He will get lots of minutes this season. Due to his pace and because we will have many many games and wont just stick to the same attack through the season and burn them out. Anthony will probably play the majority as hes ETHs signing.
That might give him time to improve or a chance to look at other options instead for the season after.

He'll get some cup matches against weaker teams and come on as a late game sub to keep Sancho and Antony fresh. If everyone is fit he'll be the 2nd man off the bench after Rashford.

He is lightening quick. I think he is a great option off the bench because he will force teams to adapt, drop deeper, and this will created space in midfield especially later in games.

I wish he was that confident on the pitch. Seems scared of doing anything offensively. Refuses opportunities to swing a cross in etc.

Mind you he's spent his footballife running down the left, cutting inside and shooting.

Then we play him on the right and I don't think he knows what to do.

Good point. I think it's partly tactical though, most teams don't ask their wingers to try and beat a fullback on the outside anymore though, as it's high risk and even if successful usually ends with getting to the byline and putting a cross in, which is a low % play, instead teams look for a winger or underlapping FB to attack the space between full back and CB. If they're quick enough though then they should be able to beat the FB on the outside, and collect the ball with enough distance from the FB that they can collect it/carry it inside though rather than reaching the byline wide on the pitch, and I definitely want to see more of that from Elanga.
 
No one ahould write him off. The thing is for attackers even at age 20, I look for aspects of their game that make me think, yes, this guy could be a top player.
Especially the technical aspects of their game like dribbling, first touch, movement etc. The thing is for a kot of attackers, the technical side is natural...I don't think you can coach a player how to dribble or maintain balance.
Unfortunately, for Elanga I don't see anything that tells me he will be a top player.
He can be developed into a good squad player but I do not thinknhe has thenpotential to be abything more than that.
 
I hope we Dan German him and don't try to hold him until his mid 20s.

He seems a really good kid and he is talented, but I don't think he can become a starter for a team aspiring to win the league.

I am sure that ETH and his team will evaluate him better than me, and if they don't see him as a future starter, I m positive that he can fetch 25 millions.
 
According to the Athletic, a couple of PL clubs wanted him before the end of the transfer window.
 
A squad player at best, an option off the bench this season but going forward I don't see him being good enough to be a squad player. He reminds me a bit of Dan James, blistering pace and a good work ethic but he's shown nothing of note to suggest he's got much end product. Garnacho appears more talented.

I'd hope he can show some positive things this year that will allow a decent sale price next summer.

Our best winger tonight. Had some good runs, threatened with his speed and some good moments. Obviously you'd still want to see him top it off with a goal or assist, but compared to the much higher rated, more experienced and highly expensive players on the pitch he was the only one in attack that really looked like he might make something happen.
 
He is miles better on the left then the right. Maybe more so then any of our other non right wingers

Agreed. 6 out of 10 from him, rest of our attacking players were 4s (except Eriksen who is just head and shoulders above everyone else at the minute, and Fred's 1st half audition as a number 10 which would be a generous 2/10).
 
Wasnt too bad, but it is also obvious at the same time he'll never be good enough. But for the mean time, it will do.
 
Plays with good intensity, want to see him add goals and assists though. I do like how he goes outside and cuts back. Done it a few times first half
 
Not terrible, just doesn't really do much. I just can't see it with him. Could be good as a sub, though.

At this point I don't think there's much between him and Sancho.

He's probably the fastest player after Rashford. He will be useful.
 
Had some good moments, encouraging signs, but wasn't always able to find a United player in the penalty area and had an unconvincing shot blocked then a 2nd, possibly better shot blocked in the same passage of play. There might have been an opportunity to go through on goal from Malacia's pass but Elanga lost all momentum struggling to control the pass and ended up passing short to Ronaldo.

3 successful tackles and 1 interception. 2 shots blocked and 2 key passes.

Better than before. Some bright moments but overall too raw and not sharp enough with his touch, off the ball runs etc.

Nah he has the right physical tools, but technically he's even worse than Rashford who's no wizard himself with the ball. Elanga is literally just a stronger Dan James, so he'll have his use in the squad but don't expect much more than what he gives currently imo.
 
His only real positive use is as a LW when we're playing completely on the counter. Sneakily terrible both in the air and with his back to goal, anything hit long near him leads to the opposition getting the ball. That's where him being the skinniest guy on the team is a real problem. Antony is too, but he's a little more combative and his movement off the ball gets him a bit more separation than Elanga does.
 
Positive performance, young and learning. Europa League is perfect for him to get enough games in between sub in the Premier League.
 
Elanga was good last night. Both going forward and defensively. He works very hard and is willing to do the tracking back, much like Antony. It’s obvious Ten Hag wants his wingers to do this and to help out their full back.

What Elanga is lacking is that final pass/shot/piece of decision making. That can come though.

I think many of you seem to forget he’s 20 years old though and still developing.
 
Thought that was his best performance in a long time. Another player who is better on the left to add to the list.
 
His technique is always going to be inconsistent but thought he was the biggest threat of the starting front 3 last night, I noticed Eriksen kept looking for him as an outlet too.
 
Playing in games like this is much better for his development than having to be used out of necessity. He obviously isn't ready to be a starter, but playing well in these games can help him gain confidence, without huge pressure.
 
I actually think he might turn into a decent squad player. His technique is not great but he is able to keep the ball in tight spaces most of the time, and he's quite fast what makes him a versatile attacker. Hopefully he adds some end product but I think correct decision to keep him this season.
 
I am not his biggest fan as his passing and decision making is not very great and he is too sloppy, but yesterday he was the only of our attacking players who was a threat at times.
 
Had a few moments, but never looked likely to lead to a goal. A work in progress worth sticking with, but I'd like to see him grab his chances with a bit more end product.
 
I like this guy. Average in many ways but he is great at getting past people. He is scary quick - I mean teams are truly scared of his pace. I think he is a great option. I hope he improves the rest of his game but the pace alone is effective.

Would pretty much agree with this. I see him as a good squad option, he is a team player, he makes the right runs generally, tracks back, has good pace, reasonable finisher.

I dont see a top player in the making either, I do however see someone who is probably a good squad option in the way Dan James was meant to be and never was.

I see him as a prospect of beign a good functional player within a team rather than a big individual player in a side, not what we should aspire to within our first eleven, but someone that could be valuable within a squad and if we get that from a yough product, that is very very much a success if can make it to that role that is
 
It will be interesting to see if he gets selected for the City game.
If Martial does not start and Rashford is selected as CF I can see him being given a starting berth on one of the wings most likely in place of Sancho as this will be a game of high workrate on the flanks.
