The squad depth and bench option definitely improved this season. In CF we have Havertz, Jesus, Trossard and Nketiah to call on, and Jorginho, Vieira, ESR, Elneny are good options in midfield. Timber will return soon as well.
Mudryk made an awful choice going for Chelsea and that 50 year contract they offer. It would have been much better for his career had he chosen Arsenal. Although, Trossard worked like a treat last season, Mudryk would've been a better option for you guys in the long term. I think he is a very talented young player who needs the right guidance and a stable environment to come through.
My belief is that recruitment is the first and most important step to get right towards challenging and winning titles. You can get the greatest manager ever but he cannot win if he doesn't have the pulse on player recruitment and knows how to build a squad. Edu and Arteta have done an excellent job on that front. They got rid of all the dead weight and then added the right players piece by piece. It also helped that you had one or two top talents coming from the academy at the same time. Even if you guys don't win the title this season, I think they have built a young and exciting team that is the most well placed to replace Liverpool and City when Klopp and Pep leave respectively.
Yep, it does prove that patience can pay off. There have to be signs that you're heading in the right direction, though.
So, I had a hard thought about this and I want City to win it this year. I forgot how annoying Arsenal fans are. Doesn't matter if City will win it again, 115 charges don't just disappear.

You cant get lucky with so many signings, what you are seeing is a plan of action that Arteta and Edu have worked on and that has gone largely well. You have seen poor signings from Arteta-Edu in the past, like Willian.
I think City are still clear of Liverpool and Arsenal.
Splitting it like you do... I'd say 50-25-25 between the three. City are both relentless and consistent, and they will be again.
What do you think their collective punishment will be? As I see it and they relegate them...that would be it. They will be back the next year.

Fans, the media, just everybody will at least know the truth about City and the achievements and the trophies they won during that time will forever be marked by an asterisk.
You know I look at quoutes like this and think. Will they "know", I know us rivals will care very much, but how about the rest? The day and age we live in where news and stuff like this goes by after a couple of days... my point is, let's say City don't get the punishment we think they deserve (for example just slap on the wrist, 10p deduction and a fine). Yes there will be outrage, but it will probably last a couple of days and probably mostly by us MU fans (and maybe Pool and Arse fans), but it will go by a couple off days or a week later. That's my worry, if it happens, it will quickly be forgotten and we can't do anything about it and if it does it will piss me off, because look at what happened to Juventus, do serie A fans still hate and remind them of what they did for example?

With or without an actual punishment, I think that is already the case for some of us but in the end it matters little. They will still be widely seen as the most dominant team in PL history. And they will go right back to what they were doing, because so what if you trade one year for a decade+ of success. I dont believe there is unfortunately that much to look forward to here.
I totally get your point and you're absolutely right. With or without the punishment the damage is already done. My 8 year old son plays football and I see many City, Barcelona, even Al Nassr shirts. These little kids don't care about human rights and they certainly don't care about City and their 115 charges.
Us loyal PL followers will know what happened, but the world goes on and I can see the majority of the people, even common football fans, don't give a toss about clubs cheating. You mentioned it already, Juventus was punished and relegated, yet many football players, stars, even Ronaldo signed for Juventus and I myself already forgot about Juventus cheating.
If the FA punishes City (and I'm 100% sure they will, the only question is: how severe will be the punishment), let's say, 10 points deduction and a fine, then so be it.
I have no time nor the energy to cry about it and I trust the FA to do a thorough investigation. That's all I ask for and I will accept any outcome.
However, Manchester United and us United fans know, Liverpool (City's nearest rivals) and their fans also know and we will never let City fans forget about their conduct and cheating.

I think it's inevitable that Arsenal will repeat last seasons slump in the final weeks. They seem to peak too soon in the season.
By luck I dont just mean acts of God. Being able to sign two important players from City is an opportunity unavailable to most big clubs for example, and then somehow managed to avoid Mudryk. I think this is the peak of his career.
That might well be the case, but it might have less to do with peaking too early and more to do with our fixture list being more difficult at the latter part of this season.
City away, Spurs away, Utd away, Brighton away, even Wolves away are all difficult games at any point in the season, we just happen to have them in the last couple of months of the season.
City got going at about the same time Arsenal have started going now, last season. So I dont think its too early for Arsenal.
The question we should be asking is whether Arsenal can maintain this form, because if they have any hope of winning the league they need to win the next 10 games at the very least. There is no recent evidence to suggest that Arsenal can win 16 league games in a row, only City and Liverpool have such records.
This is probably why Arsenal are outside favourites, despite having equal ability as Liverpool.
Most Arsenal fans are probably happy that Arsenal is even in the discussion of a title race, from where we were couple years ago.
They do seem to have found a bit of their swagger back since the return of DeBruyne, but I still think they'll fall short this season as it's tough to produce the same intensity in the closing stages of the season for two seasons running. Also, I think they'll go further than you in the CL and that would affect them too in the league.
I kinda agree, but I really hope and wish they really punish them (not relegate them to div 10), but hopefully the FA just don't give them a point reduction and fine only.

Timber back in contact training now. Partey and Zinchenko hoping to be back in contention for Sunday. Jesus and Vieira back on the bench at the weekend there. Would be great to get and keep these guys fit as the games start coming thick and fast.

Don't think any of these should walk into the starting 11 but it's great to have some depth back.
I was a huge fan of Timber's at Ajax. He was the one Ajax player I wanted when we knew ten Hag was joining. Gutting that we missed out on him but I am looking forward to seeing him in this Arsenal team. The interesting thing was Arteta was playing him as a LB before his injury.
I've said it for a couple of years now but I still think he'd make for a fantastic central midfielder. I guess that's one of the positives that Arteta saw in using him as a LB, though, because, like Zinchenko, he was coming inside a lot; basically becoming one in possession.

Agreed, it’s the options, the chance to rotate or bring quality subs on that i think will be important, especially if we get past Porto and have at least another 2 midweek games in Europe.
The Chelsea game that was scheduled for a couple of weeks away is now postponed due to them playing the FA Cup quarter final that weekend. I’ve read the likely date for the rearranged game would be a few days before we go to Spurs. Also means that after the Brentford game next weekend we won’t have a league game until we play City at the end of the March due to the international break.

Building a squad involves much more than recruitment, it's the work on and off the training pitch, that's the main thing. Don't matter how good your players might be if they don't buy into the manager's methods

Today's game was horrible, we were sloppy and struggled a bit. Don't want to be mean to Ramsdale but we did genuinely seem slightly more jittery. Happy he made those saves and we won, it would have been pretty crappy if we'd dropped points because of that mistake.

I'd think draw best followed by a Pool win as City will do what City do and win a lot of games until the end of the season.
Pool have gotten lucky with recent wins and won't go the distance, fancy them for 3rd actually.
