Banned ?!

For what and by whom

I stick up a post about whinging Utd fans of which there were bucketloads after your last two defeats and I get banned !

Why ?

Im not a racist, I never bang on about anything like Munich or some such equivalent nasty shit, you know, really hardcore shite that some people on here get away with. I hardly ever post in the Utd forum and am guilty of the odd gentle wup amongst a lot of the banter that goes on here, and you could argue my winding up is far less than almost any other non utd poster.

I'm pretty fking harmless really and one of the few who is actually level headed about the faults of their own club

so what the fk is this then?

I thought the days when you got banned for the hell of it were over. Whats the fking point ?

Do you want only Utd posters on here that lick each others bums forever. If you do you should say so and we can all forget it.

If you want to ban me for absolutely fk all at a whim then I'll go if thats what you want

Banning me for saying some of the cafe are spoilt brats is er actually the mark of being, dare I say it, a 'spoilt brat'

And how is this done? I put up a new thread which for some reason did not go up and I repeated it. The next second Im banned with the message

Refusing to listen to advice (later changed to 'unspecified reason'?)

Date the ban will be lifted: 9th March 2011, 11:00

What fking advice?? Of course being banned I could nt then see any of the three messages that were in my inbox!! so I'm banned for not being able to read the so called 'advice' being given !! by who? As I still havent read them having only logged on just now. I assume you can check that I havent even opened them so how the fk would I read any advice :wenger: I dont know who they came from. I assume its from Pogue Mahone who then came up with some comment in the thread

"I deleted the first one to give him a few minutes to think about how stupid he was making himself look. I'll leave this second one to hang round for posterity."

Really well given the context it dont look any less stupid now than it did then. Banning someone for it though .........o yes, that's sooo fking cool

Oddly enough, threads having a go at United fans in general aren't that welcome, especially as you'd already made the same point in plenty of other posts in other threads. :rolleyes:

And you needn't single out any mod either as I think it was unanimous.
 
I deleted your childish thread and infracted you with an explanation as to why I was doing so. I asked you to only start threads in the football thread which were about football. Not a big ask really.

You then proceeded to re-post the exact same thread, ignoring the previous infraction. Hence, you got a ban for a couple of days.

There was a gap of 18 minutes between the first and second attempts to post the thread you got infracted for.

I suggest you wind your neck in sharpish, if you don't want a much longer time out.
 
Well just take it easy, just a short ban nothing hurts. I do enjoy reading Jopub posts sometimes.

Now, you could all respond by saying "well yes, but I wouldn't go on an opposition board cos I have no interest in it"...and that would be exactly my point. You wouldn't. I wouldn't. Most of us wouldn't, so I actually find myself having a greater deal of respect for these oppo fans who do spend a considerable amount of time on here debating the merits of their clubs against a sea of opposed thinking, than I do for a United fan in the same position, being biased and agenda driven in the safe haven of a sea of biased and agenda driven (and often it must be said, deeply humourless) posters. They're swimming against a tide, and leaving their comfort zone and are essentially the ethnic minorities of the forum, and I'll stick up for them anyday over their white-middle class 18-35 year old male counterparts laughing at them for being "not from round here" whilst comfortable in their likeminded surroundings.

.....Some might well then say "well they should at least respect the forum they're on and accept our way of thinking, and deserve everything they get if they come here and tell us differently"...to which I'd reply "Hello Richard Littlejohn, would you mind awfully fecking off and dying painfully"

In short, I actually prefer chatting to oppos, and wouldn't post on here nearly as much if there were less of them. I often think we have far too many fans who've no idea what it's actually like to be a football fan at all. We've had so much success that some people really don't understand what it's like to be a regular fan of a regular club. Some of the crowing at other fans of clubs who don't have the same constant stream of success as we do (which is pretty much every fecking club) and how they react to that often strikes me as a bit sad and pretty classless (Rafa poetry notwithstanding, cos that's just fecking funny) and I will doth my hat and offer my respect to any fan of any club that takes an interest in the history of other clubs and other teams and generally seeks out knowledge and understanding of football and it's fandom and stirs debate.... Rather than just thinking being the most militant "my way or the highway" red (or blue) makes them some kind of uberfan, when all it is really is the mentality of a hooligan....

..And hooligans never looked good in hats.

We are spoilt and self-entitled!

However, with so much recent success it`s really hard not to be.

I think many fans out there really do fear that we are on the decline and simply winning everything provides a temporary sense of security.

We still have an amazing team and are competing on THREE FRONTS STILL.

A great ride is a head of us. We could win nothing, we could win it all, or we could one trophy.

We still have Fergie too.

We are all very lucky to be passionate fans of this amazing team.

You come across as a man who realised the point he made was actually quite silly, and that no one else agreed with him, so decided to change tac to a more comical self effacing dismissiveness. That could certainly be seen as a positive quality....If you like.
 
Nah, I see it more along the lines of me backing down and opting for a light-hearted exit from a situation where I'd made an accurate - but slightly unkind - observation.

I mean, come on, you don't really see your role on here as analagous to battling against the white middle class on behalf of ethnic minorities? Isn't that the teeniest bit self-aggrandising?
 
Jopub, to be fair I think the way the post is worded makes the content seem worse than it is. Using language like "Moan Fking Utd", "biggest whining bunch of fkers ever" and "Spoilt fking brats" was never going to go down well.

If you had started a thread about United/United fans moaning and not used insults and swear words then it might have been better received.
 
What next? An Arsenal fan crying about other teams getting too many penalties?

And that is complete bollocks

I posted the thread and it did not go through and five or so minutes later I posted another

There was no explanation about anything

I did not ignore any "previous infraction" as I did not get to see anything anywhere from you. I assume after my first attempt to put that thread up you pm'd me that infraction then right ? Is that the case.?

If that's the case you'd also see if I opened the pm from you, which I did not as I did not know it was there, the proof of which is the fact that right now it still remains unopened which no doubt you can see. Don't you get some message that tells you a mail has been oponed/received on here?. I thought you did.

So if it has not been opened how the fking hell could I have ignored something I had not seen :wenger:

So not having seen anything from you suddenly I'm banned and of course can then see there's a pm notification from you that now cos Im banned I cant fking open !!

I'll be honest, I don't see much wrong with Jopub's thread, and think banning him was over the top.

It'd also be a massive shame if we lose opposition fans on here, as it's one of the best things about the 'caf. Yes it's a United forum, but it has a reasonable minority of Arsenal and Liverpool fans, plus the odd fan of Chelsea, Spurs, Leeds etc. - and they add a different perspective, a bit of balance, and are generally (Glaston perhaps excepted) far less biased and jingoistic than most of the other posters on here.
