Ange Postecoglou | New Spurs boss on 4 year contract

He's a goner soon enough, can't see him recover from this point and with these results, I wonder how come the news of his potential sacking hadn't emerged.
Getting sacked after making the league cup final is a Spurs tradition. Wouldn't want to ruin that.

He keeps moaning about the players work levels and using words like "unacceptable" when he's deploying crazy unflexible tactics that will obviously wear them down both physically and mentally.

Its a bit of a recipe for disaster tbh. I'm just not sure what counts as disaster for Spurs, since it can be anything from losing nearly every game for months to only being 3-0 up at half time.

he'll make it thru the end of the season but not sure it'll be much into the summer and they move on from him

they've lost Kane and Son will probably be going soon as he's really hit a wall as a player

yes i know they are carrying injuries but his style of football is not sustainable without an incredibly deep squad of players
Yeah I love how Spurs play when fully fit and firing, but you simply can't afford to be as inflexible as he's been if you're at a bigger club and just get beaten over and over. Ten Hag made the same mistake last year as well (granted his style was far worse but the point was moreso about the lack of change/adjustments to the situation).

Being able to be fluid between pragmatism and forward thinking tactically is what seperates decent managers from great ones, because the latter has no issue shutting up shop and emphasizing solidity if they are under the gun for a match and then opening it back up the next matchday and going for it.

I liked him when he first rocked up and overall he had an okay season.

But as soon as he stated back in Aug/Sep that he always wins a trophy in his second year, he had to back it up. A cup is still on the cards but unlikely.

Plus his comments about his job being more stressful than the PM’s, well I can see where he’s coming from but he’s going to rub a lot of people up the wrong way too.

His stubbornness and overall demeanour, especially this season, make him aloof and far less likeable. I think the size of the job is getting to him. He’s no longer in a tin pot league. Sure he’s got injury problems, but feck me so do lots of clubs.

Can see him ousted in the next month if league results don’t improve.
He’s actually closer to delivering the trophy than they’ve been at any point recently, being one game away from the League Cup final. It’s a lesser trophy to everything else they compete in but it’s Spurs, any trophy is massive for them.

When United are ahead of you in the table it’s not looking good mate

So when we were 7 points off the relegation zone, there was genuine talk in the media about the chances of us going down.

We're now ahead of Spurs, and they sit 14th, 8 points off relegation and there's not a word about it. Does that single point make all the difference?

Since their win against City (in November) they've won just one game from nine (against Southampton), losing six. The only teams to do worse in that period of time have been Leicester and Southampton, both looking set to go down.

Spurs were 6th after beating City, 3 points off 4th.

It’s because we’re bigger news. Few people care about Spurs.

We were never in a relegation fight and I don't think there was any single serious media outlet that was reporting it in that way. It was, at best, mentioned tongue in cheek and dismissed immediately (as it should have been). It's exactly the same for Spurs.

If your broader point is we have more negative media coverage than them (or most clubs), it's obviously the case but this isn't quite the most relevant example of it.

Apart from our very own Manager stating we were in a relegation battle a few weeks back???

James Ducker from Telegraph wrote a full fecking article on implications for United if relegated it wasn't tongue and cheek at all .

You thought that was serious?

Fair enough! I didn't know that :)

Well to be fair, our own manager mentioned relegation battle so it makes sense the media will also talk about it then.

United sells

i really didnt realize their season was going just as bad as ours. Can imagine theyll be in a must win game against everton or things start getting tight there.

Our manager mentioned it because he was directly asked about it by the media!

After the Newcastle defeat it's come up before every league game in some form, with Ducker literally writing a full analysis of all the implications relegation would have for the club.

As above.

I've never believed we were in a relegation battle.

My point of contention, I suppose, is that Ange enjoyed a heavy amount of praise as someone who had come in and "instantly turned Spurs around" and I think most nauseatingly "immediately instilled an identifiable style of play", all because of a reasonably hot start to last season.

We can safely write off that "hot start" as new-manager-bounce, given their current predicament. Yet, rather than addressing that they're on course for their worst league finish since (at least) 2007/08 when they finished 11th (a record that will be almost entirely down to the "identifiable style of play" Ange has brought them), BBC Sport (among others) were still running fluff about the "tweaks" Ange needed to make to push for top four and how under him there is "light at the end of the tunnel" even after the Arsenal defeat.

They've spent almost £400 million since Ange arrived, and about the biggest criticism you'll see of him is "he might need to become more adaptable, but I like his attitude" or some tongue-in-cheek reference to his stupid "I always win a trophy in my second season" comment because they might win the league cup.

His post match interviews are becoming painful to watch. He looks washed up. I just cannot see how on earth he can inject what is needed into to those players. The club would do better by parting ways now rather than letting it drag on. They should already have a replacement on the horizon or a short term solution.
I'm thinking Thomas Frank long term although he's probably too attached to his Brentford.

Think he’ll be gone if they can’t turn this around

15th in the league is atrocious

Won't get sacked until they get knocket out against Liverpool which they will be.

Then again Levy fired Mourinho before the final but I think he hated Mourinho

He's surely done right? Plenty of options of Prem managers that would be at Spurs level and are potentially good fits: Thomas Frank, Iraola, Marco Silva, McKenna, all would be good appointments IMO.

Any manager deserves to be sacked if they’re letting this Everton side score 3 against you in a half.
