Arne Slot | Liverpool manager (Posture and/or Sack Watch)

If it was a PL game they are bailed out by the ref with a soft Salah pen. Or even if they had the same officials from the first leg

Leaving the lack of finishing aside. I didn't like Slot's decisions today or lack of them. Jota was on the pitch too much time.
Subbing Mac Allister for a yellow and entering the last stage with a huge possibility of penalties? I didn't get it at all. Later subbing (even if tired as fvck) the rest of his best shooters. I've felt he was thinking too much on the next game without even winning this one.

"Unlucky to come up against one of the richest teams in Europe this early in the competition"

What is he waffling about?

You are miles ahead playing one of the worst teams in the league. You could have easily rested a few players.
I've been supporting Liverpool since the 90's and seen all sorts. Macheda, Slips, Kompany screamers, 3-2 City come backs. Just give me the title.

Liverpool supporting mate saying PSG rested 8 players on the weekend. Looking at the team Slot put out against Southampton I’m surprised he didn’t rest a couple more more players (eg. Salah and Gravenberch) for todays game, given their lead in the league and Southampton being as bad as they are.

I’m still convinced he’s very much riding Klopp’s wave and has had a large slice of luck with Salah’s purple season and City/Arsenal getting his with injuries to key players.

If they do lose Salah, Trent and maybe VVD then Slot will have it all to prove.

“In the first 20-25 minutes we were all over them”. PSG scored in the 12th minute and would have scored again only for poor finish. What is he on about?

It's true that he hasn't had to face any adversity yet. Consistently nearly a fully fit squad to choose from nearly every week with no real competition in the league due to their issues.

Best of a bad bunch this season but down to thier players not Slot.

I can remember numerous games where he's made in game tweaks and changes to win/recover from a losing position. Quite the change in narrative from the summer where most thought we'd be lucky to finish in the top four.

He's been excellent so far and exceeded expectations by a huge distance.

I do think this is a big summer for us though. A lot of changes expected.

What do you think about this long ball gameplan in both legs of this tie? Seemed very weird to forfeit the midfield this way.

Easy to make 'tweaks' when you have loads of options (and goalscorers) on the bench.

You were 3rd favourites for top 4 pre season. I didn't see the struggle myself.

EVen if at times Liverpool chose to play long balls, It was also forced by the rival in the first game.
In the second game Liverpool controlled much of the regular time, specially the second half, yet PSg was still dangerous counters.

100% agree with this.

He didn't in the first leg. He wanted us to play deep and counter but we used the ball terribly. We didn't go long in the first half tonight either tonight but went a bit more direct in the second half.

This idea that the team with the most goals scored in the league and that created the most chances only does that with long balls is silly. Van Dijk plays a couple of cross field long passes to Salah to open the game up and some talk as though we're Stoke or Burnley.

Course they’re riding Klopp’s coattails, they still have all his best players

He's been excellent no doubt. About to become 5th manager (after Mourinho, Pellegrini, Ranieri, Conte) to win the league in his first season (guess we can count Wenger to extent as he won it in his first full season) so that' some achievement. If you win League Cup then he'll be first manager to win a double with Liverpool since 1986.

Van Dijk turning 34 and Salah turning 33 in summer and still haven't signed contract, do you expect them to leave? Have a feeling they're both just pushing for title now and then off to Saudi League or something. Maybe Salah is too good for that but leaving on a high (trophy and his individual stats this season) could be ideal. No doubt that even if they leave you'll get big fee that'll help you in getting new signings.

How would they get a big fee if both were to leave on a free?

If they leave they'll be doing so on a free surely so they won't be getting anything, let alone a big fee.

They deserved it. High point of the year on here? We march on to 20

What was Slot saying about playing it long again?
Hypocrite
I still can’t believe he made that comment. His and Klopp’s entire style is and was based around TAA pumping it to Salah. Considering there are no two players in the world better suited to their respective roles in that tactic than those two, I cannot wait for when they leave, which should hopefully be very soon.

I think Salah and Van Dijk will stay. TAA is going. Salah might go. His wages are a sticking point I think. We won't get a fee for either as others have said, but Salah's wages being off our books would allow some room I guess.

I'm not sure what to think about Salah. His output is crazy but how long does that go on for? Does it drop off next season? Are we better off letting him leave and starting a rebuild of the squad? Van Dijk I think we should be doing everything we can to keep a hold off. We'll never find a CB as good as him.

Konate, TAA, Szoboslai, Salah, Gravenberch, Diaz all started v Southampton and they either got injured or looked knackered against PSG. If he rested more of them it wouldn't have gone to penalties, and even if it did, the penalty lineup could've been less awful. It's not looking good for their little cup final on Sunday too.

Slot's inexperience really showed compared to Enrique, he needs to get savvier and realise he may never get a better chance to go all in on a CL knockout campaign than this season with 15 point title race lead. What's the point of building a >10 point lead if you're not going to use it to gain an advantage in Europe? Even if the academy kids played v 20th placed Southampton and lost it won't matter, ultimately the focus had to be on resting and preparing his best players for PSG given how close the 1st leg was, and then they have the cup final at Wembley. He's not going find quality players like Salah or VVD that easily for a future punt at the CL.

Like the high point of each of your years from 2009-2011 wasn't watching us getting eliminated from the CL by stronger teams in Europe.
I don’t why you picked out those years but yes anytime you got knocked out when we were at our low points was a beautiful thing. Hence the high point of the year on here.
