Don't mind me giving my two cents worth, but it seems you guys are giving Red Indian Chief Torn Rubber quite a hard time about what seemed a fairly logical statement. Zidane may well be the better attacker, the better midfielder, but Bramble is a better defender than Zidane. How you guys directly compare players from different positions is a bit beyond me, and for the sake of it, seems pretty illogical.

. But the point I was making is how do you compare a defender and an attacking player of similar ability? Who is the 'better' player, Ferdinand or Scholes? Fletcher or Brown? Park or O'Shea? Now I am sure a lot of you play football and if you do, you will certainly agree with me that different positions require different attributes to be successful. Now I play football at quite a high level as a goalkeeper, but I also play a lot of football as an outfielder. I have quite a bit of pace and a good left foot, as well as an understanding of opposition goalkeepers, which is why I slot quite well into a left wing position or foward position, both which I find relatively easy to play. However put me in defence, and I am quite poor, because although I can attack quite well down the flank and I guess cover relatively well due to my agility, my overall understanding of defending is not up to scratch, and in my opinion being a defender is a lot harder. The only point I am trying to make is that different positions require different skills and attributes, which makes it hard to judge who is the 'better football player' for two players of different positions. That is my opinion, have a good day.

Then you haven't seen Zidane defending. If Zidane was told to play defence for his daily food. He would starve to death....Even Bramble as bad as he is defends far better than Zidane. Thus a direct skill/talent comparison between such opposite players is ridiculous. It's like comparing deformed hands to expensive shoes.
