Appreciate his hardworking attitude towards the game, pressed the hell out of Dunk for the red card which the team didn't take advantage of.

Good game by him.

He's in the team for his stuff off the ball rather then on it - which I'm not sure is something that should be happening with us (though I can see why it is currently) - and to that end you can't really fault him.

Provoked key moment of the game for us.

His efforts so far are not for nothing. Quite good to see someone caring.

Doesn’t convince me. He’ll either be a centre forward or not good enough for me. The wide player has too much midfield in it for him. He has nothing about his game anywhere behind 18 yards from goal.

Showing character in every situation and it payed off today.

Still early days but he has good attributes and attitude. For now that will do

I'm not sure why there are so many fans who are allergic to grafters, especially after watching a season of prima donnas stroll about the place.

Not being harsh or anything, but I just don't see with him. I don't see what he's meant to be good at, things he can build on.

Hardworking should never be your best attribute as an attacking player.

Because grafters are ten a penny in football and the bar should be higher than that.

I honestly don't see even premier league level potential in him (let alone anything close to United level, 0 chance of that if we're being honest). He's just kind of there and passes it back every time but doesn't have any stand out quality. He's not even that fast really.

For people saying he works hard... It's not like it's a stand out level of hard work? At least Dan James had the pace and endless work. Not to hate on a young guy too much but elanga really offers pretty much 0 to our game IMO. But we don't exactly have any other options other than him as rotation... So i guess he'll get a lot of time.

He had a bad game and he's being called a championship player in so many words. This place

The best attribute of our other option in his position at the minute is his PR team, so I think I'll take it.

For someone who's only played under 23 football to now be adjusting to the Premier league he's done much better than I would have imagined. We've seen how Sancho and others have took about 6 months to get used to the pace so it's impossible to say how good Elanga could become from his first handful of games at this level

He looks good in u23s but he’s an absolute nothing player in the first team currently. There’s a reason we are struggling for goals and filling a team with mediocre players like McFred and Dalot doesn’t help. Elanga could be a player in the future based on what I’ve seen in u23s but currently he’s just ‘run’

He works hard and has great movement, but there’s very little going on with the ball, isn’t there?

He’s going to carve out a good, little career on the back of the first two alone, but I’m not convinced I’m seeing enough to think it’ll be at United.

Would love for him to prove me wrong, mind.

Elanga is the sort of player Fergie would have loved. He clearly would run through a brick wall for that badge. His pressing for the red card was brilliant. He put a run in in the second half which was crying out for a pass from the right side in. The lad deserves to keep his shirt based on workrate alone

Running through a brick wall was the minimum for being a United player under Fergie but nahh it doesn't entitle one to a place in the side. SAF would loan them and sell them if all they could do was run. What entitles Elanga to play is how gash Rash has been.

Started celebrating before it left Ronaldo boot. LEDGEND.

Better off the left, but then so is Sancho - since all our other Lw's are awful or none existent at the moment.

I hope I'm wrong, but I've yet to see anything from him that leads me to believe he will make it at united. I just don't think he's up to the level. Lingard should be ahead of him, it's baffling that he's not.

I know he’s young but that shouldn’t absolve him from criticism. He has the right attitude and work-rate in games but the quality and talent just isn’t there (IMO ofcourse). I haven’t seen him do anything beyond the very basic and simple that any run of the mill player could do.

I refuse to give up an Marcus, but Elanga should start over him for now. He has more use currently.

He made some impacts on few games he's started already. I think that's a very decent start of (proper) debut season.

That sums it up. Although I'd add he does have an eye for goal too. But he's not shown any real technical quality. If he keeps developing then I can see him making a decent premier league career somewhere but he's not yet shown any signs of potential to develop into an elite attacker.

Still, he works hard and follows orders so he's useful for now. But losing Greenwood and having Elanga step up as a regular is a major step down in a strictly football sense.

Well its the united way at the moment, you're either talented and lazy or not so great with the ball and super hardworking. With Bruno being the only exception.

People love getting high on academy kids then tear them apart later once they don't fulfil their delusional expectations. With the likes of Januzaj and Greenwood, there was always special things about them and their success or failure weren't predicated on their lack of ability but rather on other things(laziness, factors outside of football, etc).

With Elanga I don't see anything special about him that should get people exited as were the case with your Januzaj or Greenwood. His actual skills aren't being highlighted when he's brought up but instead people bring up all these intangibles such as hard work, effort, etc. Honestly when such qualities are the firsts one thinks of about a player, that raises a serious red flag. We've seen this dance before, we've seen what these hard working limited players end up turning out. Your Lingard, McTomminay were all vouched for due to their hard work yet it eventually never amount to much if there aren't actual skills and talent to compliment that.

This Elanga kid hasn't shown anything special and isn't special for me to be hopeful about his prospect. He just runs and works hard. That's not quite enough. Next manager that comes through the door probably won't look at him twice.

He played exclusively on the left at the lower levels with some games as a forward, so naturally he's going to struggle on the right side. He could work on his crossing.

as a reply to pretty much 75 % of all posts since yesterday:

His 19 and its his first season in the PL!
He works hard (which is in itself worth more than anything, Rashford, McT, Fred - I would say Bruno but he scored - has contributed). Defending starts with the attackers.
On the attack he has had glimpses of creativity and speed, but he has disappeared from some games and lost the ball a bit too easily sometimes.
Lets give him some time and then I'm quite certain time will tell if he has the potential or not.
For the time being I think he is a good squad player that sometimes starts, sometimes comes on late in games. This is for one reason alone - to work hard and press!
