Australian Open

I'll get my g/f to post in this thread. If i can drag her away from the TV.

She's off to Melbourne next week to watch it live while I go off camping and drinking with the boys. You got to love that. Tennis is shite, ping pong with bigger bats and a bigger table.

Couldn't sleep so have watched most of the nights tennis. Roddick got a mighty scare there, that Ali lookalike was serving for the 2nd set and buggered it up when he looked well on top, could have been so different.

Tennis is great. Federer should win it, although it'll be tougher than previous years.

Hi mehro

Finally some proper tennis is back. There are no bets placed yet, just observing the possibilities ;)

Just watched Serena Williams, he's a dam fine player and a top bloke too, no doubt.
You probably didn´t hear Pat Cash recently...

Pin is taking Sharapova to a third set, and Maria is struggling in the heat.

Maria's just blown a 5-0 lead in the final set. 5-5 now

Maria is so feckin hot!!
She is showing so much up top everytime she bends over during the breaks.

Finally wins 9-7

Today my bets on: Gonzales, Hewitt, Tursonov, Mirza, Schnyder and Hantuchova, together nice odd 4,7

Maria is so fecking hot :smirk: :smirk: :smirk:

Federer easily through versus Björkman. 6-3,6-2,6-3.

Don`t see anything stopping him this year either.

poor mirza, if she wins her game she'll probably meet hingis in the 3rd round.

also, ferrero lost. :(

She did beat Hingis once last year.

I guess but Hingis isnt in the same bracket as Sampras is she? Especially these days. Also whereas even though Sania has a long way to go, Paes was an absolutely rubbish singles player. Anything is possible.

actually, hingis is right up there amongst the women right now. last year when sania beat her she had just come back. she's worked her way up since then and is currently seeded 6th. still, anything is possible. sania might not even make it to the 3rd round.;)

did anyone watch baghdatis lose to monfils? i didn't watch the game but i'm not too surprised with the result. monfils has a really good game. i remember him from the french open last year. was very impressive.

I saw that match, the ending atleast. He didnt look like he would make it into the 4th set. I like Baghdatis though, the atmosphere he brings is just different.

commentator on Eurosport said that after 3rd set there was odd 12 on Monfils

that would be a good bet

But Baghdadis should have won, for the competitions sake.

Monfils will be a hard one to beat. i expect him to make it to the quarters and give someone like hewitt or roddick a good fight.

baghdatis, to me feels like a future roddick now. a good player who could do a lot better if it wasn't for federer.

He does seem to have a pretty complete game though. I'm a big Federer fan. Saw him for the first time when he beat Sampras at Wimbledon and its a pleasure to watch him ever since.

Golf sucks. Tennis is a great sport. Federer is magnificent. Needs the French this year though.

I don't know why people keep comparing Tiger with Federer. Golf's barely a sport.

I doubt there'll ever be a better tennis player than Federer

sania didn't make it. bad for Giggsy PO.
