On my knees for a right winger so I hope this is true. Also hope ETH gives Amad and Pellistri a legitimate chance as well. Still feel like there is a lot of talent there that we have not put to good use at all.

I will be amazed if we sign a wide player given the players that are still at the club.
What players? Greenwood is not an option. We were fine last year. Greenwood needs to be replaced though, so that's all this would be. It's our #2 most desperate signing after Frenkie in midfield IMO. Right back would be #3.

We have two young RW that won't be starters simply because they're not ready. So we don't really have a RW, because all the other wide players we do have all operate better on the left.

RW was the must buy position for us a year ago and we signed Sancho, who it turned out looked far more dangerous in the left. Not only that but people that watched Dortmund regularly also said he was better on the left.

We still need to fill that position. Amad and Pellistri will more than likely go out on loan again and we won't have a natural RW in our squad.
You should add - RW was a priority even while Greenwood was still here. He's not an option anymore, so it's a priority again.

I feel like people just forget that we essentially had a 100m talent removed from the club and that it needs replacing urgently!

I think there would have to be a court case for that to happen first

Yes, we need a left footballer RW. Great teams always have a left footed RW, Greenwood was doing well before his arrest. I actually prefer signing Antony first. I hope we get RW and CM sorted out first. Lastly, a young upcoming striker.

RB?

No. There wouldn't. Greenwood will never play for Man Utd again, and rightfully so.

Agree with the poster above saying RW is a priority. RB is too.

People should have a look on YouTube of Malacia vs Ajax and think again if he is worth anything close to 40mil

Because legally that would be a dodgy thing to do obviously. That does not mean there is any path back to the starting eleven unless you have about two brain cells.
Well let us keep it legal then as that is what puts people in prison and thankfully people out of it.

So why is he still at the club then?

So your stance is that with Greenwood, Amad, Pellistri and Sancho at the payroll, Ten Hag is not going to want a RW?

Brave view. I’d love for Amad and Pellistri to step it up from benchwarming in lower levels to main men in the top of the PL, it would be almost fairytale stuff. I’d be surprised if Ten Hag, who seem to prefer his wide players to be inverted, will go all in on Sancho on his weaker side. I’d not love it if the club suddenly pretended as if Greenwood was going to play just because he can’t yet be legally fired.

It sounds like a lot of names on paper, before you actually read them.

So are you disputing that he performed well for Dortmund when he played on the RW?

Not at all. Just that Sancho will be playing LW because Rashford forgot how to play football and Martial is well, Martial. So bringing in Antony makes sense to play on the right.

I have a feeling we are looking to sign both this guy and FDJ before ETH next presser, so the club can save face by presenting both player to the media as to have ETH with a more friendly press conference.

Let us see what happens eh?

And what if Marcus overcomes his amnesia?
Sancho will not play on the left over him!

You can say that for Rb where we have Awb, Laird, Dalot and Williams. Or CB where we have Maguire, Varane, Bailly, Lindelof and Jones. Or ST when we have Ronaldo and Martial. We have enough quantity in every position (bar CM), its the quality that is lacking

Don't think that will be a guy that Malacia had in his back pocket

And he won't play or practice until his court case (probably going to be a long way away). And his court case will take a long time. And with the evidence that we all know is out there, there is a negligible chance of him playing football for Man United ever again. Even in the 0.1% scenario that he's cleared fully, he's multiple seasons away from playing again for the club. Nobody is waiting for that. He's as good as done with Man United, and that's why he's not going to be in any squad planning anymore.

You're naive as feck if you think any different tbh.

Yeah people forget he was never a wide player. The long term plan for him would have been to move more central in a year or two and be Ronaldo’s replacement

After the '99 Nou Camp final, never say never. Then you throw in a lot of $$ into the legal system and.... think OJ.

Should have ,would have, could have, probably will/won't
Presuming a lot tbh but let us see what happens.

Where does the DM position rank in the list of importance? Matic has gone and has struggled for years. We desperately need someone in midfield that is defensively minded. We literally don't have anyone there at the moment.

The way Ten Hag seems to want to set up it looks like De Jong will be the deepest lying midfielder next to Fred or McTominay rather than having a sitting DM.

Really not sure about this guy, but the worst it seems we’re back to the same strategy of buying players from former manager teams. It’s really back to square one after dismissal of Ralf, basically, going all in with the manager instead of building the platform for sustainable model.

Sancho will not play on the left over him!

Then we’ll have 3 good options for 2 positions, with youth as backup, which is the absolute minimum we should have.

Look around at the options the teams we are chasing have.

A left-footed right side attacker is simply an asset we should have at the club to have a balanced and varied set of attacking options.

Again, look at our rivals: Mahrez, Salah, Ziyech, Kulusevski, Saka

I feel like Custis is more reliable than people generally think and has a good hit rate lately

Understand not believing his article as a standalone, but let’s see if anyone else jumps on

So it looks like we can work on more than 1 deal at a time….
would be a great signing imo and a position we need someone badly.

It’s like a just read two pages of absolute tosh in this thread.

Where have half of you come from chatting rubbish

Bizarre that one game is used to define a player's quality. Tuanzebe kept Mbappe quiet. Wan Bissaka always had Sterling in his pocket. Meaningless.

I'm not sure if Antony is up there as one of the world's greatest wide forwards, but he's obviously good and was a key threat in a very good Ajax team.

On top, we just wont be able to attract the worlds best forwards right now so….

I feel like it's probably better to be buying players that Ten Haag wants anyway as we should be emulating his style of play for the future. If he fails then at least we'll have players that are suited to a more proactive style. Better buying for him than someone like Mourinho or Ole.

If you’re gonna generalize from right forward to any wide player, why stop at that? Why not go for outfield player? It would be amazing if we sign an outfield player with the amount of outfield players we have at the club. People have been talking about Phil Jones for CM for ages anyway ;)

Do we have a lot of wide players? It's one of the areas we're thinnest in, in terms of numbers and quality. I'd be frankly stunned if we don't add to that area this window. Be it Antony or otherwise.

He’s hardly over the hill and on his last legs. He’s a young player, with room to improve and has worked well for our manager in his system.
How is that not part of a sustainable model?
