ATP World Tour Finals: London

Murray's going to win this match purely on his serve. It's just raining aces

Nadal needs to hit flatter. Some of his shorts are very short right now and it's letting Murray hammer them away.

5-4 Murray. On serve. Hard hard match this for Rafa. Great quality of tennis!

This has been the best match I've watched in ages. Some unbelievable tennis.

Nadal took the first set 7-6.

He leads 3-2 in the second.

Why Rafa Why

Does so well to get back to deuce after being 0-40 down on serve and then once again resorts to rubbish defensive stuff and gets broken

I concur. The level those two are playing at.....best tennis I've seen from both players in quite a bit.

Really piss poor stuff from Nadal at 5-3 on the Murray serve in the final set.
Match point, 2nd serve and a pathetic return. Did not even get it in the court

Now he needs to serve it out. If he loses it from here on he has no one but himself to blame :(

Just knew it. Nadal bottles it. Absolutely pathetic from Nadal there. 3 mindless, stupid unforced errors.

Couldn't be tighter. Shame I missed most of it
Well actually it wasn't a shame - it was great, but ehhhhh

Amazing stuff Nadal. 5-3 up and now 5-6 down and serving to stay in the tournament. This has been bottling of the highest order over the last few games

YEsssssssssssssss! What a match. Pheeew!

Nadal's going to give me a heart attack one day

Don't care what happens in the final now. Epic epic epic match this. Got to feel for Murray though, 18 aces more than Rafa, 19 winners more than Rafa, more points won than Rafa and he yet loses it.

Incredible tie break that. Pheew!

Well that was an interesting post match warm down
Well done, Rafa - in the end

He just made it incredibly hard for himself before coming back again. Supporting Nadal is like supporting United. Always do it the hard way!

However yet again Nadal was wasteful on break points. With the form Federer has been in this tournament Nadal can ill afford to that tomorrow.

Great match anyway! Certainly among the best, if not the best of this season.

Well now that we've had time to get over the Nadal match, Fed Djoko will start in just start over 90 mins.

Typically I would back Fed in this match but Nadal has made it to the finals and it just seems that fate does not want another Nadal Fed match because every time they've come close to it recently one of them has lost it in the semis. So I'll back Djoko today.

Just hope it's an energy sapping 3 set thriller like the Nadal Murray match

When the word "clutch" is being defined, it should simply just state Nadal, with a pic of him next to it.

True

Djokovic has had a bad start. 4-1 down. He was woeful in the first 3 games but has improved a bit in the last 2 games. He needs to stop hitting short to Fed's forehand though. I'm sure Nadal will target Fed's backhand a lot tomorrow.

And that is why Djokovic is known as such a bottler. 30-30 on his serve. Simple volley at the net and he somehow hits it long and then goes on to drop serve. He has the mental strength of Arsenal.

Wow. Honestly I would be utterly embarrassed to be a Novak fan when he plays Federer. He just seems to lose any self belief and his game.

From being a point away from making it 4-1 in the 2nd set he goes on to lose it 6-4. He honestly takes bottling to a whole new level altogether. Federer was not even that great today and yet Djokovic ends up losing 6-1 6-4. I thought he'd turned a corner with his USO performance but it really is the same old Djokovic once again.

As for Federer, if he plays like he did today I can see Nadal winning this tomorrow. Nadal is tactically very good and I'm sure he'll do something to nullify the Federer forehand.

I just hope that Nadal recovers physically for tomorrow's match. Tomorrow will be his 3rd game in 3 days and today's match was particularly exhausting.

"It seems like it's working this week," says Federer following his victory. "I played well against a player who's had a great season. I played a great match so I'm very happy. I hope I can keep this up for a long, long time. I'm really enjoying myself and I hope I can produce something good tomorrow. Rafa showed today why he is the best player in the world at the moment and it should be a good match. We haven't played that much recently but I'm looking forward to playing him. Our styles match up well and he's always very respectful, which I appreciate. We've had some epics and some matches that didn't quite live up to expectations. Hopefully tomorrow will be a great match."

I'm sure that's a dig at Murray

Why?

Since when? They always seemed alright

Nah. They don't really like each other. Fed-Nadal have great respect for each other. Nadal Djokovich love each other and even play doubles at times together and often train together. Nadal and Murray respect each other. Murray and Federer however have no real respect for each other. They've had a number of media "mind games". Fed has many times made various excuses after losing to Murray and has also on some occasions called Murray a bit rubbish

He and Djokovic don't exactly get on too well either. Basically among the top 4 just Nadal seems to get along perfectly well with Fed without any mind games or media slagging off whatsoever.

I'm sure thats more of a dig at Djoko.. he and Fed have had some serious issues, remember Fed once making a comment to Novaks parents during a match.

Since when? They always seemed alright

If Murray was going to lose to anyone on Saturday, you sensed the only consolation was that it was Nadal. The two have always had a warm relationship, whereas the Scot's meetings with Roger Federer have had a much harder edge.

"I just love playing against him," said Murray, who hugged his rival across the net at the end. "As a sportsman, I don't know if there's been many better than him ever in terms of the way he conducts himself.

"His whole team that he works with is incredibly nice. I have a lot of respect for him."

Since when? They always seemed alright

Well I think it first started the first time Federer played Murray and Murray gave him a bit of a scare, and after the match Federer commented that Murray would need to change his game from being too defensive or he'd never last long in the game and win big titles. Though Murray's style of play hasn't changed much, but Federer's has changed his tune for some reason saying he thinks Murray will definitely win lots of big titles in future. There have also been some reports(I think Murray confirmed it himself, but I'm not sure) that Federer used to ignore him at player parties and all that.

I'm sure thats more of a dig at Djoko.. he and Fed have had some serious issues, remember Fed once making a comment to Novaks parents during a match.

Yeah Djokovic's parents are douchebags. Federer told them to shut up once in the middle of a match, and then after Djokovic beat Federer at Australia in 2008, Djokovic's mum said; "The king is dead" in reference to Federer and his dad said he was a 100% sure Federer would never beat Djokovic again.

Rafa Fed about to start now. Quite calm about this but hope Nadal can win it. He would have won everything there is to win if he can win tonight. Olympic Gold, Davis Cup, the four Slams and this End of Year Tour Finals.

Vamos Rafa!

"I have to play aggressive and hopefully I'll have a good day," says Federer. Short but sweet. Here's Nadal: "I am a bit tired but mentally I am fine. The most difficult thing today will be the opponent, not being tired. He's playing unbelievably - it will be difficult. He's a great person and it's a pleasure to be playing at the same time as him."

Nadal's looking rather...tired today. Some very unusual shots from him on Fed's serve. He needs to stop hitting the ball so short.

Nadal gets to 0-30 on the Fed serve but as he quite often does, Fed serves his way out of trouble :(

If Nadal can nullify that Fed serve he has a great chance. That serve out wide is hurting Nadal right now.

Nadal's been rubbish and it shows there. 3-4 down and 30-0 up on serve and suddenly a double fault and strange forehand errors and a couple of great Fed winners and Fed to serve for the set now.

Nadal's worst performance of the tournament this has been.

And Fed takes it 6-3. I can understand Nadal being tired but this has been a strangely gutless performance from Nadal. He's not running down shots like he always does, weak forehand errors and playing far too short.

If he continues this way the match will be over in 45 mins at the most.

Nadal really does look a bit tired, shots not powerful enough. And Federer is just returning anything Nadal throws at him.
