Are we done then?

Yep that's your lot.Till the January sales where hopes of transfer junkies will be raised and dashed.

We've been done since De Gea officially signed. Fergie clearly doesn't agree with most of us as relates to our midfield.

Steve, as much as I like ya - leave the National Treasure that is Jedward, the feck alone :nono::D

Sorry, mate. This one's for you:

First-teamly Challenged?

Footballers of non-united quality?

Members of the Emile Heskey appreciation society?

Yep, I think we're done in the transfer market, at least for buying. Obviously a couple maybe will still leave, but even that doesn't look certain at this stage.

I'd have liked another midfielder to be honest, but despite losing Scholes Cleverley has come in and had an instant impact so I'd say we're no worse on that front while have strengthened up front, the wings and the back. So all round, pretty happy.

Well this transfer window has been a massive anti-climax.

I expected AT LEAST two from Sanchez, Aguero, Sneidjer, Nasri, Pastore, Goetze, M'Villa, Hazard. :(

What? Gibson's hardly going to contribute this season and is'nt in Ferguson's plans? Its a new look United side he's built.

Yes, he maybe surplus to requirements. But to call him 'deadwood' is very disrespectful. He has scored some big goals for us i.e. Bayern at home. Yes we mightn't have gone through but at the time that was a huge goal.

Nah. The goal is always the same size mate. Its part of the rules of football

Yep, I reckon we're done. Normally when we sign someone late it's one that's been coming. I don't see anything in the pipeline at all. The Sneijder thing is nonsense IMO.

Finds it funny that a bunch of fat lads sitting at their computers gut hanging over the keyboard scratching their bollocks with one hand whilst typing such and such is deadwood with the other whilst said deadwood is probably on his way somewhere on a 40 grand plus per week contract. As Billy Connolly would say "feck you and the partridge in the pear tree by the way"

So, the Sneijder and Nasri interest.....all invented by the media? Remarkable.

Very well could be because like all of us outside looking in, the assumption we've made is we need certain types of players for this coming season and just gone with it. It all started with our dismantling against Barca and Scholes retirement shortly thereafter and from there it was all assumed that United will be buying a replacement for him.

Sneijder has stated that he has spoken to us unofficially. Nasri said we made him an offer.

Unofficially? That means we must be genuinely interested in probably 100 players each window. Sneijder says he talks to a lot of people and am sure he might even have spoken to someone that is in some way connected to United that asked him "Hey would you move to United if they came for you?" - that's probably the extent of a unofficial conversation.

As for Nasri? Thought the latest was none of his first choices came for him so he settled for City - I don't recall him ever coming out and saying that United gave him offer anyway. When was that?

Except that is just you making a load of stuff up. The fact is, he has stated that he has spoken to us unofficially with regard to a potential transfer. We have also been linked with him practically every day for weeks, in the media here, Holland, and Italy. Are they all making it up? Highly unlikely.

I read it yesterday. That he had an offer from both us and Shitty. Shitty's was considerably higher.

Regardless, my point remains. We were not "done" with transfers once we signed De Gea. We have obviously been after players but, unfortunately, they haven't come off.

How would you like to refer to players who are no longer required?

The elitewood would sound shitty. The can do the job wood maybe? Or would be better the 'ready to sit on the bench' wood term?

He never stated it - he answered a question in a half joking manner hahah yes I talk to people all the time when he was asked if he's had negotiations or whatever it was. What's to say that was not his way of just getting it out there that he is open to the move once again without asking for it?

As far as being done afte De Gea, well we are never done are we really? It's not like our scouting network etc stop looking at players simply because we've got a squad SAF is more than comfortable with is it? Like Gill said we've looked at a few players but, we are comfortable with what we have. Maybe Sneijder was one we looked at, maybe Nasri as well and Modric and Sanchez and whoever else. On Sept 1st it's not like we won't be looking at other possibilities for Jan window or even next summer - we don't ever stop.

What isn't obvious is about Sneijder, Nasri et all is that we were after them in a serious fashion other than many people wanting us to be after them. So yeah, all the stories have been made up through speculation as far as I am concerned because if we were serious then we would have made a bid. Heck I'd still want us to be after them as they are quality players who would undoubtedly improve our team. Just seems as pre-season went on and now the season has started , SAF and Co need to fill the void left by Scholes departure has decreased by the day.

Anyone see how chummy saf and arry were walking off after the match?
Probably discussing modric to united, probably.
