United and Ajax have a pretty good relationship with each other in terms of players. I can’t imagine them being awkward about getting both Antony and Martinez unless we open with an insulting bid for them.

I hear so much people saying Ten Hag's formation is this and that and his fullback do this and that, but Ten Hag his strenghts is that he adapts and has different nuances every year.
One year he plays with a false 9 in Tadic, the other with a target man in Haller.
One year he plays with a #10 a la Donny who is more of a goalscorer, the other with Berghuis who is more a playmaker
One year he play with a real winger at RW like Antony, the other with Ziyech who is more like a playmaker.
Blind is a whole different type of fullback than Tagliafico
Timber is a whole different type of central defender than Matthijs de Ligt
Mazraoui is more a right full back who comes inside as an extra midfielder, but Ten Hag was also very happy with Dest who goes via the wing.
Ten Hag adapts to what kind of players he has in his team who he trusts in who have qualities he values. Then he looks for combinations of players who play well together. Mazraoui-Antony, Donny-Tadic, Schone-Frenkie, Blind-Tadic..
There is not one formula he blindly follows. He wants players who are smart, who he can trust, who have control over the ball, and who arent afraid to press forward. That can still results in many different types of players in the same positions...

How to Bissouma and De Jong relate though. It's not like they're similar players. In truth we need both of their types.
With that Dutch journalist reporting that Haller & Alvarez are the two players are the two players that Ajax are happy to cash in on this summer and Mazraoui and Gravenberch already gone, it wouldn't suprise me if this ultimately ends up being the case. They have no need to sell and every reason to try and keep Martinez/Antony this summer, so they should be demanding prohibitively high prices.

My feeling is if we signed at least one midfielder we would have moved on to other targets. As it seems Frenkie is the one holding all other targets.
I think Frenkie and Fred (or Mejbri or Garner) with Eriksen more forward would work. Bruno would the compete with Amad for the right wing spot

Tbf RVP was a very late bloomer in terms of goalscoring. He didn't reach 20 goals in a season for Arsenal until 2008/09 and 2011/12 was the 1st season where you would say he really became an elite goalscorer. If Antony was to follow this path you could argue it would take him 5 seasons here before he reached similar numbers to what Rashford has in 2 of his last 3 seasons. Obviously Antony and RVP are very different players so can't really draw a direct comparison, but let's not act like RVP was immediately a world beater after joining Arsenal.

I thougth about that, but Im not sure Eriksen fully fits that to be honest.. I think he is too good in the final phase of the game... Schone mainly complemented Frenkie as he was always sitting tight in the central area behind the ball when Ajax was attacking. I think Eriksen could do that but it would be a waste of his qualities...
Considering all the talk is about getting Antony who you yourself said was a real winger, would that not suggest that ETH would want more of an underlapping rb since that is the role Mazraoui played with Antony ahead of him. If Antony plays primarily wide and our rb also overlaps they'll just be getting in each other's way and we won't have anyone covering the half space.

Could definitely be, but it can also work on other ways.. Antony is indeed a real (inverted) RW who works well with an underlapping Mazraoui this year.. But Ajax - in the Dutch league - very often plays against opponents who park the bus meaning the RW often stays very wide. He on the other hand is - if you look at some of the highlight video's for example - also very good at coming inside.. Perhaps at United and in the PL - where more games will have lesser difference in quality between the two teams - there will be more space for him in the opponents half and he will have a slighty different role coming inside than at Ajax, which could argue for an overlapping fullback...
I just dont know.. Like I said.. Ten Hag will look for combinations and try to make it work within the formation as a whole...
No one would have though it would be a good idea to have a slow Daley Blind and a slow Tadic as a left wing tandem at Ajax this year, but they together reach the last line, have more depth and provide more low crosses together than any other combination I have every seen at Ajax...
I think United inability to get deals done quickly is a genuine concern amongst fans and within the club
But yeah if it makes you feel better, it’s just me and I’m just miserable
