Hopefully will be more focused and fresher for the league now but that stupid result at the weekend means it's out of their hands anyway.
The lack of a decent striker was always going to hurt them. Nearly 6 years for Arteta and so far it seems like they’ve improved but still only have a FA Cup to show for it.
I don't know why people underestimated Bayern so much. In the CL, few teams have more experience and even though you've had a poor season by your standards, it's a cup competition and anything can happen. Though, in the end, the result was pretty predictable.
If that was Liverpool up against Bayern they'd have won. Experience and pedigree counts.
Arsenal have clearly improved but it's another season with nothing, barring a City and Liverpool collapse. They basically need Pep to quit to have any chance of winning the league.
It was somewhat understandable. You were riding a high when the matchups were drawn.
He joined in Dec 2019, so it'll be 5 years at the end of the year.
We've definitely improved. Let's not forget - before Arteta we hadn't been in the CL in almost a decade. He's got us to a QF in his first attempt, and unlike in the past, the tie wasn't over by the first leg!

Played okay for 10mn in the first half, 10 mn in the second half and the rest was uter shite, looking frozen with fear of making a mistake.
Saka had a shocker,Trossard and Jesus brought almost nothing coming on. Just hope they can wake up for the last few games just in case something weird happens and we don't have more regrets.

This game was the most satisfying game to watch all season.

Experience basically won the game tonight. You can be a young and hungry team but Arsenal still have to go through the process of learning to play at this level.
Not gonna lie, that was definitely one of the most enjoyable results in a horrible season

Exactly, we still lack the composure and mentality to be consistent at the highest level. I'm upset right now of course, but I think considering this is Arteta's first dance in the CL with a young squad, we did pretty well.

There needs to be a study done on Arsenal, how everything can go up in flames in the space of a 7 - 10 day period.

It's lack of mentality (understandable with a young squad) and lack of squad depth. We have dropped off in the last 2 games and have looked leggy. With Partey a constant no-show, Jorginho probably doesn't have the legs to be playing as much as he is. Havertz has had to drop into midfield in these big games which isn't ideal.

People criticising arsenal miss the point. They haven't 'bottled' anything, they simply couldn't keep pace with the absurd city squad, while city cast offs are their starters. How many more times do people have to see it to understand the PL has been broken by City's cheating. Arsenal have had a great season, but they tire like all teams. City don't

Yeh, we are getting tired and don't have the bench options (in midfield in particular) to freshen things up.

I don't buy that. Arsenal have been good enough this season to win the league. As they were last season. Last season they were in 1 competition. This season they were in 2.
City is a super team with a super squad I get that but there's no forgiving dropping points against Southampton/West Ham last season, idc if Saliba was injured. There's no excuse choosing to have your worst half of football this season against Aston Villa in the second half. Bayern in the ucl is understandable but the league....
This is where our lack of experience (and squad depth) shows. We are fading in the latter stages of games - it was clear vs Villa and again tonight. No energy, urgency to go up the required level. We're the 3rd youngest squad in the league - by comparison Liverpool and City are 11/12th youngest by age (from memory). That is a big difference in experience and knowing how to handle CL, the league and the pressure moments. City are just a machine and over a 38-game season, you'd be silly to bet against them.

Yeah they didn't impress against Bayern (or Porto previously) but they also don't have experience Bayern have in knockout stage of CL. Also having 2 seasons in a row challenging for title (can still win it this year) and those 2 seasons are probably best they've looked since Invincibles. So being relevant and strong again after many years is already a good thing, can only get better if they continue this way.
And good thing for them (as for City and Liverpool unless they turn around their tie at Atalanta) is only league/domestic games left. Them having poor 2nd halves vs Villa and Bayern probably suggest at tiredness as well so getting knocked out of Europe is a good thing regarding that.

Their European Cup pedigree is pathetic given their domestic success. The Invicibles were average in Europe too.
It is underwhelming. Think even before Roman Chelsea were more successful in Europe, with Arsenal obviously one of 3 biggest clubs in domestic competitions.
But I'd be positive as Arsenal fan - 1st CL season in 7 years and they got to last 8 and lost 1-0 to Bayern at Allianz Arena. Young team, not much experience in CL. They can benefit for next season and the future. City looked poor in Europe for years until (you can say) recently.
Yes I'm feeling positive, think we'll continue to progress under Arteta. It's also Arteta's first time out in the CL and he's gotten to a QF and lost to a heavyweight, not bad. At least we were always in the tie and never got blown away (like in the past). We have to improve our squad depth (especially in midfield) if we're going to be better at the latter stages of the season.
Yeah agree. Spend wise in summer and you'll improve more with players year older and more experienced - and same goes for Arteta.
It was their inexperience that cost them. It was a tie they should have won given the state Bayern are in this season and the upward trajectory Arsenal have been on. They would rue missing a chance to get one over their CL bogey team.
This is Arsenal's weak from hell. A draw or loss against Wolves has the potential to unravel their whole season.
He cost about that (a bit under I think) but he's probably the only "miss" that Arteta has had with his bigger signings. Doesn't seem that he trusts him very much. Looks a bit too lightweight for me.
Whenever I read about the invincibles it reminds me that they lost more games that season than united did when they won the treble. How invincible.
Hehe I was definitely wrong, but I think they Arsenaled just at the right time of the season for you guys - but I definitely didn't think you'd be so accomplished over 2 legs against them, so fair fecks. Really looking forward to the games against Real now.
