Should have been sent ahead of Lingard for at least 15 minute.

Liked what I saw in those few minutes. Question for people who know more about our youth. What kind of a player he is? What are his main strengths?

Nice cameo, looking forward to seeing him in later rounds I hope.

Shame he didn’t get longer. Looked desperate to make his mark.

Stop moaning, he's 17. Any game time he gets is a bonus and not some sort of requirement. That said he seems to be fearless, confident and is obviously very technically gifted. Definitely a wonderful talent.

He is really tiny but I liked the first dribble he did. Hope to see some more of him.

Has that burst of pace over the first 10 yards that makes me think he'll be a top player.
I don't really think he has that. It's just that his technique is a class above that he can make very sharp turns.

Well that's too bad for him. Designated midget on the team is now number 7.

Shame that shot didn't go in, did very well to create chance for himself.

I love the way he carries the ball, it just sticks to his boots.

It's exciting to have another young talented player breaking through in to the squad.

Nice little run out. He'll be buzzing for any minutes he can get. Hope he can have a few more here and there later in the season if the opportunity presents itself.

The close control and agility means he can lose players, bit like Iniesta.
Yep. Only thing I want him to improve on is his composure while under pressure. He's very good at playing the right pass, and keeping the ball when a defenders rides his back, but he can rush things when in a crowded area. This is something Pogba is really good at. Hopefully he can learn that from him.

Reminded me a bit of Sterling.
Very different from Sterling. Sterling is more like Sancho. Gomes is more like an Iniesta type who can give the through ball, play in midfield, has extremely great technique, and quick feet. Also can play too safely due to not forcing anything. Sterling utilizes his pace more, and though he does have good technique, it's not on the level of Gomes'. Sterling is more aggressive and attacking while Gomes is more of a midfielder than an attacker if that makes sense. Still an attacker, but plays way more patient.

Great move in his first involvement. Could be a blessing it didn't come off, they hype would have been enormous.

Would love to see him get a decent opportunity in the next round, he looks a proper talent

I was most impressed with the confidence. Sanchez took some hits playing the same position tonight but Gomes went straight for the kill as soon as he came on.

Jumped off the couch 'cause I thought he'd scored. Lovely cameo. Would like to see him get more minutes so hopefully we draw another lower level team in the next round.

Could someone confirm whether it is Angel or Angle?

On my commentary they actually said it's "Angel" - like proper English Angel and not a foreign pronunciation even though his dad is from Portugal.

How special is he in the reserves to be getting a senior appearance at 17?
