Totally agree with this. It spread to the England furor as well.Of all the baffling things some posters managed to convince themselves of over the summer the idea that Young is good enough was the strangest.
I know right? fecking Ashley Young good enough to be first choice full back for Manchester United. Beggars beliefOf all the baffling things some posters managed to convince themselves of over the summer the idea that Young is good enough was the strangest.
I'm sorry but that is simply not true.He has had 2 months of good performances, three if I'm being generous across the last 4 seasons. Somehow that earned him a couple of contract extensions and not looking for a replacement to his role in the market. Like @Minimalist said he epitomized a lot of what's wrong with the club right now starting from insisting on accepting mediocrity year after year.
Another season of this guy playing as a main fullback.
Can't be anything more depressing.
How on earth is he still starting for us? At RB of all places. I've no doubt as soon as Valencia comes back which may be Monday, he will be back on the left with Shaw on the bench. Not stating Shaw is a lot better but he's certainly done enough this preseason to deserve a starting spot in his natural position rather than a converted 33 year old winger. This should be his last season at United. He should go to MLS for a swan song.
Jose complimented Darmian, played him all of preseason presumably to get him fit for the season once Valencia was injured, plays him the first game then he’s dropped for Young who had no preseason and about two weeks training. Makes no sense. Darmian is not great but I’m certain he was the better option Sunday. If he’s not going to play, sell him for cheap. Least he’d be off the wages instead of collecting a wage riding the bench. We’re unlucky to have both our RB options injured. Darmian is a write off.
The reason why he still plays at LB is down to Shaw, if he can’t beat Young for a place then I’m worried for him.
