owever using it as a yardstick to place him lower than Lindelof who is quite prone to errors even when he is being played in his preferred position isn't fair.

Prone? he has made 1 this year...

I am not saying to forget Axel's error, however using it as a yardstick to place him lower than Lindelof who is quite prone to errors even when he is being played in his preferred position isn't fair. Place Lindelof at LB and see him struggle. Give Axel the amount of game time Lindelof has received at CB and you'll understand why a lot of people rate him. Last season the manager of Aston Villa told Ole to forget about spending 50 million on a "foreign" defender because, according to him, Axel is a class act.

I think there is so much focus on Tuanzebe vs Lindelof, almost as they play in different teams. For United's future, it is cruical that both of them are succesful as it is necessary with three CBs of high PL standard, imo. Ole has chosen to play Lindelof /Maguire as his first choice, and one reason is probably because you need to give a CB pair many matches together. This United totally failed last season. As I see it he also prioritzes to develop Tuanzebe and make him ready for the PL. Could be that Axel will start against Newcastle since he played Lindelof in Europa league.

1?
He’s made multiple. If he’d only made 1 error all year he’d be better than Rio and Vida combined. Take off those rose tinted glasses.

Please READ. 1 this year. What mistakes has he made? Instead of stating multiple give examples.

If you think the Southampton goal was his mistake then I'm afraid you are struggling to understand the sport.

I'm guessing that Axel/Maguire will be our partnership for the weekend, it'll be the only thing I'm looking forward to about that game.

I doubt he would struggle that much since he partially played left back (and right back) in the Sweden team that won U21 Euros and was named player of the tournament for Sweden.

I'm guessing Ole wanted to keep his CB pair intact, otherwise Tuanzebe as CB and Lindelof as LB would make sense.

Nope, hasn't played at left back. And nope, wasn't player of the tournament. However, he was in the best eleven among two other swedes. Never heard anything about "best player in the team"-award at any level. He certainly wasn't best in Sweden anyway. And funny to compare playing a U21-match with playing against Arsenal.

Doubt it. Axels mistake cost us the game against Arsenal, and Lindelof and Maguire played well together.

He shanked the ball out of play, he’s missed numerous headers, he’s misplaced passes, he’s made errors of judgment. All players make errors. If you don’t see them then you need to get new specs. So over the overly sensitive defenders of Lindelof, he’s not a top class defender, he’s decent no more no less.

When a “one time he made a poor pass ending up as a throw in” is used as example that a player is “quite prone to errors” you know you have different views on things.

Axel will get his chances, nobody needs to be worried about that. At the moment he had not really go the chance to show what level he is at, and therefore nobody could evaluate if he is better or worse than Lindelof. We will see.

Exactly, every footballer makes errors. Your words, so we should get rid because he shanked a ball out of play on a rainy evening?

I guess VVD isn't a top class defender because he's made a few mistakes this season.

I guess Vidic was not top class cause he made mistakes V Torres.

The things some people come out with..

We all know Tuanzebe will get his chance and it could be next game or by Feb but to say Lindelof is error prone is clearly an agenda to get rid of him.

Fans have got to a point where they name names of everyone who doesn't start or is sold. People actually think Fellaini shouln't have been sold or Lukaku and Sanchez.

Ah ok so I said we should get rid of a player who kicked the ball out of play. Enjoy specsavers dude, you’re trying to create drama.

Replying to a poster who stated Lindelof made zero errors all year. Which is very much untrue. Even Messi makes mistakes.

Prone to error? and you bring up slashing the ball out of play? I don't need specsavers to realise Lindelof has been decent this year given the fans like you are waiting for EVERY mistake he makes.

I assume you also blamed Lindelof for the Arsenal goal for being in the wrong place?

I actually said 1. not zero stop making stuff up. If you say a ball slashed into the crowd is an error then every time a striker misses the target it is an error?

He gave the ball away in his own half that lead to a goal. If the reward for it is getting upgraded to a start the next weekend, there won't be any accountability left in the squad. I wouldn't mind Ole sitting him down for a few games and looks like that's precisely what's happening. It just sucks that the only other option is Rojo.

Yes. Axel is very talented and looks like he might become a great player, but right now he is not ready for a starting role under the pressure that the team is under. Both him and Greenwood need to be protected against the massive expectations in relation to their young age and huge lack of experience.

I doubt that is the reason why Tuanzebe didn’t play. I think Ole wanted to add experience to the team playing AZ and added DDG and Lindelof to it. I think Tuanzebe will play on Sunday instead of Lindelof, who else has to play three matches in a week. But this is just my own speculation. Could also be he is playing both, but don’t think he will let Tuanzebe sit on the bench as a consequence of his mistake.

Ok 1 which is also pretty near impossible. All players make errors every match.
I’m not the one saying any player has made 1 error in 20 plus games. Only a fool or a fan boi would post such tripe.

Yes he’s a decent player, where did I state otherwise?
No I didn’t blame Lindelof, that’s you again with the drama. It was Tuanzebe’s error and misplaced pass.

I think this is the perfect match for him to start as CB. Newcastle have scored 4 goals in 7 matches so very little risk he will fail and the tempo should be relatively low. Much better than putting him as LB.

Yep, happy for him.

Was just going to write well done by Ole for giving him a start after his mistake last week but just heard it’s because Lindelof is injured. Good opportunity nonetheless, hope he plays like he has in the cups.

Tuanzebe needs to play well today. This is another chance for him to show that he IS a good CB. As of yet I haven't seen it, all I see is ridiculous hype surrounding him.

Yes I saw that as well. The price for playing on those artificial pitches maybe.

The error thing is weird. He's 21 with around 30 games in senior football under his belt.

It'd be fecking weird if he didn't make errors.

I agree, we should not expect him to be at PL level in that sense, but it will come with matches. Rashford is also 22 like Tuanzebe but has 100 PL matches instead of 5-6.

Has been pretty dominant in the cups, one mistake doesn't change that.

Newcastle 1:0 Man Utd
He's mint.

Flawless today at centre back. I haven't a fecking clue why Ole put him at right back. Maddening.

The only one who actually looked like a professional footballer today.

Motm. Great performance from him. If Lindelof is called iceman, I think Axel should be called freezer, very comfortable on the ball & likes to play forward. I think he can cement his position over Lindelof this season.

The only positive from today. Not perfect - he did play his man onside before Maguire made the block, but looked good other than that

I thought that was Young who played him on?

Either way, yeah, another positive showing from him!

Decent enough, but the defence isn't the problem anyway. We're going to concede goals as long as we have absolutely nothing going forward and no balance in midfield. Between Wan Bissaka at right back, Shaw being decent enough when fit at left back (nothing special but not awful), and Maguire/Lindelof/Tuanzebe/whoever else as 5th choice, we have a good enough back 4 group. It's the rest of the team that is so far behind.

Looks comfortable on the ball despite costing us the Arsenal points. Agree with him being the only positive today.

The only positive today. Great to think we could have another player coming through that might actually be good enough. Shame it's such a shit side these lads are coming in to.
