Why wouldnt you want a player to recover in the enviroment he feels most comfortable in? Feeling good, at ease or relax during your recovery should be a good thing. I can imagine it helps with the mental part and might even make a player return faster.

A decade later? Yes, it speaks to his professionalism. I can't imagine many other players handling them with the same professionalism as he did during that crazy situation, which Gary also pointed out is illegal.
On top of that he basically kept his doctor - Müller-Wohlfahrt worked for Bayern, was trusted by him and LvG. It's not surprising that LvG was fine with him going to a doctor he personally knows well and trusts.
And also a decade after Mourinho acknowledged that he did a mistake in treating him this way. What Schweinsteiger meant was that he didn't run to the media to complain about it. Now this is just telling stories after they left this "clash" (or better avoidance of a clash) long behind.
I might just be a massive cynic but the interview seemed to have quite a clear agenda - to remind United fans he played for us and endear him as a true fan and someone who was wronged by the club (which it sounds like he was but as a reaction to him taking the piss, so I'm not hugely sympathetic). He spent so long at Munich and played with so many greats, had so many big games and we hear next to nothing about it. Nothing about the national team either. Add in, Neville is obviously aware Schweinsteiger trained alone (it was a public story) but Murtough is now a free hit after leaving the club so maybe that is why this is coming out now.
I did wonder if this was some soft PR work by Ineos, if Tuchel is incoming as seems to gaining some traction, putting Bastian in the coaching staff would be quite a smart move.
Exactly. What he didn't do was cause a stir when it would have affected the club and the dressing room, even though he could not have been blamed for doing so given the harsh treatment. It would be the equivalent of telling Casemiro next season that he can't enter the dressing room and needs to train with the u16s. Past his best, on a huge contract, but come on.
It was a dick move by Mourinho but he most certainly did not put in 100% effort for us.

Mourinho can be an cnut but Schweinsteiger was taking the piss with us during his time at United. It wasn't the fact that he was often injured, though that was frustrating enough, it was that there were reports he'd fly off back to Germany or to watch tennis while he's supposed to be recuperating.

Undoubtedly it won't but this revelation should put an end any lingering worshipping of Mourinho amongst red mancs. He treated his players like shit and although discipline is required when expectations are not met, this was a dick move my Jose. Among many others.

Certainly a shit way to be treated but no one is treated that way for a laugh. Worth noting he was also on £180k a week and had played a whopping 18 times in 2 seasons. We essentially have/had a bunch of people who are just looking for the manager to tell them how to do their jobs instead of the other way around. The interview was interesting, it seemed as though he had a lot of knowledge about most things and gave 'politician' answers to some things he didn't want to talk about. Reminded me a lot of Herrera. Says stuff you want to hear because it confirms your bias but not at any point is there any reflection on their own behaviour.

There are two sides to every story. I doubt very much he was sidelined for no reason.
Stinks of financial reasons to exclude him maybe fees based on appearances but instead of explaining it to him treat him absolutely horrifically. This is the reason managers don’t succeed what the hell is going on at our club?
