Antoine Semenyo

Apparently we have to walk away from anyone who costs more than a tenner. This will be an interesting summer.

Its hard to buy from PL teams nowadays, any players would be quoted 50-60m. Its going to be a long and hard summer. Think Ineos will just let it be like this for coupple years and push the Glazers to walk away knowing that United value will keep plummets with terrible football.

Does he suit the #10 role? I don't want it to be the same case as Garnacho, a winger who is struggling at the #10 role.

Maybe he is just fond of him but doesn't rate him as a player.

The “inside no.10” role? Like most wingers and wide attackers, probably not, no.

Very two footed, can play either wing and I think he might be quite good behind the striker as well. Fee is big though as it goes with EPL tax. As someone jokingly said it would be better to target new Semenyo. But I like the player a lot.

The reactions to this one is quite funny. Everyone has been moaning about lack of fitness, but when we finally gets linked to a player who help solve that, these qualities are too boring for us to value.

Semenyo would be good!

I think he's really good and would be an instant upgrade in our midfield. Is he good enough to be a first team player for a top top team? Not sure, but he's certainly good enough for a top4-5 team in the league. Obviously Bournemouth will want a sick fee, not sure if we can afford to splash 60m+ on him.

Not a fan of him, he's just another winger who shoots an excessive amount and doesn't pass the ball. Doesn't really fit Amorim's system so reads like an agent promoting his player.

Yeah I read somewhere that he has most in shots in the league per 90, also after a quick search I found this stat from last night:

"He has hit 11 shots in his last 2 league games, with 9 of those shots being outside the box".

Would be very frustrating to watch in our shirt haha.

That's what I am afraid of.

17 goals and 6 assists in 75 PL games.

Garnacho who is 5.5 years younger has 15 goals 7 assists in 88 PL games.

He clearly isnt good enough. Yet I wouldn't be surprised if we signed him.

He had a good season so far but way overpriced. Cunha is a better option.

Players are way too overpriced in England.

£65m +, hopefully we can see our recruitment find a non Premier League player who'll cost less and offer similar physical attributes.

Does any half decent Premier League player cost under £50m anymore? (unless they have a clause or something)

PL clubs are largely financially sound and have zero need to sell their best players. Buying domestically will prove difficult over the coming years.

He'd be the perfect signing at that fee if our ambition was to max out as an upper mid-table team.

I like the player a lot but not at that fee. For that you can literally go for Cunha who has a far greater output and can confidently play in one of the 10 roles or failing that, the no.9.
yeah for 40-45 he'd be a good addition. Depends how much money we can raise and prioritise other players.

Excellent player, but Cunha at a similar price seems like a better fit? I really like Semenyo but if we're strictly looking to players for Amorims system then I don't know.

We need to hit the ground running the moment the window opens. No fecking around especially with prices like £65m for Antoine fecking Semenyo
What we should be doing is getting our deals done now, not in the summer. Follow the Bayern route of getting these deals announced early, and getting them in on the first day of pre-season.

I can see what is going to happen, we're going to dilly dally, get these players in right before the window shuts, then have them on the fringes for months while they "learn the system" by which time, we're 10th in October and struggling again.

He would be a very good signing for us.

Premier League proven, at the right sort of age, won't be on massive wages either. Him and Amad out wide would be really exciting especially if we can get Delap through the middle.

8 goals and 4 assists in the league and people are actually endorsing this? For context Amad who hasnt played in ages has 6 goals and 6 assits in the league. For a team struggling with goals Semenyo is a no go. Even his overall play is not good enough.

His numbers are poor, our numbers are poor. We shouldn't go anywhere near him.

Based on this season at least, he would drive people insane with the amount of shots he takes versus the amount of shots he actually gets on target.

If he was still a kid, you might project long term upside. But at 25 he (along with players like Cunha or Mbeumo) are players you buy for what they offer now. And that fee for what Semenyo offers now would be.... not good.

Liam Delap, Semenyo, Schick, Suzuki... Even if the links are mostly bs, the targets are underwhelming.

We are not the powerhouse that you think we are I'm afraid and we haven't been for some time. It's time for us to start targeting the lesser known player as we need players that want to play for the badge and want to play football. Not prima donna's who think they're something they're not (see Garnacho, Rashford, Sancho etc). It's time for the fan base to wake up and realise that this is the only way it gets better. We've tried the whole charade of signing the biggest names in the market and look where that has got us, bottom half of the table with one of the worst 25 man squads in the league.

Liverpool during their slump, went and signed players like Robbo (Hull), Firmino (Hoffenheim), Mane (Soton), Salah (Roma), Gini (Newcastle), Fabinho (Monaco) etc, and those players with the added staple signings of VVD and Alisson, went on to win the Premier League and the UCL. Those players were relative nobodies at their respective clubs, Salah was deemed as a reject from Chelsea...

Take the red tinted glasses off and change your way of thinking for the betterment of the football club. If you don't, and you want to continue this perpetual cycle of dross that we keep signing, then do not hope for the club to turn around.

Spot on.

It blows my mind that so many people can't see this!

We'd do very well to get the likes of Semenyo or Delap this summer as they will both have better offers.

You can still find better players and hidden gems abroad instead of splashing money for mediocre EPL-proven players. Semenyo for that money would remind me of the Mount and Onana transfers.

I've stated on this thread above that I don't think we should go near Semenyo at that price tag, especially when Cunha is priced at the same amount.

My response to you is regarding your comment about 'underwhelming' targets. The names we're being linked with are at our level currently. Who are you expecting us to be linked with? If your knowledge of these players isn't up to speed then they're exactly the type of players we need to be signing. Not prima donnas as I said before.

I like Charles De Ketelaere and Ederson at Atalanta. Two relatively unknown names unless you want to know who they are. They're quite confidently better than the majority of our squad right now excluding Bruno.

My point is, you need to take your sights off the 'big' names, as we are not that club currently. Even Arsenal signed players like Saliba, Gabriel, Odegaard (failed at Madrid), Trossard, White etc, and they were all relatively 'small named' players in the grand scheme of things. They're now some of the best in the league in their respective positions.
