After a good spell on the beginning of 2012/2013 season Di Maria got a new improved contract. As soon as he got it his form when to shit and that's all there is to say about that season.
Then came 2013/2014 season. It didn't start well and at the end of the year this happend:
Ancelotti stood by him and after he found his form again and played the best football of his career in the most important part of the season, all was forgotten.
But it really wasn't forgotten. Like I said, Di Maria is not Flo's favorite player, he is also not a midfielder, even though he played like one. Ancelotti wants him to stay, and if you think about it, which manager wouldn't. Even when he sucks, he makes up for it a bit, just with his insane work rate. You can stick him on either wing, in the middle. He can even play as a 10.
But Flo wants his new shiny world cup toy and he'll get it, and it will be financed by Di Maria's sale. I'm sure about that. I just don't know who's the player yet. Falcao has been having dinners with Flo and he was a guest at Bernabeu for a few games at the end of the season. He also didn't sell his house in Madrid. As for the world cup toy...maybe James...don't know..
I was hoping for Pogba, but selling Vidal and extending Pogba's contract seems to be the logical choice for Juve this summer. I just don't want us to sign Kroos.
Important to mention, so far Di Maria has been the only one giving signals to the other clubs with his statements. Flo has been silent and Ancelotti clearly want's him to stay. If the right club offers higher wages, Di Maria is gone. It really looks like it's only a matter of time..
