Australia are building a good side, aren't they?

Their fast bowling seems to be stacking up superbly.

So many 140+ bowlers.. Cummins looks a bowler, but injuries will probably get to him.. 18 and bowling that fast..

Add Marsh's performances in SL and excellent backup keepers in Paine/Wade to our young quicks and the future is very bright.

No doubt Cummins and Pattinson will be managed carefully by CA; we don't want this to end up like Bracken.

JezChan,

Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh i've read good things about, Khawaja looks a player, Paine's a superb batsman and a very good wicket keeper

The bowling depth is just ridiculous..

England, SA and Australia are going to be so far ahead of us(India) in another 1 year it won't even be funny

What the feck?
Did they just score 60 in 4 overs, great stuff from them

Oh and I agree with you Zing. All three of them will be ahead of us in no time, all of them have great bowlers unlike us.

Australia:

Johnson, Lee, Tait, Bollinger, Harris, Siddle, Hilfenhaus, Cummins, Pattinson, Nannes

South Africa:

Steyn, Morkel, Tsotsobe, Parnell, Theron

England:

Anderson, Broad, Tremlett, Finn, Bresnan, Shahzad, Dernbach, Onions

India:

Sreesanth

Aus, SA have some great batsmen coming through as well.. we should just give up on cricket or something

Can't believe they're only playing 2 test matches. Usually a great series between these two, a fantastic T20 game today.

Bit rich naming Sreesanth IMO. Just name Zaheer Khan and be done with it.

It's 2 test because of.. I forgot the reason.. but they're making it up by making the return series a 4 test one.

Was supposed to be 3 each initially.

Was just being sarcastic with the Sreesanth shout. Zaheer's finished, I think. Harsha Bhogle tweeted during the England series saying Zaheer won't play the Aussie tour. By the time he's back, I think he'll be too old.

Australia:

Johnson, Lee, Tait, Bollinger, Harris, Siddle, Hilfenhaus, Cummins, Pattinson, Nannes

Nannes won't play for Australia again; he's 35. In other news, South Australian Peter George (who you might remember as yet ANOTHER debutant to take Tendulkar's wicket) has just taken 5-28 off 11 overs in a first class match against NSW.

Smith has been in terrible form, some booing as he went back to the pavilion.

He's been way past horrible. We have other young guns who are scoring heaps of runs domestically but aren't getting a look in because of Smith's influence in Cricket SA. It's sad really. I think he should be sent back to play 4 day cricket to get his test form back. He should only focus on Test cricket as far as I'm concerned.

We also have so many other young exciting talents like Obus Pienaar who's a natural striker ala Gibbs and bowls at 150 clicks. I really hope Gary Kirsten starts choosing players on merits and not because of sentiments.

I don't foresee us doing too great this series since we havn't played any competitive cricket. I've no idea why the players weren't sent to play some domestic cricket at least. Only Cobras and Warriors players had some action in the Champs League T20

I heard Jacques Rudolph has been doing well in the domestic circuit. Why isn't he coming back to the team?

Oh and Kirsten will give preference to the younger ones, so don't worry about that. Excellent coach.

Rudolph was scoring buckets of runs when he first got into the side but he just lacked the temperament to succeed at international level. I don't think we need him. Plus he had long enough to prove himself. He's a good cricketer and I'm glad for him that he's scoring runs but we have more exciting youngsters that should get their chance. And he's mainly a test player, nowt wrong with our test side batting except an out of form Smith.

Thing is, I want Kirsten to stamp his authority on our selectors and the seniors that be. There's too much 'clique' things going on in SA cricket. If you not part of the clique, you not getting in. And in any event, why aren't coaches given free reign in terms of selection in cricket? All other sports the coach has full reign and has to carry full responsibility.

Clarke is playing a beautiful innings so far. Treat to watch.

Dale Steyn is a monster.

I was just thinking this. He's by miles the best fast bowler in the world. I'm grateful that he's such a natural athlete so he doesn't get too many injuries. *touch wood*. Not sure what we'd do without him sometimes. Philander was a surprising inclusion. I'd have thought Tsotsobe was favourite but I guess the fact that it's Philander's home ground and he can bat explains why he got the nod ahead of Lonwabo

He's the best bowler in the world. He has the ability to do something on every type of wicket. Hussey out!

Yup class innings by Clarke, very aggressive as-well. Have to say I've been disappointed with Tahir so far, been very average. Also disappointed Cummins didn't get a chance was looking forward to see him play.

I think we should watch out for Tahir in the Aus second innings. Newlands is infamous for delivering a spinners paradise after 3 days. Clarke was just amazing. What an innings.

Shane Watson, 5 wickets in 20 balls. Surely amongst the quickest five wickets haul ever!

What utter feckery from SA. 77/7. 5 for Watson in less than 4 overs. Insane. That's probably it for this test. We going to lose this one.

Follow on saved mate, you can rejoice :p

Losing 5 wickets to Watson. It just shouldn't happen at international level.

Seriously? Watson has developed into a quality bowler in the past twelve months; very useful to throw on and break a partnership. Backs himself for every ball he bowls and has been getting results for a while now in all three forms.

Yeah he has but that was shocking batting from us. Poor isn't the word. Harris and Watson didn't do much with the ball, certainly not like Steyn and co did and yet we lost 7 wickets for 47 runs. Our lack of game time showed horribly. I don't see how we decided to play you lot now after not playing any cricket for 3 months.

Definitely lacking serious graft in the batting lineup. Rudolph could've done better given his recent form, Smith really needed to anchor the innings and Kallis out for a needless shot.

Let's see if Steyn can get this ball talking now.

EDIT: Well, Watson goes after three balls lbw to Steyn, hawkeye showing it would've been high and leg side.

BCCI should take note of the referral system used in the Saffers Innings. Btw, lack of preparation from SA clearly showed. Some shots were pretty poor aswell.

Also, it's a bloody shame that Watson was so injury prone in the past, he's a world class talent and invaluable asset to the team.

Ponting now with a chance to prove that he's, "in good form but just been getting out." In at 3 with Marsh suffering from back spasms overnight.
