I hope this is just another tabloid tale...
They can't be wrong forever, sadly. Good for them if they can spend so much money. I don't see the problem.
Godin is a past it, was a fantastic player in the past..Is he actually any good. I don't really watch much La Liga (and when I do it's the big games) so definitely no expert but why haven't the big Spanish clubs (or PSG as he's French) snapped him up?
From what I've seen, CB I'd be most fearful of them getting would be Godin.
£475M spent in 18 months by Pep Guardiola.
How much of that has been on the defence?
£57M bargain for a central defender.I hope it’s not true but can see it happening. He’s lost his way a bit but has the potential to be a monster. 6ft 3, strong and a bargain at that price.
In a word where some idiots dropped 75m pound on Van Dijk, you can bet your ass it exists.£57M bargain for a central defender.
Does that exist?
That has more to do with France's options and him being injurd for quite a while.
I think we were interested in the past as well. Not sure if that's the reason though.
Will take their spending to > £300m...double ours.So with him and Fred coming in, that's another 100m spent.
What a genius Pep is!

He is potentially very good. Just not sure City are the club to go to improve as they don't exactly concentrate on defending. I am furious with him. The players pleaded with him to stay and he did and has now dropped them in the shit. They have a kid at CB and another kid trying to get his fitness back after cancer and a backup. Nunez and Yeray are both relatively short as well. Laporte was the height in that defence.Much like with Liverpool, City’s defence is always going to be exposed due to how high their full backs play.
I don’t think Laporte is a world class upgrade on what they have. He’s maybe better than Stones and Otamendi, but I wouldn’t say it’s a vast difference.
Bilbao are on a really good unbeaten run in the league after a dodgy start. His form has really picked up and he is looking back to his best again after a bad injury. What’s his form been like this season?
Of course. They are hypocrites. Doubt they will be called out on it though. Is this the same Man City who allegedly pulled out of the Sanchez deal over money alone?
Further highlights how much bollocks the have been peddling
Gimenez has regressed quite a lot.Is this guy much better than José Giménez who will be available on a free this season end?
I know laporte is better on the ball but IIRC Giménez was considered the best young pure defensive talent on the planet a few years ago.
I would love to see us sell Rojo and buy Giménez, give him the #5 shirt. He's a great header of the ball and compliments Bailly who is nothing special when it comes to aerial duals. He has even admitted that he dreams of playing in the Premier League
He is a really good defender and can come out of defence with the ball and can pass the ball. He potentially is the one who can fix that defence and that is worrying. I wanted him here as well, but we have done it on the cheap. It might work for us, but we have to get DDG signed otherwise the defence will be shown up badly. He has saved their skins a few times.Gimenez has regressed quite a lot.
Laporte is a much better version of John Stones. Class defender and I hate that he is going to City. Wanted last summer to go for him instead of Lindeloff and the summer before that to get him instead of Bailly.

I think it is more Deschamp is an idiot. Funny enough he nearly got a cap a few month back. Koscielny got a head injury and it looked like he was coming off and Laporte was ready to come on. Koscielny stayed on and the chance was gone. Spain were sniffing round on the residency rule, but now he is leaving Spain that chance might have gone as well. He could be moving to make himself more high profile. He is a cracking defender. If he's not better than Koscielny than he's not worth whatever the amount City are paying for him.
While I find it very weird that suddenly City are paying Laporte's huge release clause and the price just seems too much, I don't think this kind of logic should be applied in such cases. Fernandinho wasn't a Brazil international when City signed him for about 35m, so everyone went nuts, yet it was probably City's best business in those years. And Brazil's midfield are options are something else to France's options are in pretty much any area.If he's not better than Koscielny than he's not worth whatever the amount City are paying for him.
He costs us much as Bailly and Lindelof combined, but he is better than both of them. He would also be a perfect partner for Jones, Bailly or Smalling. We had money to go for him instead of Lindelof (to be fair, I rate the Swede too).He is a really good defender and can come out of defence with the ball and can pass the ball. He potentially is the one who can fix that defence and that is worrying. I wanted him here as well, but we have done it on the cheap. Also weren't City looking at Inigo Martinez, maybe he has regressed a bit as well? Yes Bilbao now get a load of money but their options to spend it are limited and we now need another CB.
Couldn't have put it any betterJose has a reputation of being a chequebook manager whilst Pep is seen as some sort of managerial genius that builds from the bottom and creates greatness. Yet this transfer will highlight that Fraudiola is an even bigger chequebook manager. Concedes 4 goals and decides to get another > £50 million CB. Yeah that's right, you conceded 4 because of your shit defence; the way you set up against one of the best counter attacking team had nothing to do with it.
Not that the media will bat an eyelid to it though. Their media-gasm will continue.
City would lose something in an attacking sense as I'd imagine one of Silva/Sane would drop out for a defender if they made a change to 3-4-3Expect to see the 3-4-3 soon
Not everything is about Sanchez, let it go you’ll be much better for it. Not wanting to commit high wages on a 29-year old in a position we are by far the most effective in the league, is not the same as agreeing to spend a hefty transfer fee for a 23-year old, in an area we have two good defenders for 2 spots, and then nothing beyond that.Is this the same Man City who allegedly pulled out of the Sanchez deal over money alone?

We already have one older attacker in Aguero who will cost a fortune to replace in a few years time. Replacing Sanchez would have been just as difficult!
