Barthez no longer undisputed no. 1

It's a small club, what Amir says, big problems with the transfer market in Europe, no other big club after a keeper, and they are skint! :)

Believe me, he's good. :)

This is very long story I won't talk about here. The Monaco coach, Claude Puel, had reproached him to have kissed the Marseille coach after a Monaco defeat vs Marseille. (The Marseille coach had played with him in Marseille). But Puel has said that his words had been misinterpreted and that he never meant that he was corrupted. Barthez would NEVER do that. As being sympathetic for his French friends, let me laugh. He may have made some mistakes but he always want to win. He would be stupid to risk his reputation and let tropheys to others. And may be lose his number one shirt.

Clubs don't give a f*** about that. They see their interest. Ricardo is 30, if he was that great he would have been noticed before and play for Barcelona or another great Spanish club.I don't believe at all that a Spanish player can prefer to play in England than in Spain, where the stadiums are full, the atmosphere is great, the weather is beautiful and where they are stars and well-paid.

As for Escudé, players have contracts and they have to respect them. If their managers don't want them to go, they have to stay, particularly when the club has formed them. But who cares about respect nowadays ?

Anyway I've read in the Observer website that he wanted to leave. :(

He had a career before United, and he will have after (if it's true).

But if United wanted to get rid of him, they should have told him BEFORE. He could have found another club. In May, just before the World Cup, Fab had asked Ferguson if all those rumors of new keepers were true. Ferguson had denied the rumors. So the United board has been dishonest. It's not the first time.

There's nothing of any substance there at all. I'm surprised at you Elfie.

Yes, you're right, he's not a good keeper.

That's why he has never won a trophey, that's why he plays for a national team, that's why Fergie wanted him to play for United.

Don't judge a player on a few months when he's having a bad pass.

This is what I've written after my post. Anyway knowing Fab it wouldn't surprise me. If he feels he's not wanted then he'll leave. I hope he will find again his best level. I'm curious to read his next declarations. But he hasn't said a word since June.

im well behind fab but if he costs us as many games as last season he should be sold

so you think he should be in the team just because hes won stuff in the past?

so really hes just resting on his rep right

No, but but give him at least a chance to be as good as he was the first year.

May be he's just ageing. Not that at 31 he's old for a keeper, but he has begun very young at the highest level, and his style requires a perfect physical condition. One second can be crucial.
With Ricardo, may be he'll have the chance to play less games and give his best for the ones he will play.

No, it isn't a story. It a typical 'we need to fill up the page so let's say Barthez isn't happy about ahem... having to battle for his place, even though it became quite clear he IS number 1 when he got into the team as soon as he was fit'.

How many games did he play, and against who ? Yes he was very good but he had never to face a top side. He also let 5 goals with North Ireland. Barthez made some excellent games after December but people have short memory and remind only the bad.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Ditto. youre using an example of Carroll letting 5 in for Norn Ireland. A match id like to point out that Northern Ireland were totally shite in & Carroll can be in no way held blame. The defence was non-existent.

some clubs do, honey, believe me ...

why do you try to knock ricardo before you´ve seen him play? some players develop late .. i´ll preserve my judgement about the new keeper until i´ve seen him play and so should you.

oh, btw ... deisler, ballack and ze roberto cost about 7-8m each ... they must be shite, eh?

the transfer fee says feck all about the quality of a player ...

Shearer has very few trophies yet he's the best English striker in the last 10 years. Plenty of world class players have, relatively speaking, few trophies.

true true
apart from the 82 world cup were we beat the mighty spain in their own backyard :D

Shearer, the best English striker???????
Maybe the game was missing a Kenny Burns, Jim Holton, Dave Watson or a Norman Hunter during that period. Shearer is a slow, rush, push and roughen type of striker in which anyone one of those defenders mentioned above can deal with him easily. Put Roy keane on him and he will looked mousely and will resort to some heavy accented bad words to irritate Keane. There was a mention to bring back Shearer to the England's team and it would mean bringing back the standard of the English team.

Its good news that there is no clear favorite
for the No 1 jersey!!! They are all good players and this will make them more determined to play well to push SAF to play them again?????

P.S Do you think this is the reason Giggs is not a his best at the moment, No real contender to push him????????
