He did more than Tendulkar has done for a while.
Not being injured and out of the game helps though..
Sachin would never play so badly on such a big event.. i remember some 4 or so years ago, there was this WG grace memorial match or something like that, when Sachin absolutely stole the show, finally getting out to Kumble ironically. Later after the match, i dont know who the opposing team captian was, maybe nasser hussain, but he was like 'i dont think even WG could have played like that'. Class act.
Was surprised to see Sachin actually averages around 55 in tests in the last year, which is pretty good.

 @Lara though.. atleast he could have gotten into double figures..(having said this hel probabily do something in the tests)

I notice you are talking about Tendulkar again in a thread about a match in which he was not playing...

I have heard that cricket is played as much in the head as on the pitch, this tournament has proved that theory.

Lara's better than Tendulkar.

True... Still with Pietersen having the ODI averages he had before this series you can't blame them for picking him.

Tendulkar and Inzaman would've given that batting order a better look. Not sure about Gayle though, must be better openers around.

I dont think it matters who they picked, they lacked motivation.

That statement will please Amol greatly...

Michael Vaughan, how the Aussies wish he'd never been born,
Better than Warne, Oh Michael Vaughan.

Have some of that.

Tendulkar is technically better and Lara has more flair. Lara is a temperamental player and he is not bothered about big matches but Sachin can turn on the heat in big matches.
Lara's the more exciting i guess.. hes got that left handers elegance about him, the high backlift.. but Sachin is technically much better, better balance of defence and attack, and over the years has proven to be the better player, also importantly turning it on on the big stage(world cups, big tests against Australia) Hopefully he can overcome these injuries.

Also according to Chappel and Benaud , Lara would not have made so many runs if he had played for Australia but Tendulakar would've scored more if he had played under Mark Taylor and Steve Waugh

Obviously he would have. It makes a huge difference, thats why hes such a hero here, because he single handidly carried a crap Indian team for so long. Somewhat like what i hear Robson did for United.
