Everytime I try to play Pro Evo on mine, after the first game, it cuts out and says the disc is unreadable.

I looked at the disc, and there are several very neat, circular scratches on it. Almost as if something had damaged it whilst attempting to read it, you'd think.

Fantastic.

Anyway I'm now officially done with it. I don't understand all these X-Box fanboys. It has to be the single biggest piece of rip-off, poorly put together shite in the history of electronics.

I had that with Halo. Whatever you do, do not move your Xbox whilst you are running a game. What you have got is a laser burn. I took my Halo back and got a new one free. :)

I've heard that problem happening to a few people. Same happened to my mate, and he brought it back to the shop and got a brand new shiny one.

This used to always happen on both of mine til I sent them back to Bill Gates, it's really frustrating though when you have to start over after each game, or you have a good game goin and it just cuts out

It's been a known problem for quite a while. That and.....

It shouldn't happen with the more recent models, in theory....

Great, shouldn't happen with the newer models. It shouldn't fecking happen with any models. A device that can't perform the function it was designed specifically to do, without fecking it up.

My verdict - It's shit

its definitely to do with moving your console while disc is spinning, happened with my copy of Oblivion

numbnuts no doubt decided to move his xbox whilst the cd was still in

It is a problem, there is no point of denial here, because it has happened too many times, and it depends on what DVD drive is in what particular machine. There was a large batch, and I mean a large batch, that have DVD-ROM drives that scratch disks. It has nothing to do with moving the machine.

My X-Box has remained perfectly stationary for at least the last two months (i.e. before Pro Evo was even purchased). So that's utter bolocks

I've heard this moving the console while its turned on crap before. Sounds like a shit excuse made up to cover for an obvious and rather embarrassing fault with the machine.

Could it be down to the fact that you were playing Pro Evo and not Fifa?

A guy I know bought one for his kid and the first time he put in a disc it the console made a very loud noise. After about ten seconds he took out the disc to check what was going on and he saw that the whole disc had been scratched. He then took it back to the store and they offered to give him a new one but he declined the offer and got himself a PS3 instead.

Lovely story isn't it?

Sounds like a nightmare. He should've stuck with the 360!
Which mental handicaps lead to that decision? :D

X-Box 360:

Pros:
- COD4
- Less ugly than original Xbox

Cons:
- Still quite ugly
- fecked up Pro Evo
- Rubbish games which Xbox nerds pretend are good (see Halo 3, Project Gotham, stupid game where you crash into underwater city)
- Xbox nerds
- Scratches discs for no reason
- Controllers demand new batteries with baffling frequency
- Hang on, controllers that need batteries? feck off
- Xbox live costs more money, despite already paying for Broadband, the Xbox, games, controller batteries, etc. How does this justify itself exactly?
- Sounds like a six year old windows server when it boots up

PS3:

Pros:
- Not an Xbox

My cousin is getting a X box for Christmas.

TBH I really don't see why people get shocked over this. Microsoft are out of their depth on the hardware level and basically rely on 3rd parties, as they have no FABs of their own. Things are bound to go wrong. Sony on the other hand do not have the same experience in developing operating systems that Microsoft do, thus why many feel that the Dashboard is better than the Xross media bar (I don't think it is), and that XB-Live is way more fleshed out than the PSN (I think it is yes).

Noodle, why dont you use the rechargable battery gimpboy?

all wireless devices eat standard batteries

My TV remote doesn't have a wire? It does the exact same thing, yet I've never needed to replace the batteries.

Why can't the controllers just have wires? It's not like you're going to wonder off out of the room with one

My 360's been running well for a while now. I think nearly a year but i fear the ring of death might arrive any day now.
