Anthony Martial and Willian swap?

I'd rather sell Rashford. At least you can witness the quality Martial has. Rashford had a good chance to prove his worth and got to greedy.
True but let's not forget Martial is 2 years older and both have had their flashes of brilliance this season.

Woodward must be losing his mind if he allows this. Sell Martial abroad. Sarri gets a hold of him he will be awesome.

Do not buy Willian - get a younger version to play on the right.

Mourinho is going to load up the team with expensive old players and when the next manager comes in we're pretty fecked because we have to start all over again. Not only that, I have no faith that his usual tactics of just using experienced players will work in winning the league. City and Liverpool are already ahead of us in terms of how they set up their teams and the sort of players they're targeting. We're going backwards here.

God almighty United has money but no sense.

15/16 was Willian's best season (if not someone correct me).

He managed 11 goals and 10 assists. Martial that season, in his first in the PL and his only not one under Mourinho got 18 goals 11 assists.

They are not the same type of player. People need to stop comparing goals and assists like this.

Not just find a new country. Retire. If this happens it will just continue to show how disconnected he is from modern football. And at the end of it the ones who pay for it are the clubs. Because he is generally a short term manager. He may have not rated KDB and Salah, Lukaku but at the end of the day it didn't affect him. He still won the league. But 3/4 years down the line he has moved on to his next challenge and these same players are tearing it apart elsewhere. Chelsea are the losers not Mourinho. We can't be making the same mistakes here with Martial. If he goes it's a loss for the club. So I hope the board don't allow it to happen.

So he should keep all young players just in case they turn out good? You'd think we'd never offloaded any prior to him, never mind he's not actually sold any here yet

People saying this would be typical Mourinho, care to give any examples because he's had a long career so there must be loads where he's swapped a performing potential WC player with a 30 year old

Martial just doesn't seem like a Chelsea player, suggest media are putting 2 & 2 together and coming up with 5

Willian is a decent player but nothing special, he's not going to elevate our attack, he doesn't score many goals and he's not super creative, he works really hard and is disciplined but getting rid of a 22 year old who has scored as many PL goals in half as many PL games and has his best years ahead of him, to get a 30 year old wide man with minimal productivity makes no sense.

Alternative is we sell Martial and get a player like Neres/Pulisic, who will be benched after a few games. Willian is jose’s soldier, these type of players are important for him.

I would prefer us getting a player who will actually play the majority of games.

You're right, which is why I feel so devoid of enthusiasm for the coming season personally, when I think of wingers and forwards I don't think of soldiers, but it's the reality for now, which is why I'd rather we didn't buy any more attackers or sell any this summer, just move Sanchez to the RW or keep playing Lingard there for now, just buy some fullbacks and another CM.

Martial can't fit in the same lineup as Hazard and Giroud/Morata.

Mourinho will always opt for a player who is already established in my opinion. He wants quick success like any other club he has been at. Martial won’t give him quick success until at least another 2 seasons.

What has come to the club that always gave opportunity to young players with flair? They're quickly losing the qualities I fell in love with the club in the first place.

Willian is too young. At only 30, he stands a chance of being around in two seasons when the manager has gone. Surley JT and Lampsy could still do a job. Swap them for Lingard and Tuanzebe?

I wouldn't be shocked if this bs is coming out from Chelsea camp, still bitter over not getting Lukaku trying to fuel the already huge speculation. The press don't need much incentive to write shit about United. It's common knowledge that we were in for William in the past. That deal makes no sense.

Hahaha.

Swapping a 22 year old with huge potential for a 30 year old would be peak fecking Mourinho. Short term focus at its finest.

I really hope he's not that stupid.

Well Thank feck he's not, unlike some so called fan here who got agitated by some bizarre transfer rumors.
i've said and i'll say it again if we are entertaining the idea of selling Martial it would be to non-PL clubs, and considering Barca, Real, PSG dont need him, Bayern and Juventus can't afford him, it will limits his options.

If we sign Willian in 2 years we'll need to replace both him and Sanchez, not sure that is wise.

Didn't Bayern pick up Robben & Ribery at similar points in their careers? They've absolutely smashed it for them for years beyond what most would have thought.

Imagine Martial coming with Chelsea and tearing is apart? Mourinho would need to find a new country.
True...If we decide to sell Martial,we need to sell him abroad....It's just too risky to sell him to a PL club...

Are you kidding me? They are 34 and 35 years old. They have both been there for more than 10 years. So no not even close to 30 years.

Willian would bring more to our team than Martial does. However he isn't young so no one will want him, just like no one wanted Matic.

Robben: currently 34, signed for Bayern when he was 25
Ribery: currently 35, signed for Bayern when he was 24

Willian will be 30 when the season starts.

Robben and Ribery are special cases. You can't expect most players to keep going like they have. Sanchez is already not as good as he used to be, due to losing some of the explosiveness that made him so dangerous.

They arent special cases. He was suggesting that Bayern signed those two close to 30 years. They were signed when they were 24 just entering their prime years. They have been so injury prone the last few years especially Ribery.

Martial under Sarri? At Chelsea? What a horrible thought.

Martial as bait ffs. Incredibly short sighted thinking.

Don't point the finger at me. It's just the reality right now. Martial has rejected a contract offer and with 2 years left on his current one, we will look to get the best out of his departure.
Attackers are difficult to get, and Mourinho loves Willian. So if Chelsea would be willing to do a deal, then it would be an obvious one for us to do.

I don't know why this is relevant, but Juventus did go for him the summer we got him.

Edit: think i misunderstood your post. Sorry!

This. Can't really do anything about when Martial isn't happy here. May as well get the best deal we can get. Listen, if we can get Dembele for Martial then I'm all for it but I doubt Barca want him. I doubt Jose wants Dembele either.

Funny you say that . Someone here made a comparison to Anelka a while back. Can't shake that since reading it. And gosh I loved that special moment Anelka had with Chelsea

I've long said Martial reminds me of Anelka but even then I still can't picture Martial at Chelsea
