Barcelona: Charged with corruption .... again!

Xavi will sign for them. I think he has favorable conditions: no pressure to get immediate results and a lot of young players who already have some La Liga experience. It can only get better from where they are.
I doubt the fans will be fine with Barca being shite for another 6 months. Xavi or no, they will start whinging. It's not like Koeman isn't a Barca legend. Though the way he waddles about you'd be forgiven for forgetting.

Koeman was a big legend for the club and I will forever cheer his goals against Porto :) , but nowadays fans are more familiar with Xavi, and he's a La Masia former player too which also helps for local fans. I think fans will cut Xavi some slack for a few weeks, they know things are looking bad and changes are needed.

So Barjuan until they get Xavi permanently. It did work out pretty good last time they hired a former player with little managing experience.

It can go quite wrong for an inexperienced coach, so it's also a risk for Xavi taking the job. I think Pep will go back in a few years, now Bartomeu is out no barrier to it.

Don't think it was Bartomeu he was against. It's all of it. The club runs themselves like a country ffs, holding elections every few years to choose a president. Whoever's in charge is more concerned with winning the next election than doing what's best for the team. And all that left Pep to do an insane amount of day-to-day work, he even used to be responsible for organising the team buses and making sure everyone had the right sponsored gear.

Unless Barca realise they are a football club and not a political party I can't see Pep ever wanting to throw himself back into the cesspit that is their managerial structure.

Very strongly doubt Koeman or any recent manager had to do any of that day to day stuff... Pep is a season ticket holder and if he agreed to take the job, would be on his terms given his status now. Pique might well end up as president too. Barca were well run until the Neymar transfer. The model can work, depending on who is president.

Bartomeu wrecked the club with some of the worst transfers in football history (Coutinho, Griezmann and Dembele!) and insanely expensive contract renewals. Spent money like water and thought the good times could never end with revenue always growing in double digits forever.

Koeman is shite, but he's a more accomplished coach than Ole surely? He did very well with our national team, Feyenoord and to a lesser extend PSV. He was decidedly meh in England, but still. What did Ole achieve before United?
This. Give him this United team and we will not be worse than Ole thats for sure. Based on their managerial career and skill comparing Ole and Koeman is an insult to Koeman itself.

Sad to see our great club is mocked every other hour now... The board need to feck off! This is not on Ole.

After all the wet arses had their meltdown about Barca dumping Koeman and getting Ten Hag (That's how big clubs operate! Look at us just standing by while they sort themselves out! Why can't we be decisive for once!) turns out they're just like us, hiring a legendary old boy to revive the glory days.

With Xavi lined up he'll need some top coaching staff.

"Man United have given Barcelona permission to speak to Carrick, Phelan and McKenna"

Who are you talking about?

ETH is never going anywhere near that dump.

Besides, Barca can't afford a top manager and there's nothing to gain by managing Barcelona. Their entitled fans/board are living in lalaland and expect silverware.

I do hope they don't fire Ole on a plane on the way back from a game. We do things with a bit more class I hope.
Is it really that important? If he gets the sack, he gets the sack. The way to do it matters very little when everyone is disgruntled.

Barcelone have had elected presidents since forever, same for Real Madrid. I don't know how widespread this practice is in Spain, but I think some Portuguese clubs do this as well. In any case, given the history of success of Barca and Real, it seems odd to connect their current issues to this practice.

Another legend of a club being made a mockery of. Just accept that he wasn't right for the job, pay him his respects, and move on. But do not diminish the character of a legend for the club who like our manager, scored a champions league winning goal. The abuse he was subjected to is sickening, and not deserved at all.

Xavi is a big risk. From where I am sitting it is vital that Barca qualify for the CL. I am not saying Koeman was a fantastic manager but Xavi only has experience in Qatar which is what, equivalent to League One football?

Barca are probably thinking this is going to be Pep Mk II. However, it could easily be Alan Shearer Mk II.

Or Ole MKI

Ole’s become a meme at this point, keeping him in the job any longer benefits no one. In fact it just damages all involved even more.
Whether or not Ole's a 'meme', what goes on social media, whether he's used for banter, what goes on on Sky Sports, whether the journalists are piling on him, whether Neville criticizes him enough, it really all should not matter.
What matters are two things, what goes on on the pitch, and points on the board.

They sort of go hand in hand though as what’s going on on the pitch and the lack of points on the board is the reason for the memes, the online banter and why opposition fans are all chanting “Ole’s at the wheel”.

Yeah well the banter didn't come out of nowhere. It's because what goes on the pitch and the points on board are bad

I'm talking about the countless fannies who turned up from page 80 of this thread onwards. The same ones who make every single thread about United's failings.

Yeah, people have to become real. You only become banter material if you deserve it. I mean you don't see anyone doing it to Pep or even managers like Jose who were once great and not so much anymore.

Klopp to be fair may get a bit of banter but he is now a Dipper so that is just par for the course.
