Are Ronaldo, Martial, Rashford enough?

Got to respect what he says because he knows what he is seeing in those players. But based on what I have seen, he will regret this statement later in the season.

Tbh you should take whatever any coach said in a press conference with a big pinch of salt. They rarely even mean it.

True. I think we need to get a central striker. Antony is not enough.

We just need forwards who score goals. If you look at City last year they won the league without a proper striker. It was Mahrez, De Bruyne, and Sterling who did the heavy lifting in the goals department. Rashford, Martial, Elanga are not going to get it done, which is why we need someone who can contribute 25-30 goals, as well as the likes of Bruno and Erickson to contribute 25 or so goals between them.

It isn't. Especially if Martial is suddenly a crock.
Ronaldo is, as has long been suspected, utterly whack in this system. Rashford still believes he's more effective cutting in from the left. The depth is an illusion.

Looking at how our window currently goes it's probably not a bad idea for ETH to consider McT as our #9 next match. He's strong, quite fast, tall, work hard, aggressive and actually not a bad finisher. A bit shit on the ball though and doesn't have the brain but honestly can't be worse than Rashford or Ronaldo up there. Starting him there would also send a freaking message to the Glazers and everyone.
My first instinct was to laugh but honestly, I wouldn't be opposed to it. Try him out as a battering-ram style striker. I don't expect he himself to play well on the individual level there (but the same can be said for Rashford), but if he can hold the ball and lay it off it might actually allow our other attackers to play better as a group than they would with Rashford up front.

Rashford is not a CF and can't hold up the ball.
Martial will be crocked for long periods.
Antony, if he comes, is a winger.

As for Ronaldo, he should be binned. Yesterday, he showed his selfish decision making in the dying minutes by not passing to two United players who could have put the game to bed. Instead he made Bruno go wide (a poor pass to boot) and the chance was gone, and the team lost possession too. He offers less now than what Chicharito did in his prime and is a complete liability.

We are essentially facing a season without a reliable striker. Glazers/Arnold/Murtough are making it hard for yet another manager - this time a very talented manager, one of the best we could have got. I can only hope that ETH can grind out results like yesterday until he is able to build his own team.

I was only joking mate he has a pretty shit first touch you'd need to be really tidy to play there. Your not laughing not opposing to it only highlight how desperate our situation currently is ...

Ronaldo leaving and us bringing in Antony and Depay would be ideal, a forward line full of fluidity and diversity as all of the forward line would offer something different.

Definitely not. We need to invest in a new striker asap.

Yes indeed. But who are we likely to get before the end of the transfer window.
It is important that we look for goals from players other than the strikers. Sansho and Fernandez should be able to get at least 10 goals each.

Think City are obviously on a completely different level and a fair period of time away from where we can be if at all. ALso think not having a striker was a downfall for them in the champions league and as good as Guardiola is, he failed in that competition tactically last year not using Jesus there.

We are already seeign the difference a proper centre forward is making to there side this season. They would probably have half the points they do so far this season were it not for Haaland starting games so badly....and I think when they do start well they are going to absilutely batter some sides this season and walk away with the title sadly

We have to be looking for a new striker if we are to be serious challengers for a top 4 place.
We need a CF that will get us 20/25 premiership goals a season.

Not sure I agree, I think there is a reason several sides have been signing proper number 9s this summer.

If we made thos signings and Ronaldo stays we have Rashford, Martial, Depay, Ronaldo as our strikers

Go back two years we had Rashford, Martial, Cavani, Greenwood....Id say taking away management and assessing where players are at in there careers, that would be a considerable move backwards actually.

We definately need a centre forward, and from history and even currently, I wouldnt have faith in those strikin goptions over a season to bring a lot of goals, and in tight games maximise points

Well yeah, we aren't going to invest in a striker this transfer window so we most likely have to stick with Ronaldo and Martial. But it's a necessary investment. Ronaldo is gone next season (might leave this window too) and Martial is too inconsistent.

We should not build a team to feed a striker as we did last season and it was a disaster. But we still need a striker and free flowing system where goals come from everybody.

City are an engine running at optimal level. We are quite far from it. 100% we need a striker who can get 25 goals. Watching Haaland in action yesterday was painful. What a player.

I'm just uneasy spending 80 mill + on a winger who scored 1 goal every 3 games. I know prolific strikers like Haaland are few and far between . Rashford has always been happier coming in off the wing, he has never been a 9. Martial is sometimes brilliant and obviously enjoys playing under EtH but has injury problems. I think Ronnie needs to go, we really do play better without him. We need a 9 to hold the ball up and play in our quick forwards, I don't care if he only scores a dozen goals as long as he makes 30 goals for the wingers when Martial is injured.

The striker market is just so dire atm.

I haven't watched him lately but I was quite impressed with Breel Embolo couple years ago. Haven't heard much of him since so things probably didn't go well for him. But imo this lad at least has the physical to play in the PL. And he probably won't cost a fortune. Good age too.

Edit: he has just moved to Monaco this summer for €12.5m so not even an option.

Contract negotiations on going with Martial ? hopefully its an extra year with a cut on wages weighted with performance related bonuses. We don't want another Jones senario. We really haven't seen enough of Martial to warrant anything more. It not like anyone is falling over themselves to buy any of our players. Update, it seems we are increasing his wage packet , dreary me, on what evidence ? and there is folk on here worried about spending money on Antony.

Yes. We can see what City have done with Haaland up front.
But that level of striker are very thin on the ground.
