The notion that only we drag out transfers has been rubbished a long time ago. Why do people keep talking about this
Not to mention the one we supposedly dragged out for De Jong has quite clearly been successful negotiations — a base figure of €65m is a good chunk less than what Barcelona initially started talks over

Incredible piece of business.
Cautiously optimistic about Richard Arnold's reign.

1. Is this going to be our next saga after FDJ is resolved one way or another?

2. For those who have watched both in a few games, is he on the same level as say, Richarlison? Another Brazilian who seems to be a target for Spurs at a similar fee.

3. Considering Ten Hag has a very good relationship with Ajax, and their new manager who is his former assistant, is it fair to say that the Antony saga wouldn't be a very prolonged one? Would imagine the people involved will have enough respect to either agree it can happen or it cannot happen.

1- yes
2- dunno
3- Ajax don't want or need to drop their valuation, we won't or can't meet their valuation, the player looks like he's ready to kick up a stink to join, this one has all the earmarkings of going the distance

I believe people underestimate how important it is to integrate new players properly. Most players performing great out there do so because they are utilized in the right ways, playing in systems that emphasize their strengths and cover their weaknesses. This is especially true for leagues and teams playing in a very organized way which is obviously what Ajax under Ten Hag did. But since you're bringing in the coach as well I'm positive he will know how to integrate players such as Antony, de Jong or maybe even van de Beek.

Sancho by the way is a similar case. He was a terrible fit for your play style when you bought him and it was foreseeable that he would have a difficult time. Hopefully that changes under Ten Hag as well.

Pure hindsight. Pretty much all Dortmund fans expected him to succeed at Utd and were basically mocking any Utd fans that questioned his performances for England or the quality of the Bundesliga compared with the PL. Overall, I don't disagree about your point on integrating players. I do think it helps to have a system that plays to players' strengths, but I also believe better opposition makes a massive difference. We'll see if VDB gets a chance under ETH. I have my doubts.

Raphinha likely moving to Chelsea will only make Antony more anxious as that sort of platform would certainly give him an edge with the national team I reckon.

I suspect our lack of involvement in the Raphinha race means we're probably going to make a push for Antony soon.

I dunno, not totally sold on him for some reason. Maybe it's the lack of physicality or poor stats in the dutch league, I dunno. I feel like we are valuing Ten Hag's opinion on signings too highly and this could be his version of get me Perisic.

Well that and the numerous reports that say we are going to make a push for Antony soon.

I'll be honest I haven't totally been keeping up, I only took the transfer forum off ignore when I saw the de Jong rumours heating up.

Yeah I don't mind signing him but if it's gonna exceed 45m pounds then I'd be out and trust the players at the club already or get an alternative.

The Brazillian head coach (Tite) is reported to have said that he wants his players to be playing in the best leagues to better their chances of making the squad/first 11 for the world Cup. Our very own Andreas Pereira was encouraged to join Fulham over staying at Flamengo according to Brazilian media.

So I agree, Antony will be looking to leave to further his career, and also to win a place in the World Cup team ahead of Raphinha.

Feels like the kind of signing we're going to panic buy for £50m near the end of the window.

The reasons I don't mind going for ETH hand picked targets is because he sees football similar to the way I do, I like total football, press from the front, play out from the back, use short passes to progress the ball.
His targets are also talented and full of promise unlike Mourinho who wanted 28 year olds who aren't world class and who are unlikely to improve further.
If ETH wanted Tadic or Blind (at this stage of his careeer) here I wouldn't be in support. But De jong, Antony, Timber, Malacia are all young and exciting players. Eriksen is older but he's free.

These sort of posts are either trollish or incredibly dumb.

We've been interested In him for a while, how the hell would 50mil be a panic buy when it's way cheaper than what was being quoted at this current stage.

Sounds like good business if they haggled down, where does the panic bit come into it

Yea, ‘panic’ and buy a player we’ve been pursuing for months.

Even though I disagree that this would end up being a panic buy, there’s a certain Belgian with an afro that is proof that you can target a player for months and then still panic buy them at the end of the window.

Can't wait to buy him and make us all fall in love with our football again. I think he has potential to be absolutely great.

I think the two statements are literally an oxymoron. We made a joint offer for Fellaini and Baines long before the deadline day move. I wouldn’t call him a panic buy per se, although I get why you would say that.

What you’ve just posted - how the feck is that a panic buy?

A player that the manager really wants us to sign and for an amount that he is worth considering Ajax wants double that right now?

guy will have to hand in that transfer request. Ajax valuation is mad

sounds like he's telling Ajax don't expect him back until August if they aren't willing to do a deal with United

We should be looking 40-45m deal. If not then we should skip this one for this window.

Didnt say we should not target someone else but considering Chelsea bought Raphina for 55m, Antony should not cost more than 45-50m.

You say that but then Ajax fans see Liverpool buying Nunez for 100m euros and claim that Antony is better than him and he should cost 80m Euros minimum

By the way - anyone knows who's Ajax's current DOF instead of Overmars ?
It looks like they're panicking from all the purchase requests to buy their players and they don't know how how to handle all of this.
