Australia v South Africa

Don't think anyone would've the balls to do fixing after Asif/Aamer/Butt debacle. Guess it won't hurt to admit that sometimes batting disasters can happen

Fixing is highly unlikely considering it would have to be both teams in on it, and at least 15 players would have to be in on it in this case. So yeah, shit just happened. Combination of a moving pitch, poor shots and good disciplined bowling lead to the fall of 23 wickets yesterday.

Great innings by Smith too, good way to come back into form.

Yup, stellar innings from him.Interesting stat about him is that he's the most successful batsman in 4th innings run chases. He averages over 80 in our win chases and only about 20 when we lose in the 4th innings. Remarkable.

Great knocks from Smith and Amla. Dropped catches lose matches, but less so than horrendously flimsy batting.

Ponting and Haddin will surely be playing for their test careers next match; post-Argus CA will be keen to swing the axe.

The acclaimed cricket writer Peter Roebuck has been found dead at a hotel in Newlands, South Africa.
Roebuck, a writer for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, was 55.
He played for the English county Somerset, made a home in Australia, and built a reputation as the best columnist on the sport.
He travelled widely with the Australian team, and was also a radio commentator for the ABCs.
It is believed he was spoken to by police earlier in the day.

Peter Roebuck dies

Really sad....he used to get a bit carried away sometimes, but 90% of the time he was a very good writer.

Only just found out, very sad news. One of the best cricket writers and great sports journalist. His columns and articles were always enjoyable to read.

RIP Peter Roebuck

Suicide confirmed

South African police have released a statement confirming that Roebuck took his own life.

Roebuck plunges to death from hotel window after police questioning Andrew Stevenson, Chris Barrett
November 14, 2011

PETER ROEBUCK, regarded by many as the finest cricket writer of his generation, fell to his death from a hotel window in Cape Town on Saturday night after being questioned by police about an alleged sexual assault.

Roebuck, who had written on cricket for the Herald since 1984, had been covering the Australian tour of South Africa for the paper. He was also commentating on the tour for ABC radio.

A Cape Town detective and a uniformed police officer from the sexual crimes unit began speaking with Roebuck, 55, in his room at the Southern Sun Hotel, Newlands, about 9pmRoebuck, who was agitated, asked a fellow cricket journalist for help. ''Can you come down to my room quickly? I've got a problem,'' he said. He asked for help to find a lawyer and for contact to be made with the students he helped to house in Pietermaritzburg, near Durban.

Minutes later Roebuck fell to his death from a window. It is believed only the uniformed officer was in the room. Paramedics rushed to the hotel but Roebuck was pronounced dead. Police established a crime scene and took personal items from the room, including a laptop.

Captain Frederick van Wyk of Cape Town police said an inquest into the death had been launched. ''An incident occurred last night at about 9.15pm at a hotel in Claremont where a 55-year-old British citizen, who worked as an Australian commentator, committed suicide,'' he said.

getting weird now...

I smell foul play here. A policeman is in the room with him and allows him to jump? Somethings not right here.

Cronje, Woolmer and now Roebuck. Can noone associated with South Africa die a normal death?

Aussies need 15 runs with 2 wickets left...

All over, Australia win! Series drawn 1-1.

Another great match and series between these two, I wish they would play more test matches.
