Antony at leftback…

How long does it take to recover from a sprained ankle? My point being it might be a short-term option before the January window opens.
Two guys i play with in our 11 a side team both did their ankles and were out for over 3 months. Guess it all depends on severity of the sprain. Albeit, we’re not exactly elite athletes at our age, so that definitely does factor into healing time

If we are going 3-4-3 he could actually be a very effective player for us I think and should be given a chance until the Summer. He would be miles better than Garnacho and Diallo as a wing back as they are too lightweight.
He does do well tracking back for us so could actually be the best position for him. I don't think he's actually a winger in all honesty more of a central player and may as well give full back roll a chance which he could prosper in.
I also think Anthony could actually do quite well in a Havertz role or even Trossard role when they ocasionally play there in center midfield for Arsenal with a proper manager like Amorin playing a high pressing forward and midfield 4-3-3 similar to Liverpool and City and not a 4-2-3-1 with players having no idea when to press. Lets not forget Pep played Raheem Sterling in midfield a good few times as well.

We have a new manager in now and everyone deserves a shot and a clean slate so I wouldn't be righting Anthony off as of yet. Who knows he could yet turn into one of our best players and be an excellent presser in midfield. No need to be picking on Anthony when everyone of our players have been utterly shit all season.
Deserves a chance and could be a completely different player under a proper manager, exciting times ahead!

Many a player has had a reinvention and found their true place. Joelinton and Dembele are two brilliant examples. It's impossible to say quite how well a player will translate to another position, but theoretically, Antony has many of the qualities needed to be an excellent wingback. He has the engine and work rate, he's tenacious, not afraid of a tackle, he's tactically disciplined, and he's good receiving the ball under pressure. I think the big question mark is whether he can see the game in the right way. When to push forward, when to make runs behind, when to track back etc. I think the mental, intellectual part of the game will be the most challenging for him, and indeed anyone making the move.
