I thought they were trying to lower the bloat of their squad? It’s almost one in/out at this stage if they get Caicedo on top of this

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone considering Fofana is out for the entire season, Badiashille is coming back after the season starts from a 4 month injury, Thiago is 38 years old, and Colwill who hasn't got the greatest injury record either. Chalobah has continuously been linked with a move away so I guess that will accelerate now.

They just can’t stop spending
Why do people keep saying this? We’ve signed a grand total of 1 senior player with an eye for the first team (Nicolas Jackson) this window. We’ve sold about 15 players and haven’t really signed anyone yet.

I thought the idea of this guy on our shortlist was that he was going to be relatively cheap as a replacement for Maguire. He's not turned out to be that cheap.

Maybe because you signed 28 players last season. You've also signed Nkunku this summer by the way.

£35 mill? I would say that is relatively cheap. Annoying if that was our first choice if Maguire left.

Neither will be starting, though. Silva and Colwill will almost 100% be our starting pairing.

Nkunku was signed in January and announced in the summer.

How cheap were you expecting? This is why we rejected £20m for Maguire, replacing him with a decent rotation option won't come cheap.

Chelsea forming an all-mid team. Truly impressive how they managed to sign most of the mediocre talent around Europe in three transfer windows.

38 million for a 25 year old out of France doesn't strike me as a particular bargain. It's just kind of..okay.

Good, dont want us to sign him, he is about the same level as Badashaille. Remember people raing about him on here a couple of years ago. He is hugely over rated, Badashaille is actually a better centre back than him for me.

Lukeba and Todiba for example personally think have a much higher ceiling than him

not that fussed about it if we miss out on him. Not the kind of player we need i believe, if you see him play he is kinda like Maguire but a bit more technical.

I remember people saying that this guy wasn't that good when he was linked to us earlier in the summer. Still, this Chelsea situation is really bizarre. How can they be signing and selling everyone?

I think their new owner must be an FM player. Seems to really get off on making shit loads of signings every transfer window just for the thrill of it

Sometimes panic is warranted! It's obviously a buy in reaction to losing Fofana.
Age also makes it obvious, at first I thought it was another 20-21 yr old you could flip later on. Seems like you'll be expecting an instant impact.

Just a decent CB who doesn't get injured all the time will do if I'm honest. He doesn't need to be incredible.

I don't know anything about this guy but I did look at his career injury record and apparently he's only ever missed 2 games and that was due to COVID.
