Not sure how I never heard of this show before but it sounds like it ll have a Season 3 after 2 highly rated seasons before:
Domina. Drama series set in Roman times following the assassination of Julius Caesar. Has Liam Cunningham in it for instance. Has anyone watched it?
I really enjoyed it. Probably the best TV I watched in 2023 (or close 2nd). I've mentioned it in this thread before in Feb 2023, after watching the first season. Since watched 2nd season too. Took me a little while to adapt when they changed the cast to an older set of actors, as it covers such a long period of time. Kasia Smutniak is outstanding as the older Livia; a stunning performance.
Also liked Antigone and Tycho. Liam Cunningham features a lot in the early episodes then only occasionally after that.
Lots of politics, brutality, sex, casual swearing, humour, assassinations, child-birth scenes, strategic divorces and marriages. The female characters typically stronger than the male ones. The tributes to various gods are fascinating while being hilarious on one level; typically along the lines of - I will give you (that particular god) one lamb, bottle of best wine, cheese etc if the god arranges for X to die a horrible death during childbirth.
If West Wing, The Wire, Sopranos, Narcos, Spiral, Borgen, Chernobyl, The Queen's Gambit are A+, then Domina is A. The show it reminded me of was Tudors (about Henry VIII starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Henry Cavill, Natalie Dormer, released 2007 to 2010)
