Hopefully its only a one year deal. He was horrible v Leicester. I read that Ole likes what he brings to the dressing room though so there is that.
Has he been a great servant? He may have been a great servant but he is not good enough to play for United anymore
Under SAF he was a fairly underwhelming winger, he was usually passable but nothing more than that. Post-SAF I think he's earned himself the title "good servant", although that's subjective, because he's always acted professionally and never complained about game time. He always given it his all when called upon (which is far more than he should've been) under LvG and Mourinho, even displacing some more luxurious and expensive signings due to his hard work, grit and determination. Most importantly has adapted to the various positions he's been asked to play and been effective for the most part. He's not the greatest jack-of-all trades player we've ever had but he's stepped in when we needed him and has even filled in as captain, I think he's been a good servant to the club when you look at the context of his contributions.Has he been a great servant?
At his best he's been serviceable. Has been average to below average throughout his whole career with us. Yeah he's been with us for a while but he's been massively overpaid for what he's given us back.
Keeping Young and having Dalot would be an ideal compromise 'if' we sign a new left back. Come summer and we sign a CB, winger and a CM with no new left footed fullback then its a disgrace. The worst part is Glazernomics mean we probably will not sign a new left back. If we keep OGS he needs to be ruthless in the summer and sign players for competition.One-year deal is right assuming we are losing both Darmian and Valencia. Surely it makes sense as I'd say he brings more to the squad than they do now? Just because City managed to do a four-for-four on full backs in basically one transfer window doesn't mean it'll work for us or that we can afford it. The safer thing to do is to give the best cover option, in this case Young, another deal and try to sign at least one quality fullback. This would give us Dalot, Shaw, Young, a new fullback and then cover from the youth system for the next season, before Young would ideally be replaced by another fullback signing the season after.
We will also likely need at least a CB, probably another CM, and possibly an offensive player as well which is going to eat up so much of the cost. I can't see us getting two expensive fullbacks at the same time.
Disagree with most on here, thought he was one of few who actually put a shift in tonight.

Another game, another goal he costs us. He is one of the worst players i've ever seen play for us.
We don’t need a shift. We need players who can actually do their job. Defensively and attacking wise he fell short.
I agree with this and I've been banging this drum for years. We lack ambition to be the best, which is why we're giving contracts to rubbish likes Young, Jones and MataHe's just a waste of time. Persisting with him at RB til the end of next season shows the utter lack of ambition from the club.
That's a bit harsh - he's up the pitch by instruction trying to attack, not his fault that we lost the ball cheaply - and he still busted a gut to get back.
Anyway, he was absolutely miles better then Shaw, but again, predictable responses in predictable threads.
I would agree, but when its the same thing every single game it's no longer 'not his fault'. Almost every game he costs us a goal letting his man get in behind him.
Put one good cross in and shoved that slimey shit Di Maria into the hoardings, other than that did nothing but run his mouth and clap his hands, nowhere near good enough for the level we are aiming for.
