ah i see! good! he's bratty and his style is boooring!

his match is on ESPN right now...i should go watch it.

It'd be better if he actually played tennis instead of hitting aces all the time.

yes...I think he should not hit his serves as hard so his opponents have a chance to return them and possibly beat him.

 Watch out for Nalbandian in the bottom half. It could be Roddick - Nalbandian in the finals.

Yes, he's a boring baseliner

federer beats hewitt.

i know im biased, but jesus christ hewitt was unlucky. hewitt was in control unitil that absolute bullshite foot fault call. after that he won 1 of the next games in 11.

the fourth set he was still unlucky, 2 over rules going federers way and a couple of net courts.

at least lleyton put in 120%, better than phillipousis the pretender.

Mark Philippoussis' Australian Open dream was destroyed thanks to a brilliant display by Moroccan Hicham Arazi.
Arazi upset the odds on Australia Day to leave the home crowd on the Rod Laver Arena disappointed.

The unseeded Moroccan, who prefers the claycourts, appeared to surprise Philippoussis with an aggressive serve-volley game.

He dominated against an out-of-sorts 10th seed, clinching a 6-2 6-2 6-4 win when Philippoussis sent a backhand long.

"I was very happy with the way I played today. The key was the returns. I was in a good day today," said Arazi.

"I have played him many times. It is always a good match. Today, unfortunately, he didn't play his best tennis."

No Moroccan has ever reached a Grand Slam semi-final and for Arazi to do so he will need to overcome third seed Juan Carlos Ferrero, who progressed after beating plucky Romanian Andrei Pavel 6-4 3-6 6-3 6-2.

Also through to the last eight is David Nalbandian.

He took three sets to achieve what Tim Henman failed to do in five and beat fellow Argentine Guillermo Canas.

Canas had been through successive five-set marathons, and less than two days after his near-five hour epic with Henman, he could not match Nalbandian and went down 6-4 6-2 6-1.

Nalbandian, the 2002 Wimbledon runner-up, has not dropped a set in four matches and next faces either Lleyton Hewitt or Roger Federer.

"He was tired from the last match, but I played really good," said Nalbandian afterwards.

"I feel great, I played a great match."

exactly. think he came into the net once in his last match.

pleased Federer's thru tho wish i hadn't seen the result (above), match hasn't been shown here yet.

did manage to see JCF live last night  looked a little weary towards the end and a few too many unforceds but he has 2 days off now so hopefully this morrocan won't be too much of a stumbling block!

Nalbandian is always hanging about like a bad smell! hopefully Agassi will beat Roddick to the final cos if JCF's gonna get there (finger's crossed) he'd be a better suited opponent!

gimme a J...gimme a C...gimme an F...ra ra ra! etc. :D

I'm just criticising his style of play, considering most other tennis players actually work to beat their opponents.

All players work to beat their opponents. Its not as if Roddick hits an ace on every shot and walks into the dressing room without breaking a sweat.

I know that, but it just seems that that's all he does every match.

The same arguement was levied against the Williams sisters a year or so ago (mainly by people who didn't like the fact that they were winning everything in sight). Like them, Roddick is playing at a higher level.

Agassi is tearing up Sebastian Grosjean.

First set 6-2.

I'm for Agassi to win it again. He hasn't broken sweat except for the first set against Paradorn on Sunday.

Roddick VS Agassi will explosive.

Grosjean retired after the first set and 0-2 down in the second.. :annoyed:

There seems to be quite an abundant pool of talents in the last 8, would be a disappointment to see more injuries.

The McEnroe interview with Agassi after the match was class. They are born comedians these two.

Marat Safin has beaten Andy Roddick 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-7, 6-4 for a place in the semi-finals.

It was an excellent match, best of the tournament for me so far. I hope Safin can go on to win it as well, with no aussies left he'd make for a popular champion.

Shows how much you know. Safin and Roddick have similar games. Hard serve and volley. Powerful ground strokes.

IMO federer is the best...he has that little bit of magic in his game..the passing shots..winners..he can play em from any angle... whereas roddick depends purely on power... hope he wins

I think this entire year is going to be a 3 way war between Roddick, Federer, and Agassi.

I don't think you can write off Hewitt and Ferrero either. And then there is always Safin. And possibly Philippoussis and Kuerten. It's going to be an interesting year.

In the womens draw it's an all-belgium final again. Henin-Hardenne against 'Aussie' Kim.

But at least he has some good shots at the net rather than fecking baseline all the fecking time

Go back and see. Their games are virtually identical. Serve - volley (that means going to the net).

Difference:

Roddick stays at the baseline a lot more than Safin

You don't watch alot of Tennis do you. Roddick has the hardest serve in Tennis. He serves and volleys. He plays some baseline, but the nature of his hard serving game dictates that he gets alot of easy put aways at the net. The same applies to Safin.

Most of his plays are still at the baseline.

Most of everyone's plays are at the bassline unless they're playing on Grass. The nature of serving and vollying however, is coming to the net.

Hewitt's world ranking has slipped alot in the past few months. I don't know what happened to him. This could be a breakout year for Ferrero, though he'll have to show that he's more than stereotypical clay court specialist who spends his spring/summer amassing points on the European clay court circuit while everyone else is in the US. If he can somehow pull this one off then it will improve his confidence alot. He should be trying to win a few Masters Series events in the US this year.

But baseline is boring.

Most great plays are rallies in the net

womens tennis the THE most boring...the top four are always in the semi finals and gap between them and the rest is too big.. in the mens game the competition is excellent...you hardly ever have the same finalist because there are so many players capable of winning the tournament,,.
