Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Watched The Night Agent on Netflix - in terms off your turn your brain off conspiracy thriller type shows, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Gonna start this tonight. I liked the idea of it years ago but was put off by some indifferent reviews.
Just started it tonight as well. The initial scenes of the landing & how eerily quiet Mission Control was made me quite uncomfortable remembering how joyous it was in real life.

Treason on Netflix. Brit MI6 show. Poor. Had a decent tempo for the first few episodes. Glad it lasted only 5 episodes. Was a decent show for the missus.
5/10

I really feel overwhelmed again with the amount of shows and movies out there that apparently are must watches. For all Mankind def sounds interesting to me. Sometimes I miss the days when you would just have to turn on the telly at the appropriate time to catch a gameshow or the news or the 3 or so shows actually worth watching.
Waiting a week for a new episode was great. Everyone was on the same plane and you'd speculate all week what's gonna happen.

There's a lot of good stuff out but most of the "brilliant" and "must see" ones are plain trash though.
Just the other day I realized that it's been quite a long while since we've had a groundbreaking series to watch. GoT (first few seasons) was the last one I think.
Where's all the Sopranos, Losts and The Wires? Stranger Things started strong but turned into bubble gum.

Andor was the best Star Wars material , possibly ever. Peacemaker was great fun. Both completely different, both looked sh*t on paper but both were really enjoyable and worked far better then I think anybody could of expected

First season of the British made “utopia” was excellent if not very quirky. Even though it was out long before covid , it would make you think , “no they wouldn’t, would they?”

True detective season 1 was amazing (haven’t watched other seasons to be fair)

Legion on Disney is a really quirky and different adult comic book series. It’s pure art and the dance scenes are hypnotically funky as feck.

daredevil season 1 and maybe 2 are equally top notch adult comicbook tv series . The fight scenes are superb, particularly one in a prison (that might actually be in sesson 3) that’s hard to forget

Sherlock, the series that elevated Cumbertach, is brilliant

Mind hunter on Netflix is marmite, you either adore it or hate it, it’s very very heavy but I loved it

Westword season 1 was near perfection

Foundation is not at these levels but I enjoy it as a maybe 7-10 series. It looks beautiful and there’s some really savage cast performances

apples severance is very quirky but I’d say 7-10 and least as you want to see where it’s going

Cherbobyl with Jared Harris is a must watch , its jaw droppinglu depressing and superb at the same time

The terror with Jared Harris was also a really enjoyable horror with great character development

Agree with all these but they're all miniseries and so not quite the same thing.

GoT could have gone down as a classic but we all know what happened there.

I'd have The Leftovers and Mr Robot in the same tier as the wire/sopranos, but I know neither of those are universally loved.

Randomly put on first episode of LOUDERMILK and enjoyed it.

BERLIN is suffering from too much focus on the dull supporting characters and soppy romantic sub-plots.

Is Slow Horses worth a watch?

My mum recommended it to me which is an instant red flag tbh.

Cheers, I'll take light watch. Don't need anything groundbreaking.

Great show. If you liked Spooks you will like this and worth watching just for Gary Oldman if nothing else, who is brilliant.

Yea i am watching this also. Its like the other Coben works - not believeable in the slightest, but watchable for all the twists and turns.

Its one of the worst things I have ever seen
Michelle Keegan is beyond awful. Wooden and expressionless and just not a good actress.

As for the show its shit. Beyond shit, waste your time

Come on man, no need to be hyperbolic. It isnt great, certainly not believeable and the acting is average, its still watchable though. Ive seen much worse Coben adaptions by netflix - like the Polish one.

I think they should have set it in America. It would have made more sense given the plot.

It's Thursday a bit of hyperbole is OK.

Watched the first 3 last night about to carry on. I'm impressed so far.

Not sure how I never heard of this show before but it sounds like it ll have a Season 3 after 2 highly rated seasons before:
Domina. Drama series set in Roman times following the assassination of Julius Caesar. Has Liam Cunningham in it for instance. Has anyone watched it?

I really enjoyed it. Probably the best TV I watched in 2023 (or close 2nd). I've mentioned it in this thread before in Feb 2023, after watching the first season. Since watched 2nd season too. Took me a little while to adapt when they changed the cast to an older set of actors, as it covers such a long period of time. Kasia Smutniak is outstanding as the older Livia; a stunning performance.

Also liked Antigone and Tycho. Liam Cunningham features a lot in the early episodes then only occasionally after that.

Lots of politics, brutality, sex, casual swearing, humour, assassinations, child-birth scenes, strategic divorces and marriages. The female characters typically stronger than the male ones. The tributes to various gods are fascinating while being hilarious on one level; typically along the lines of - I will give you (that particular god) one lamb, bottle of best wine, cheese etc if the god arranges for X to die a horrible death during childbirth.

If West Wing, The Wire, Sopranos, Narcos, Spiral, Borgen, Chernobyl, The Queen's Gambit are A+, then Domina is A. The show it reminded me of was Tudors (about Henry VIII starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Henry Cavill, Natalie Dormer, released 2007 to 2010)

I'm re watching the original Star Trek again, it's on Netflix. A product of it's time but the plot points are still very cool in most episodes. I recommend giving it a try because the writing still holds up very well. Plus, the 60s and short skirts, peanut butter and jelly.

Succession was the last great show for me. It’s a must watch.

This is like asking where are the federers, nadals and djokovics of today's game. That period of the 00s was just a freaky one for classic shows.
Tried sopranos and the wire and they did nothing for me. Breaking bad and Game of thrones are the best ever for me
