Television Band of Brothers & The Pacific

I wouldn't put anything currently airing on the level of BoB or The Wire, ... but there's also Severance. If it lands the second season it'll be a classic.
I keep trying and I just can't get through S1.

If it didn't intrigue you pretty soon into the season, it might not be for you. I never had a "this is finally getting good" moment, at least. I was hooked from episode 1. Still, might be worth trying a couple more episodes, maybe it will hit you.

BoB is close to perfection, alas it gets a bit cheesy and tacky at times.

To me The Pacific is more interesting because that part of the WW2 is not too overused in TV and I really recommend the Sledge's book he made out of his diary.

I've tried several times to binge the Pacific after BoB, but never managed to complete it. Probably because BoB is 11/10 and also very heavy to digest and Pacific, whilst being decent is not a patch on its more well-known sibling. Also the Theater never really interests me as much as Europe due to the latter being closer to home.

Am halfway through BoB this is my first watch. Am really struggling with it, it feels so slow and I can't get the sense of greatness that everyone else apparently feels.

I'll make it to the end but am not feeling it.

BoB, as others have said, is in a league of its own. Just top, top quality television. It's up there with GOAT mini-series, like Chernobyl. To see what these guys went through, it's just remarkable stuff. In many respects it feels like an accurate dramatisation of several episodes of the legendary World at War series narrated by Laurence Olivier. Still the gold standard of WW2 documentaries. That's how good BoB is.

The Pacific, while well worth the watch, is several tiers below BoB. It doesn't make it anywhere near my list of all time great series. The writing, acting, and story-telling perspective are all of a lower quality. Of course, it is all comparative, because this is in comparison to BoB. As for Masters of the Air, I found that to be a million miles off both. The air scenes were largely incredibly well filmed, but that's about all I have to say about that series that's positive. I thought that was one of the biggest TV let downs of the year. Incredibly mediocre series. Which is absolutely no shade on the real life story, and is purely aimed at the TV dramatisation.

Really? I finished it for the first time a week or so ago and, though my expectations were sky high, I feel it largely delivered. Up there with Chernobyl in terms of limited/ mini-series I've seen, as remarked above.

Surprised you find it so slow - thought there was plenty of impactful action! The second episode really grabbed me with the landing and the assault on the guns, and there's two episodes back to back in the second half of the run I thought were particularly strong too. A compelling lead character as well.

I'll persevere maybe watch a few in a row.
