Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Right,

I've gone way back on this thread (pretty much to the start)...

Two shows that are continually mentioned are, Justified and Banshee.... My partner and I gave both of these a try, I think we watched 3 or 4 episodes of each and neither gripped us.

However, a common opinion on here is that Justified does improve at the end of season 1 and greatly improves in season 2 going forward.......

Banshee on the other hand looks extremely OTT and cheesy!! What I saw of it, I've little confidence in it actually improving, saying that, it couldn't get much worse... I find it hilarious people who state Sons of Anarchy is $hite then say Banshee is incredible and belongs right up there or there abouts with The Soprano's and Breaking Bad? Son's is far and away a greater show than Banshee... Ok I've only seen about half of the first season, but at the same stage into SOA I was hooked! Far more enjoyable.

Each to their own I suppose :)

So am I right in my thoughts that Justified improves in season 2?

Not that I'm complaining that she does!

Hmm... we're looking for new series to get into so I may give them both a try again.

Downloading Cracker (UTV Series) & Vikings as we speak...

Cracker was v good, not sure how it's aged. They used to film some of the scenes in my Uni class. Think they had to reinforce the floorboards by the lecture platform for him!

Highly recommend A Young Doctor's Notebook.

Really annoyed that I only just realised that one of those weird movie channels (around 320 on Sky) were showing Band of Brothers on a weekly basis. Missed my chance to record the series from the start.

Wouldn't be surprised if they did!

Fantastic actor, watched a bit of it there yesterday afternoon. The copy was decent quality but the ending was missing from the 2nd story! So we gave it a miss then and tried Vikings instead then, got two episodes of it in. Very good so far... Defo stick with it!

Are there really people that said that it's 'up there with Sopranos and Breaking Bad'? I thought most of us that liked it enjoyed it for what it was: gratuitous pulp with little brain but a lot of fun. And Amish girl. I honestly don't think it's a 'great' show but I enjoy watching it and think for pure entertainment value, it's pretty good.

Plus, it pisses off Eboue everytime someone says something good about it, so there's that added bonus to take into account.
Banshee improves in season 2.
What is wrong with you?
Now, I haven't actually seen a single episode of Banshee or Justified, but I have a pretty good imagination.

It's Eboue's favourite show.

I can tell! :)

A few did alright, giving a lot of praise throughout the thread... Pretty spot on summary of the show (what little I've seen of it)... Reminds of that scene in family guy...

Reeeeeeaally overly dramatic, just for the sake of it.

I think it was in episode 2 or 3 of Banshee there was a car chase scene and he is hanging from the roof and the car does like twenty flips and explodes! Not a scratch or as much as a bead of sweat on our hero of course!

They are reshowing Edge Of Darkness on BBC4 from tomorrow, apparently its v good (I've never seen it).

Thoroughly enjoyable wee series, quite dark and Bob Peck is fantastic in it. You can really tell that it was produced in the 80's! Liked the music also, very atmospheric.

Looking to get into a new comedy, preferably something recent enough. Really enjoyed It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia so maybe something similar, any suggestions?

If you liked It's Always Sunny try either one of Parks and Recreation or Workaholics. And if both of those don't do the trick then just watch Modern Family.

Just started watching Longmire.. Anyone else watched it? And how is it, just started and it looks promising..

Utopia. Watched the first 3 this week after noticing a second series due to air. Not sure why I missed it the first time.

It's pretty brutal. Has both the guys from Kill List in it.

Comedy wise, my tops are:
- Arrested Development
- Archer
- Rick & Morty

The two last ones are animated shows.
Heard good things of archer, never watched it though.
Personally, my favourite comedies would be:
  • Arrested development
  • It's always sunny in Philadelphia
  • Workaholics

Has anybody watched People Just Do Nothing?

First season has aired on iPlayer, only 4 episodes at 20 minutes each so worth a shot. Not sure if it'll be for everyone, I wasn't expecting to like it but it pulled me in.

What is it about?

I'd better take the synopsis from BBC as I'm shit at making things sound even slightly interesting.

People Just Do Nothing is a mockumentary series for BBC3 that follows West London pirate radio station 'Kurupt FM'. Led by self proclaimed garage legend MC Grindah and his second in command DJ Beats, these hapless individuals share the secrets behind running an illegal business and demonstrate that chasing your dreams is actually a full time job.

Banshee improves in season 2.
I've seen pornos with less sexual content in it than the first season. Some of the more explicit scenes in that just seemed to be thrown in for the sake of it (not that it's a complaint mind).

I've recorded the first couple episodes of S2, bit of a binge watcher, can't watching them at the time they're aired.

Entourage.. I am starting back again.. Great show...

I finished the whole thing this week. It really was great. It's hard to explain why though?

I watched season 1 and thought it was good, but didn't understand why it was rated so highly but whatever it was hit me in season 2 and got me hooked. Ari Gold has got to be one of the best characters to have been on television.
