Ben Smith BBC saying player is still in Italy with talks ongoing with players representatives in England, no chance of any deal being completed in time for Monday's game.
Apparently Liverpool are asking for assurances about his behaviour , rumours say that may have to be in the contract.

Can't see it being done for a couple of days yet assuming it goes ahead.

To be fair, I'd say United fans are more arrogant (it's understandable though, I guess) followed by Arsenal fans, but Liverpool fans are definitely more deluded, closely followed by Tottenham fans.

But give it a few years, and if we haven't won any titles the arrogance will die and the delusion will increase amongst us, as it surely did for Liverpool fans.

Football contracts mean jack-shit nowdays.

I cant be arsed to look, but I would guess at seeing 'getting his head down' , concentrating on football' and 'sorting his behaviour' statements the last time he moved too. Hes beyond changing.

That doesnt mean he isnt worth a punt, he will give you a dozen brilliant games a season, he'll be better than the southampton bruisier for another 15, and be worse than useless in the rest.

That is what he gives, and in todays market for 16 million it isnt a bad deal. Its the pretending this time will be different that bugs me.

Have to agree with that. Think he'll be a mix of Anelka & Collymore.

If his attitude is like Anelka's was when he was here we'll be fine. He strangely never played up, maybe just wasn't here long enough for it.

Fair enough.

I love the Liverpool spin on everything.

Evra was called "negrito" by Suarez. Suarez sold for the release clause. Balotelli being offered a deal of about 115,000 inspite of people like Di Marzio claiming that the deal is significantly higher.

The BBC are reporting £120000, but they clearly are just putting a spin on it, right? I choose to believe Barrett over most journos when it comes to things involving Liverpool and Everton.

You said the same BBC shit when it came to the Suarez fee even though Barcelona announced it in their press conference.
Obviously you'll choose to believe Barrett because it suits your agenda.

What agenda do you think I have? It doesn't bother me one iota whether we got £75m or £65m. Our club says one thing, Barcelona say another. Of course I'm going to believe the figure that our club tells the media, what supporter wouldn't?

Yeah, I do choose to believe Barrett over other journalists. He's local, works for by far the best national paper and has proven a countless number of times that he is usually right with his information.

So the BBC have a Liverpool agenda, yeah?

He is on his way over:
Balotelli to Liverpool FC edging closer as Mario flies in for medical

Aug 22, 2014 12:09 By James Pearce

Striker will now travel to the North West and meet manager Brendan Rodgers

Mario Balotelli's £16million move to Liverpool is edging closer with the Italy international set to fly to the UK later today.

After further discussions with his agent Mino Raiola this morning the Reds received the reassurances they wanted about the striker's willingness to agree to behavioural clauses in his contract.

As a result arrangements have now been made for Balotelli to travel to the North West. He will meet Brendan Rodgers face to face and begin his medical.

Di Marzio is usually quite good for Italian football as far as I'm aware.

The poor bastard, just when he thought he'd finally escaped from there.

He is, well he has a good reputation at least.

I doubt Mario will take a pay cut. As with most of these things (wages, transfer fees etc.) There will be more than one figure put out there - who you believe probably depends on who you support but arguing over it when no one knows for definite is silly.

You know you're asking for it when you have to put clauses in a players contract regarding him being an absolute liability.

Strange move by Liverpool imo. But I must say, I do like Balotelli, great entertainment, so long as he's not playing for our team. Good to have him back in the PL.

Agreed. He won't be taking a pay cut. I doubt many players his age are moving and keeping their wages the same either so I imagine there will be at least a small pay rise in his wages. Beyond that, it is conjecture from us as to which journalists to believe.

BBC are only reporting what your club has told them. A fact which seems to escape your head.
You can believe whatever you want to but as the Suarez/Evra fiasco proved, your club have an history of briefing wrong things.

If we get him for 16m I think its good but so hard to know whether he'll be positive or negative. Could be both as odd as that sounds!

A clause in his contract to not act the cnut? That should be a clue as to why you wouldn't want to sign him.
Ah there are plenty of cnuts out there who are great players. Just look at wilshere.....

Wilshere is a cnut yes, but Balotelli is something else.. Like Grinner said, having to put a clause in the contract about him acting the twat speaks for it's self.

If he didn't behave for Mourinho or Mancini who was like a father figure to him then I don't think Rodgers has a chance TBH.

Yeah it's a bit like a prenup. If he signs with that clause it suggests he intends to improve his behaviour. I still think he's a handful and if he knuckles down could really impress. He's almost at this peak so it really would be silly of him to waste his talent but then we've seen bigger wastes in the past.

Jose is talking a bit of shit there to make a better story. Eto'o started upfront with Balotteli, who was sent off in the 60th minute.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story!

Either a very brave move by Brenton or total and absolute stupidity. This is the kind of gamble that will make or break his career.

You could be right for both individuals here which is why both have buy in to make it work.

Both might not be capable of making it work. Brenton strikes me as a man that overachieved last season and is now biting off more than he can chew. As for Balotelli, he is clearly unbalanced.

Andy Hunter and James Pearce are both saying he's taking a massive paycut of his basic wages and that his contract is hugely incentive based.
