"Anthony, Erikson and Christiano"

Some people are just less attention to detail people

Also, mispronunciations can be annoying.

Like pronouncing Gabriel's Jesus' name with an H. He's from a Portuguese speaking country, not a Spanish speaking one! You wouldn't called Jose Mourinho Hose! Half of pundits get it wrong.

Yeah this buggers me as well. Just like Martínez. Gary Neville pronounces it as Maaaartinez, but the emphasis should obviously be on the í.

To be fair I imagine a lot of Anthony’s on here are autocorrect’s when people put Antony.

It's because people resort to the more usual spelling you would use as an English-speaker. Anthony is a common first name in English, names ending in "son" are common in English and Christopher always has an "h".

Forget spelling for a second ( I am probably a culprit at some points), but coming from a eastern background, the thing that winds me up the most in the west is pronouncing a name incorrectly. I still here pundits or commentators calling DDG the British "David D Geea" rather than "Dav-id Dee Heya".

I swear every time I see Eriksen's name it's a brand new spelling, but never the correct one. Erikson, Eriksson, Erickson, Ericksson, Erickxon, Ericksen, Erixxon Valdez, Erichson, Erickhsen. It almost feels like some sort of inside joke that I'm not in on by now.
Kchrishtjuawn Uerixxchsonn.

Misspelling on the Caf was actually the reason Khvicha Kvaratskhelia chose Napoli over us this summer. We can't go on like this - Eric Bailey/Bailout/Bally whatever his name was got it right - English players are preferred for language reasons, and the trickiness of JLingz surname might have been the reason why this young lad never really took off.

It isn't that shocking. -qui is a reasonably frequently occurring group of letters in English: quit, quite, quiet, required, quiz, equity, equine... and so on.

Yes, they are, but what do they have to do with Maguire? Do you mean to say it's common that people pronounce it "Ma-Choir"? No, it isn't, is it? So stop arguing for the sake of arguing. I neither thought nor said it was "shocking," so please don't attribute things to me that I didn't think or write. The letter Q in his name makes absolutely no sense either phonetically or visually.

I don't really care tbh, it just sort of exposes people anyway, so I kind of like it.

"please sign Anthony, I luv him, he's my favortite player"

Well thank you, I now know not to put any stock in what you are saying because you clearly don't even know him.

First, no need to be so effing hostile. One would think I insulted your mother or kicked your dog, based on this post. All I said was that I don't find this particular mistake that surprising.

Second, a lot of people call him McGuire which also makes no sense phonetically or visually.

Bastian fecking Schweinsteiger had many spellings on this forum, as did mkhitaryan

Christina Ronalod has been at the top for so long, you would think people would at least get that right.

Anthony is an easy enough one, don't know anyone that is crazy enough to drop that h. His parents must be mad.

Ericsson is a rubbish phone.

It doesn't bother me as such, but it can be hard to take someone's opinion on a player all that seriously if they can't spell their name (unless it's Tomasz Kuszczak)

Is it Sacaray Bagna or Bacaray Sagna? I can't even remember what is the correct one.

Could be worse. Thank god we didn’t buy khvicha kvaratskhelia.

Let alone names that are prone to typos like Antony/Anthony and Cristian/Christian, I've seen someone on facebook group calling Pogba 'Bugba'.

Or Wojciech Szczęsny or Khvicha kvaratskhelia.

Eriksen confusion is very understable because of the similarity of Sven Goran Ericsson.

Not being hostile at all. I just get tired of the endless pointless internet arguments over every tiny detail. Why even respond? To me it's odd that someone would spell it that way; to you it isn't. No right, no wrong. How does this impasse help the world? It's inconsequential and boring.

Eriksen has played in the PL for like most of his career
I get his name wrong, but haven't really been concerned about how to spell his name in all that time. To be honest, I don't care if people spell my name wrong, unless it's on an official document or could lead to me losing out on money.

I think you don't quite get the point of an internet forum, really. By your logic, why even post in the first place?

How hard is it to spell their names correctly? Eriksen has played in the PL for like most of his career and is under contract now at United, yet still a feck ton of people here can't spell his name. Why is that? Surely it can't be that difficult?

Surely need McGuire as well? And the previous classic Lingaard, where I’m assuming people got Lingard and Lindegaard mixed up.

It's not even about logic, really. It just gets exhausting. If people stopped before they posted and thought, Will what I'm about to type be helpful to the world or harmful? I think the world might get a little better. Don't you agree? My original comment was a harmless observation and pretty much unassailable (adding a Q to the name Maguire is bizarre), yet you felt the need, for some reason, to pipe up and have your say on something that doesn't even matter in the scheme of things. Uh, congratulations I guess.

Some people's spelling is like pro evo's attempt at evading player name rights

OK. I'll remember not to reply to you in the future if I see your posts - I wouldn't want to exhaust you or cause harm to the world by challenging your observations in any way.

Erikson is the one that annoys me the most, specially seeing plenty of United fans spelling and writing it worng. At first I thought they were talking about a complete different player with a similar name to Eriksen.
