Romas home record in the Europa league this season

    P6 W4 D2 L0 F15 A3

They went through last seasons Europa league campaign without losing a home game. Against Real Madrid in the Champions league in November 2018 their last home defeat in Europe.

In the Serie A this season they lost just 2 of their home games (2-0 v Napoli, 2-1 v AC Milan) only champions Inter lost fewer games at home.

They're some pretty incredible stats. Hope we get it done in the first half, and then get on with the resting and rotation.

Appreciate there’s probably a thread elsewhere, but who do people genuinely want in the final?

I think we’re better than both Arsenal and Villarreal, but I can just see us putting in an absolute garbage performance if it’s an all English final. We play safe and give too much respect to the English teams, it shows in our PL results.
We’re better than Arsenal but I’m convinced we will lose against them. They seem to be a bogey team for sure the last while

Quite clearly Villarreal. Arsenal would be a nightmare, they're absolutely awful, which would make it even more ridiculous when we somehow bugger it up and lose.

Cheers guys. Frankly if anyone gets a red in this game, then they deserve to miss the final. Nice that we don’t Have a chance of anyone missing through accumulating yellows.

    This is correct.

I'm still scarred from the 2005 FA Cup final.

Villareal is also Arsenal, because of Emery. Those cnuts will claim it. We have to win either way to not look like clowns, and much more fun beating the Arse.

I despise playing English teams in Europe anyway, never mind in the final. Hoping Arsenal do their usual trick and balls the 2nd leg up

I like that team plenty of talent in it should be more than enough to get the win..

Hmmm, dunno. If someone got a Nani like red would be hard to say they deserve to miss it

I suspect Pogba, Bruno, Cavani, Greenwood and Shaw will be earmarked for subs.

Understand plenty don't want Arsenal in final if United reach it, they have been a bogey side recently but on Villarreals form is impressive in the Europa league, unbeaten in their last 13 games and won their last 9 matches, they last lost a match in this competition in April 2019 plus they have a manager who have won the Europa league a couple of times.

early goals please and hopefully early subs for some rest ideally

Didn’t Elanga play for the U23s the other day? Is he ahead of Shoretire in the youth-players-to-first team bench pecking order now?

I'm sure had he been available James may have featured, other than Telles for Shaw I'm happy with the XI

I have absolutely no idea why Ole refuses to rest key players/play the youngsters. It seems completely idiotic to me considering our schedule and the result in the first leg.

Surprised at no Telles. Wonder if it’s Pogba or Donny in the midfield two? I’ll go Donny...

    De gea
    Awb Bailly Maguire Shaw
    VdB Fred
    Greenwood Bruno Pogba
    Cavani

Is anyone else quietly hoping we goal 3-0 down with 15 minutes remaining, purely for the entertainment value it would provide?

Almost as if we have employed senior footballers to play football matches, including a European semi-final.

Stronger line up than expected but if things are going well I'd expect the likes Cavani, Bruno, Shaw, Pogba to be subbed off early.

    Changes from last Thursday

    Out - Lindelof, McTominay, Rashford

In - Bailly, Greenwood, De Beek

In all honesty if that was the team and we were level or chasing the game I'd be happy with it, so it is probably a bit mad for one we're 6-2 up in. Oh well, at least it should be a good watch.
