Anthony Martial out?

Why would he join a club outside of the UCL?

Arsene get back to trying to get Paul Dickov out of retirement

I certainly wouldn't want him sold, but the love-in in this thread is something else.

The guy was dreadful last season, but was good (not great, bearing in mind that most of our attackers have been awful for 2 seasons) in his first season.
He was our only useful attacker in his debut season. Managed something like 29 goals + assists in all competitions, pretty similar to what Ousemane Dembele managed this season. Considering his age, the fact the rest of our attack was pretty dire and that he was new to the league, I'd say it was a pretty great first season.

He showed no signs of improvement in his 2nd season which is alarming, given that he is so young (youngsters tend to improve rapidly and as they age, they plateau).
You're not taking into account the major factor of inconsistency. Not many young players are consistently brilliant with a perfectly straight development curve. There are always points of stagnation. Not surprising in AM's case when you consider his personal problems as well.
The moment we got Ibra, Ibra outscored him, comprehensively, which shows just how far away Martial is from being a leading attacker.
Is that supposed to be surprising? Ibra played as a striker the entire year and is a top tier striker with years of experience. Why would you compare him to a 21-year old that's almost exclusively played on the wing?

Personally, I think he'd do well in a team aspiring to be top 4 every year, like Arsenal. But if you are looking to win the title, Martial is not the guy. With him in the team we have finished 5th and 6th.
Maybe in a few years he'll be great....who knows?
Without Martial two seasons ago, we'd have finished much lower. Again, unless you're trying to pin the disappointment (league-wise) of our last two season solely on Martial, I don't see your point. You could literally say the same for any of our players that have been here for the past two seasons and try passing that off as a valid point.

ps. I put Shaw in exactly the same category as Shaw - showed potential when young, but things have stalled and he hasn't reached the heights expected. In fact, being bench warmers is a pretty sad state of affairs for both of them.
Showed potential when they were young? They still are young and are probably have another five or so years before they should be reaching their peak. You talk as if they're 27-year olds.

 this thread when a bid is made/he's sold.

Anyway, regardless of the sources (found some more but tedious to copy paste on my iPhone).

Would do people think of him? Keep him regardless of anything?

OFC! Even during his worst season with us his numbers have still been very good.

People writing off a 21 year old, especially one who had a first season like he did with us, is stupid

Yes, because one subpar season isn't enough of a reason to sell him, especially if the alternatives aren't that great or available.

He was terrible last year and fantastic the year before. We can revisit if he is brainless enough to not use his abilities again this year.

We can't sell a player for one bad season, especially if we have invested so much money in him. We may talk about this if he wasn't good enough next season, but he must stay for the next season.

If we could do a Martial - Sanchez swap (or martial + little money) with Arsenal, I'm totally fine with this.

Yes he's a keeper.

Hopefully he's over this girlfriend stuff along with other off field problems. He will have a much better season this year.

If we lose him, we'll be making our biggest mistake in years...he will be an absolute world beater soon.

His mental state though. Seems like someone that constantly needs to be pushed and motivated. Bit annoying and lousy tbh.

I know the sources are terrible, but I want to get something off my chest. If we sell a player like Martial while giving Lingard a new bumper contract, then I'll fully lose hope in how the club is being run.

We don't need the money to pursue our A list targets so no, would not sell even for £80m

No smoke without fire: express, metro, daily mail and the sun

Supposedly he cheated on his ex-wife, she then divorced him, took their daughter and moved to France I think?
All of this drama affected his play imo.

This 100%.

He's got so much skill no way does he go.

Just get his head straight and he'll be fine.

To be fair, he'll definitely be gone by Xmas/next Summer unless he dramatically turns things around under Mourinho.
