Aus v India v Sri Lanka ODI and T20

Sachin should've retired after the WC.

Has to be said it's looking pretty bright for India. Australia and SL are 2 of the better teams in ODIs and this is pretty much our team for the next WC which is in Aus. Even the matches we lose in, we clearly can improve on clear areas, it's not because of a lack of talent.

Yeah as far as ODIs are concerned the batting unit is set - Kohli, Sharma, Raina to add to Gambhir, Sehwag and hopefully Yuvraj. Even Jadeja's batting has improved a lot.

Think playing Jadeja's a mistake. As good as he has become, the extra spinner is redundant on Australian pitches. We won the WC playing 7 + 4 and should persist with it.

If Jadeja can't be dropped, then Ashwin should be.

We should line-up like this for the next few years:

Gambhir, Sehwag, Kohli, Yuvraj, Rohit, Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja/Ashwin, Irfan, Yadav, PK

Zaheer's not going to be around for more than a year you'd think..

It's not a bad team at all. Irfan at 8 if Ashwin plays, 9 if Jadeja plays. Varun Aaron looks a decent limited overs prospect, as well.

Apparently Shastri was on TV saying Sachin shouldn't be rotated out, give him the chance to get his 100th ton and get it out of the way.. wtf?

I'm not sure why Sachin should retire if he still wants to play, and performing. He still looks a class above everyone else in the team.

Rotation is fine

I'm sick and tired of Sehwag now. Yes he can win you matches but when was the last time he actually did that. His record in ODI's is poor actually. Did nothing in the WC except of scoring 150 against Bangladesh in the opening match and has done since making that mammoth 200 against the Windies. Play Rahane instead, I liked how he played in England.

Also Jadeja shouldn't be dropped, he'll develop into a very good bowling allrounder for India plus he's also a great fielder. If Yuvraj gets absolutely fit, then he's an absolute must in the ODI team.

Also Ganguly said on TV once that Dinda is one of best India's pace bowlers, now I don't know if that's just Bengali bias but then again Ganguly doesn't seem to be one who'll be biased be because of his state.

My team for the next few years would be like this(If Yuvraj is fully fit)

Rahane, Gambhir, Virat, Rohit, Yuvraj, Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja, Irfan, Yadav, PK.

If Yuvraj isn't fit

Rahane, Gambhir, Virat, Rohit, Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja, Ashwin, Irfan, Yadav, PK.

Lol. So your gonna play with 10 men when Yuvraj isn't fit. Your missing a replacement.

Never understood calls for Sachin to retire. He's quite comfortably our best batsman even now.

Agree with KM about sehwag, as big a match winner as he is, he doesnt deliver enough in the ODIs.. Needs to either step up or make way..

Our ODI team has always been set and good. Its the Tests we need to work on and hopefully that aint forgotten as a result of the ODIs being held after the Tests..

But thats just bullshit. How can he be your best batsmen, yet fail to score an international century in nearly a year, while dravid scores five and both Gambhir and Kohli have contributed more over the summer.

He's not a finished batsmen, far from it, but he's undoubtedly in decline and making big mistakes at key moments in his batting.

You cannot put everything down the bin just because he hasnt scored a century though, can you? Has he looked off touch? No. didnt he look the best batsman in the recent test series? He did.

Even now, given a chance to have 1 batsman missing from the indian 11, who'd you think the opposition would choose? Is it because of his past record or is it because even now, he is our best batsman?

Am surprised you mention gambhir and kohli because gambhir was all at sea in the recent tests. a 92 in the ODIs doesnt change that. Kohli is an upcoming star and looks the best of the young lot but he is not better than sachin, even he'd tell you that.

The issue with Tendulkar is, even though he looks in superb form every time he walks out to the middle, he doesn't tend to stay there very long. I'm not advocating dropping him completely, but perhaps play him a bit down the order so he can go out and have a hit at a time in the game when the aim is to score quick runs rather than occupy the crease.

I'm probably going mad but Vinay Kumar is impressing me.

I'd agree with that. He's looking great, but still gets out doing something silly. His wicket first up always gives the opposition a huge lift as well. No better feeling for a bowler getting Sachin's wicket. Would be interesting to see him lower down the order, it would never happen though and would be seen as a slap in the face.

Dhoni's ridiculous sometimes

Always think Dhoni's a nice guy, but he sometimes acts like a complete bully.

Disappointing.

I wish Virat stops reacting to what the crowd says. It's part of the game and he should be professional enough to keep his emotions in control.

Aren't you friends with his cousin? You should pass the message on that most mature people think he's a knob.

I thought he was a future Indian captain...but having watched him this summer, no chance, unless he changes a lot.

It's ok to be fiesty...a captain shouldn't be a pushover. But he is stupidly confrontational, offended by everything, and constantly on edge. Instead of winding up the opposition, or crowds, he's the one getting wound up.

He needs to take a chill pill.

Good decision by the selectors, our selectors doesn't have the balls to do the same thing.

Dhoni banned from Tuesday's match against SL for slow over rates again! A bit tough to be fair, given the M Hussey non-dismissal and boundaries hit to all parts ;)

If it's true that he was reminded throught the course of the match to hurry it up, it's puzzling that he didn't give a few overs to Jadeja given that Raina was able to keep it quite tight. Should be interesting to see how the Indian batting order copes without Dhoni if a few top order wickets fall cheaply.

feck, we're screwed without Dhoni. Give Manoj Tiwari a chance FFS, the poor guy should be given a chance considering our middle order has been awful.

Ponting retires from ODI.

Ponting retires from ODI.

Not formally announced, but generally accepted that he won't play another ODI. Mind you, if he makes some massive scores in domestic one-dayers he door may open up again.

In other news, Ashwin mankaded Thirimanne, but the appeal was withdrawn. He still appears not to have learnt his lesson and is backing up for miles...

Why the feck did we decide to give Raina and Virat the final two overs?

Praveen Kumar- "Teri Gaand Tod Denge Bhosadike"

"Desi gaalis"
The other person is Rohit sharma or Manoj tivari?

Both of them are in the vid. Rohit Sharma is the one with whom the argument is with, whilst Tiwari is the one who is standing and saying nothing.

Something amazing is happening. India need 320 off 40 overs to keep themselves in the series with a necessary bonus point. They're currently 3 for 215 off 29 overs. 106 off 66 balls.

If they weren't chasing a total, they would have the potential to nearly get 400

If India were to win under 40 overs, than Sri Lanka have to beat Australia on Friday to reach the finals of the tri series and knock India out.
