Film Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Trailer started off good but then felt like they were just going to play the whole movie so ended up stopping it

Beginning of phase five right?
Hopefully better than four

From what ive read of this trailer whilst it looks like the trailer gives a lot away apparently its actually not doing so and there are some big surprises in store.

We're certainly at a point where one of the X-Men or fantastic four turns up. You'd think it be fantastic four in film with Kang but they've "hinted" at X-Men in a few recent products now so anyone's guess.

Certainly can't go in expecting to see either mind. But it'll happen very soon.

Imagine its both, from a different reality and they all get whacked within a minute to make Kang look badass.... :nervous:

Ok, thats good. I still will probably not finish that trailer (until im kinda forced to watch it when I see it in the cinema before an unrelated movie)

Is this freaking movie out yet? Feel like it's been advertised for about 5 years now.

A YouTube comment that said "Marvel best ever, no movies can compete with greatness" pretty much summed up my feelings about this movie after watching the trailer. Its brain drain for the brainless. And I'll still watch it

No, I don't read comics. I beat up people who do while wearing a letter jacket.
Ha.

You get what I'm saying though. I find cricket deadly dull and I don't get the appeal at all, but I don't express my incredulousness when I hear they are playing the Ashes again.

I used to love Marvel movies. They were a refreshing take on the overly serious or overly goofy super heroe flicks of the past.

They've overstayed their welcome though. It's time for something new. And come on, who doesnt like a good old I dont like this moan.

Just saw it, better than most of phase 4

How’s the CGI? Are they still on the path of ‘Why spend lots to make something that looks brilliant when people will consume a far cheaper product at exactly the same level’ ?

There are parts where you think why are they doing that room instead of proper CGI, but some part of it looked great, some not so much

Yeah the reviews are pretty brutal so far. And most non spoiler reviews I read seem to have a basic issue with the story itself.

Eternals was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I gave up half way through.
I enjoyed it, I'm a sucker for the more cosmic elements of the MCU. Certainly kept my interest more than the Iron Man and Thor 2s of the world.

It's really weird what's happened to the MCU. The quality was so consistently high until Endgame and even though they're churning out much more content now, a lot of it is pretty standaloneish and so shouldn't be burdened too much by franchise building. I thought Black Panther 2 was very good but apart from that, really a stunning drop in quality.

Black widow was too late and kinda stupid
I thought shangi chi was fun
Spiderman was great (nostalgia fan so biased)
Dr strange promised so much but didn't deliver on the multiverse element
Thor had a great actor for the villain and underutilized him (didn't see much godkilling) and they went too heavy with trying to make jokes which got away from what made Ragnarok Thor's best movie
I enjoyed BP2 (but really missed CB)

Johnathan Majors is a great actor. Plays Kang really good. Just saw the movie. It was decent, not great but ok. Kang was the best character, really made it entertaining.

Yep, Kang made the movie, otherwise it was just decent.

In contrast MODOK
was fecking terrible

Watched it earlier. As most have said, Majors is great as Kang. Some nice visuals, good costume and creature design, but a bit bland and lacking in the humour I'd enjoyed in the previous Ant Man films - although I know a lot of people didn't care for that aspect of the series.

There are possibly a few too many new characters introduced for very little pay-off and some are so underused, you wonder why they cast those people in the first place. Like BP:WF, you feel that 30 mins could have been lost and it would have been beneficial.

I'm a sucker for superhero stuff, and I think the problem is that they are trying to continue a story without some of big-hitters, after two climactic movies that wrapped up lots of the story arcs for so many characters. The new films aren't bad. They are just unremarkable. They all have fun, spectacular moments, but there's not much rewatch value, as we've seen so much of it done better already.

Reading the critc reviews on RT, most aren't even saying it's bad. Just that it's very average.

Just seen it and loved it. Best marvel movie for me since infinity war, kang steals the movie. Phase 5 kicks off with a bang.

Seeing how difficult it is to introduce kang into the movies, i think they did a great job.

"...Avenger?....I have killed SO many...."

Seeing this tonight. Haven't seen either of the first two which is odd considering how many of these Marvel movies I've seen.

I get it though. Ants, men, time travel, quantum physics etc.

It's shite, but it's only 2 hours and not as shite as most of the recent Marvel fair. It's yet another terrible bad guy who you have no reason to see get beaten or bested. At one point he seems like a god, opening portals and torturing people with a flick of his wrist but in the end it devolves into a fist fight with non super human Ant Man. So what if there's a load of them at the end, apparently this Kang was going to stop them and he just got beat by one of the weaker Avengers. Jelly creature was a bit funny.

You've misunderstood his powers. They are all derived from the suit, i.e. 31st century technology. If the suit is damaged and noy functioning, he has no powers.

Also id spoiler the ending for those who want to watch and havent seen it yet.

I fancy seeing Creed 3 just because of him, despite not having seen any of the others. Loved him in Lovecraft Country and Loki.

You should watch the other Creed films. I found them surprisingly good, given they are essentially the 6th and 7th Rocky sequels. MBJ is great in them.

A bit OT but others have touched on it... since Phase 4 (movies) is now out in full I watched through them all in chron order apart from Eternals (it's so bad) and I've just finished Wakanda so only Thor Love and Thunder to go.

It's dropped off a cliff in quality since the Infinity Saga as others mentioned, but the two Spider-Mans, Wakanda and Multiverse I thought were OK. And I liked Black Widow, but it shouldn't be a Phase 4 movie obviously.

Phase 5 has to pull some massive rabbits out of hats to bring it back I think. I won't be seeing this til it's out on disc.

Seen it yesterday morning in IMAX 3D and even that didn’t stop me from falling asleep midway through it for 10-15 mins . Although having said that, it’s certainly not the worst Marvel film I’ve seen.

This phase 4 has been woeful. Need to pull a rabbit out the hat for phase 5.

EDIT: this is a phase 5 movie!

Glad that Johnathan Majors came out of it with high marks , because he will be crucial to the MCU going forward. Could not care that much about Ant-Man or the Wasp.

This is the first of Phase 5 isn't it? Otherwise, I've fecked up my watching

It wasn't.
