Let's hope potential suitors weren't watching tonight. He might be the worst Brazilian player ever. I'd call him shit, but it would be an insult to shit.

Antony cost this club £86 million. 86 million of the King's f'n pounds sterling. When we already had Amad on the books. I'll leave it at that.
Murtough, Arnold and ETH combined were an absolute clown show.

He's not good enough as attacking player so cameos at wingback from time to time is not a bad solution for rest of this season. Then hopefully we can loan him out somewhere in the summer and summer after that.

Bad miss tonight but other than that it wasn't a terrible cameo. Can't be angry with him when there are players that started and were much worse.

What a great shop window performance that was.

I just don't know what he's good at, even his left foot looks shite nowadays.

Wtf was he doing when he came on, looked drunk, with heavy touches and all passes backwards, not even a single decent moment coming up against tired defence and then missed a sitter. If we can get somebody reasonable on loan, get his piece of shit out of this club pronto, otherwise i feel we may have too few bodies in attack (with possible outgoings of Rashford, Garnacho and him).

He’s a clown.

A clown with a shit haircut. £85m….criminal.

And why the feck has no one told him in training to spend an hour every day working on his right foot. The sooner he’s binned the better.

The miss annoyed me , but the fact he is a winger who can’t cross or take anyone on I find a lot more irritating.

He is hands down our worst ever signing. For his sake I hope he goes on loan, he has no future at Utd and he needs to start rebuilding his career.

The Miss was criminal, no idea what he was doing. Seemed to go completely invisible for 10 minutes or so afterwards too, probably shot his confidence further but we needed players to step up not to hiding.

He was checking his f**king studs too, like that was the reason he missed!

Yeah that was poor, didn't really have any quality moments apart from when he went and stood at at right wing back after Amad decided to win the game.

That miss will haunt my dreams Freddy Krueger style. It should not be possible by a professional football player. Nervermind a Brazil international.

Not sure he would start for any premier league team. We will be stuck with him until his contract expires

At this point I'd probably play him lwb at least he may be able to cross the ball, and track back.

Anyone with neck tattoos is automatically a bellend in my book, but having "Iluminado" written across the front of it elevates him into special twattery status. If he's going to look so stupid, have such a shit haircut, and cost us so much fecking money, the least he can do is be remotely decent at football. But he is woeful. I had a moment where I thought he could potentially have a Joelinton type resurrection by being reinvented as a LWB, RWB or combative CM, but that was fanciful. He's an attacking player with no weapons. The open goal miss today was shocking, but forgivable if the performance had been there. But it wasn't, he was dreadful, and then topped it off with that shambles.

Said this before but for a small guy his balance is terrible. He's just nowhere near good enough and Amorim dropped a major clanger bringing him on(although nailed the rest of the subs).

I'm just glad we won and I don't have to start typing things I'd regret about Antony. Shocking miss. Even for him, that's a shocking miss. Thanks for the goals against Barca and Liverpool Antony, but you aren't PL level.
I think that's the bare bones of it and he knows it, his teammates know it and his manager must surely know it by now.

He cannot get a foothold in the game here and there doesn't seem to be any fixing that. Looks to me like even he has given up on that.

The signing of this guy needs to be studied and turned into a Netflix documentary.

There was absolutely no need for him to go to ground for that shot but he clearly didn't trust himself to score a tap in with his right foot and so tried to generate some power by sliding it in. It worked against Everton 2 years ago iirc. On this occasion he looked like an idiot.

Poor miss, but not sure what he's meant to do different whilst already sliding in. Seems like the ball was just a bit behind for him, there wasnt much he could have done.

He has scored this same goal for us before, it doesn't mean anything.

Thought he added some balance and work rate to the team, added with some dumb moments too.
He really didn't have to slide, and indeed that was the reason he missed. The only thing I can think is maybe that the defender was blocking his view of the ball so Antony just slid in as a guess of where it would end up.

bloody hell, the more I watch the miss the worse it gets.
Didn't need to slide, that's poor judgement and bad anticipation.

He did add energy and fight. It would have been a decent cameo if he was 17years old academy player..

I laughed so hard when he failed to put the ball in the net from 2 yds out...and then bawled my eyes out realizing we paid 80m+ for this shit. We need to sue 'Aggy, Murtough, Arnold and co for fraud, because no way anyone thought paying that amount for him was a good idea.

Absolutely shocking player. Can't wait to see the back of him.

It looked like his brain temporarily thought the best idea was to use his right foot to tap it in but then spasmed and collapsed on top of it. I don't even think Antony remembers it.

I thought when he came on the first 2 minutes he would make a difference; he had energy he got on the ball a couple of times and ran around at least looking like he had purpose, and then Southampton had another 5 minute spell of possession and he completely wilted, topped off by that horrendous miss.

More fool me for expecting anything else. At this point absolutely anything we can do to save the money is worth it. I can't see us getting a fee for him and realistically I think we're in the territory of a mutual termination or subsidising his wages to play elsewhere.

That miss was not poor judgment, and was not a choice he made randomly. In football in that kind of position you'd only slide, when you could have stayed up, when you're absolutely shot of confidence and when you think you'll miss, as in you're afraid you can't even get a tap in right.

Mentally he seems like a tough person but he probably does not have any belief in his ability at all at this moment.

He would have gone down undeeded to deflect blame if he missed, as he'd have the fall back security of claiming the ball was out of reach. He would have gone down to get his whole body behind it as it gives a false sense of security that you'll definitely be getting it in since your body is behind it. And mostly, it would give him an excuse.

Yeah.... No idea where he goes from here. Not even a squad player nowadays as I would expect a squad player to actually be able to pass a ball/make a correct decision.

Nah, having that extra attacker on the pitch was important to getting us back into the match, even if it was only Antony. In the first two goals Antony was in the penalty box drawing a defender that otherwise may have been the closest to Amad at the time he shot, and in the third it looks like he'd gone back to RWB which is why Amad was pushed up high and in a position to win the ball.

Antony himself didn't do much, but just having that extra attacker made a difference and he and Zirkzee were the only ones on the bench. So it was a good call from Amorim to bring him on. Personally I would have preferred Antony go straight to RWB so Amad could play the more attacking role, but it worked out in the end.

I do wonder if Antony not getting more of a run out at RWB is Amorim trying to freeze him out so he leaves. Otherwise, the three or so times we've subbed him on in that position it's worked quite well and he and Amad seem to have a good combination. I would have thought this match would have been a good opportunity to try it from the start.

Same as Rashford and Casemiro, I do think there has been an element of freezing out to give a clear message they’re not part of the plans and can go. I could be reading too much into to it but it’s felt that way to me.

Don’t think last night would have changed Amorim’s mind but do agree, once on I’d rather have seen him at RWB from the start and Amad further forward.

Imagine being an £80m footballer with the weak foot of a 5 year old. The reason why he slid is because he had 0% confidence in striking the ball cleanly with his right foot and needed to get his whole fecking leg behind it.

I think he was just going through the motions, I don't think he ever expected the ball to arrive at his feet. Throwing yourself to the ground like that looks as though you were anticipating to win a tap in when the ball either flies by or doesn't make it through the box.

Yeah if you need goals you bring on attackers. So in that sense it was positionally correct.

But individually he was rubbish and missed a sitter. That can't be said to be a good sub.

I've been calling for more players in their prime years but in Antonys case I'd make an exception. He just shouldn't be on the pitch. Give a young player his seat on the bench.
