tough one in AL East this year with the Yankees always being the favourite and the Jays' crazy signings (hopefully!!). It's a question now for the boosox if they can keep up with the Yankees and the Jays seeing Johnny Damon's departure and the bust up b/w Manny Ramirez and the coach.
Barry Bonds, once again, is tangled up with the steroid issue.

Oh, how cool it is - Canada 8-6 US :p

went to buy the Yankees @ Jays ticket this morning, it's already 75% sold out, compare with last years' 59% in attendance...

Gloryhunters? hehe...

There are two teams in baseball, the Yankees and "other."

Have fun at the game--I missed out on the Yanks first swing throught the West Coast, so I'm trying to find tickets for August games in Anaheim.

Yankees suck and as ever i will lay them for the series as they are favourites again...wtf???

Oakland A's.

Although, being from FL, I'm biased on the Marlins and Devil Rays.

Yankees are like the Chelsea of Baseball. They ruin the sport for everybody else because all they do is spend exorbant amounts of money on players. It's you foreign bastards who buy their merchandise that are funding their players wages.:nono:

when you walk down the street here in downtown Toronto, you'll see 7/10 of the people wearing a NYY hat...fashion...they called it...

The interlocking NY is the best logo in baseball--as long as we are talking the white letters on a blue cap. Who the hell wants to wear a cap with a (poor) replica of a bird on it?

how about the mets with the NY logo as well?

feck the Mets. That's like living in Chicago and pulling for the White Sox ... outcasts.

It's skinny and the wrong colors. The little Metsies use orange for the departed (but not morned) Giants and light blue for the late lamented Brooklyn Dodgers. Crap colors for a crap team.

you guys watch the world baseball classic?
i don't get it from the start, Canada beat the US 8-6, and they were tied 2-1 in the group, but the US went through, how could that be logical ...

Yankees have far more history and respect than Chelsea. You mentioning that shit from London in the same breath is ridiculous. Despite the Yankees lavish spending, they are good for MLB. They are the biggest club in the league with the most fans, most all-time greats, legendary players and managers, tops in merchandise sales, highest tv ratings, constant media presence, and guaranteed sellouts when on the road. Chelsea can't compare.

Sure the system could be tweaked to even the playing field in MLB, but NYY and Chelsea have nothing in common.

The whole Barry Bonds thing just makes me very sad.

About Bonds, about the sport, about the feeding frenzy and sanctimonious spoutings of the US sports press.
Just about all sports writers are sanctimonious, check out the Times.

He should never have "juiced." It's his own fault.

They don't sing. They have 3 word chants with the help of a organ player over the loudspeakers.

Off-Topic

Willie Mays, the greatest living baseball player, used to take the subway from midtown to the Polo Grounds when he was playing with New York Giants, nd would chat with fans on the way. Many of the Brooklyn Dodgers also took the subway to Ebbets Field.
